This Will Be Oh So Very Special

Summary:

“What did you wish for?” An mutters, plucking the candle out of the cake and placing it on a napkin.

Kohane rests her face in her hand, her eyes focused on An’s face. She really is beautiful. An is the most gorgeous woman Kohane has ever seen, the way her eyes glisten under the low lights of Weekend Garage, her hair falling perfectly over her face. Her beautiful, incredibly kissable face.

“I can’t tell you,” Kohane replies slowly, almost like shes struggling to get the words out. She is quite distracted after all. “It won’t come true if I do.”

Work Text:

Kohane stares down at the singular slice of shortcake, one small, honestly pathetic candle staring back at her.

Everyone who came to Kohane’s birthday at Weekend Garage has long left. Leaving only Kohane and her girlfriend, An. She preferred it like this, though. The soft, intimate atmosphere of everything is one of Kohane’s favorite things. And of course, An knows that.

“Happy birthday, baby,” An coos, bringing the flame of her lighter to the wick of the candle. Kohane watches it light, the flame fluttering from An’s breath.

“You’ve already said that,” Kohane says, a soft giggle escaping from her lips. She’s sure An has told her "happy birthday" at least once every hour today. It’s sickeningly sweet, one of the many reasons Kohane loves her so much.

“It’s a special day!” An replies, her eyes lingering on Kohane’s smile. Thesight causes one to bloom on her own lips. Kohane’s happiness always seems to spread to An. “It’s the day the prettiest girl in the world was born.”

Kohane feels her face heat up. It was a corny comment, yes. But An is full of embarrassingly cheesy comments. Kohane doesn't know how she manages to store them all in her brain. That's probably why she's still so bad at English, actually. She spends all of her time planning how to make Kohane blush instead of studying. Nevertheless, they always work on her.

“Come on,” An pushes the plate of cake with its now-lit candle closer to Kohane. “Make a wish.”

Kohane looks back at the slice of cake. An baked it for her—she's been baking her birthday cakes since they met. It's one of their many personal traditions.

How was she left with one singular slice? Well, Kohane is a very sweet person. Sometimes, she thinks about others before herself, even on a day that's supposed to be all about her

She knows it’s dumb, An has scolded her enough about it. ‘I baked that cake for you, Kohane!’ or ‘It’s your birthday, babe. If anything, they should’ve given their slices to you!’

She’s already heard it all. She already feels guilty about it. It’s better not to dwell on it anymore.

Kohane closes her eyes. Maybe making wishes on birthday candles is a little silly. Even so, a tiny part of her wants to believe that it's real. That if she makes a wish under the dimmed lights and loving gaze of her girlfriend, it will come true.

I want An to love me forever.

She takes a deep breath, then blows out the singular candle, her eyes fluttering back open to meet the eyes of An.

An lets out a soft laugh, leaning forward on the table. The action is unbearably attractive. An is unbearably attractive.

“Of course you can't.” An picks up a fork from the table, gathering some cake onto it, then holds it up to Kohane.

“You’re spoiling me,” Kohane grins, opening her mouth and letting An feed her anyway. She’s never been against being spoiled. In fact, secretly, it's all Kohane wants. She loves it when An treats her like she’s the most important thing in her life. She’ll never say that to her, though.

An pushes the fork into Kohane's now open mouth, her eyes focusing on the way her lips close around it.

“It’s your birthday. What kind of girlfriend would I be if I didn’t spoil you?”

Kohane swallows the mouthful of cake, letting out a soft, contented hum at the taste. It's really good. But, she’s sure An knows that already. Her tongue darts out to lick up the frosting on her lip, and she doesnt miss the way An’s breath hitches.

“What?” Kohane questions softly, though, shes pretty sure she knows what.

An has always liked kissing Kohane. She kisses her basically every time she’s able to. At first, she thought it was just a really forward way of showing her affection. Then, it dawned on her that, just maybe, her girlfriend was just really into kissing her.

“Nothing,” An replies quickly, and for the first time tonight, she watches An get nervous. Or, at least what she thinks is nervousness. She could just be shy. But An is rarely shy. It's a strange sight. It is also strangely cute.

An notices Kohane watching her, and immediately sticks the fork back into the cake, bringing it back to Kohane’s lips.

“Here!” An practically shoves the fork into Kohane’s mouth. “Is it good? Maybe you should eat more!”

Kohane swallows more of the cake, but stares suspiciously. This is really strange. An never gets like this. Shes usually confident in their relationship.

“An,” Kohane reaches out, grabbing An’s wrist before she can bring the fork to the cake again. She takes the fork out of her hand.

“Why are you being weird?” Kohane inquires, sticking the fork into the cake herself this time. “Do you think I don’t know about you staring at my lips?”

An stares at Kohane, her face flushing a shade of red she hasn't seen since the day they started dating. Her mouth opens and closes a few times, like she just can't find the words to respond.

“Is it that obvious?” She lands on, letting out a little, almost defeated sigh. She almost looks pathetic like this. Her face twisted into an expression of embarrassment, a flustered pout settling on her lips. It’s honestly really cute.

“Very. But, I like it,” Kohane mutters with a shrug, bringing the fork to her mouth. She misses An feeding her. Why did she stop her? She really needs to think her actions through before she does them.

An blinks, surprised at Kohane’s words, staring at her for a moment like she’s not sure if that's even what she really said. “You do?”

“Yeah.” Kohane places the fork down after finishing the cake, suddenly standing up from her chair.

“I don’t feel like going home yet.” She declares, reaching out to offer her hand to An. “Take me to your house?”

★☆★☆★☆★☆

An opens the door to her bedroom, acutely aware of how excited her girlfriend seems to be. An knows when Kohane has something planned. She kind of hates it. It’s Kohane’s day, not hers.

Yet, the way that Kohane immediately pulls An to her bed feels suspiciously like a gift for her.

Kohane takes a seat on the edge of An’s bed next to her, her hands lying awkwardly in her lap.

Well, she hadn’t really planned this far.

Kohane really only wanted to make An flustered, that’s the best gift to her. Now, though, she doesn’t really know what to do.

“Uh—”

An suddenly reaches up, her hand wrapping around Kohane’s neck, pressing her lips against her girlfriend's quickly.

“Sorry…” An whispers, her voice sounding genuinely apologetic, which Kohane finds a little stupid, because all she wants is to kiss An.

“I just…” An sighs, then presses her lips against Kohane’s again, letting her lips linger just a little longer. “I can’t stop.”

“T-thats okay..” Kohane replies, her tone a little too whiny for her liking. But she can't help it. She’s distracted, An’s lips feel so nice.

Kohane is the one to connect their lips this time, her own hands moving up to An’s shoulders, steadying herself so she can move to sit in An’s lap.

An lets out a soft gasp, separating herself from Kohane, much to the displeasure of her girlfriend.

“Oh, wow, okay…” An’s hands linger awkwardly around Kohane before deciding to place them on her waist.

“This… this is a really good gift,” Kohane mutters, her fingers tightening on An’s shirt. “Best celebration I’ve ever had.”

An lets out a soft, almost pathetic sound. One that she doesn’t even know where it came from, but she doesn’t think about it too hard.

“I’m glad.”

An pulls at Kohane from her waist, their lips connecting with a purpose. Her tongue lines Kohane’s bottom lip, gently asking for permission to enter.

Kohane hums quietly, opening her mouth just a little more, granting An’s tongue entrance.

With a gentle squeeze of Kohane’s waist, An pulls away once again.

“Happy birthday, Kohane.”

Kohane has a beautiful girlfriend.

This is absolutely the most amazing birthday she could ask for.
