Chapter Text
Aria was sitting on Harry’s lap, sleepy, watching the sunset along the highway, the sun sinking behind the fields
“Mommy, I’m hungry” - The omega sighed
“Baby, if you eat now, we won't have for breakfast in the morning, maybe we can wait?”
“Excuse me, I heard the little girl is hungry” an elderly woman who was with a group of retirees reached over, handing her two sandwiches
“Thank you” the little girl murmured shyly, the grandmothers smiling and whispering among themselves about how cute she was, and how sorry they felt that the omega had ruined his life with a pregnancy
Aria offered him a sandwich, but her father shook his head
“No, thanks, I’m not hungry. You eat, don’t worry” he kissed her hair, brushing her arm.
“Just a little?”
“I ate while you were napping” he lied
“I’ll save it for you” she put it in the tupperware with some fruit and a treasured pack of cookies, along with some powdered milk packets. Harry smiled, stroking her hair as he thanked her for it, though he would eat the pack of nuts they got on the bus the next day anyway.
“Mommy” she called
“What’s up?”
“Why do we have to leave?”
“We’re going to see another place, even prettier. It’s very big and there’s lots to see, and it’s not so cold”
“Grandma’s going to be sad”
“She’ll understand, don’t worry” Harry swallowed the lump in his throat. She won't understand, but she'll be relieved. His mum didn't like his daughter.
“I’m bored”
“Try to sleep a little, you look tired”
The little girl sat back in her seat next to Harry, buckling in and resting her head on his thigh like a pillow, her legs bent on the seat to fit better. He covered her with his coat because that day was especially cold.
“How old are you?” one of the ladies asked
“Twenty-five” he lie “I know I look younger, good genetics”
“And your little girl? She’s just like you” Harry smiled, nodding as he wrapped an arm around his daughter, holding her.
“Four”
“She’s beautiful” they all smiled “Congratulations, eh, what did you say your name was?”
“Harry” he lied again, smiling.
