Chapter Text
The late afternoon was peaceful in the rainforest, animals could be heard in the distance, and the calm ambiant was everything Tamtey loved the most. As the sun was beginning to disappear for the daily eclipse, the Sarentu was out to explore. It was her favorite time of the day, with the bioluminescent plants lighting up, she could feel everything come to life as the world around her brighten. The pandorian night was waking up, and Tamtey was running as swiftly as a nantang, as lightly as a winzaw and as fast as an ikran. The forest was hers, it was peaceful and free from the human's threat. She dealt with it months ago, her and her familly did.
Now every corner of the western frontier was safe from the RDA and their ugly machines. Tamtey could explore as freely as she wanted.
After a while, she stopped by a pond of water. A small herd of Yerik were drinking at the other end, and the Na'vi held her breath for a second. She silently sat down next to the nearest bush, trying to be as discreet as possible so the animals wouldn't be frightened. One of the six limbed herbivores looked up in her direction and seemed to scan its surroundings for any danger. After few seconds passed before if felt comfortable to drink again. Tamtey felt home. She belonged somewhere, the fauna accepted her as one of them, the ground seemed to hug her feet with each new step she took, Pandora welcomed her as who she was, a native who had been lost to her home for too long.
Tamtey remained sat there for a long while, simply enjoying the sight of the bright night. It brought her peace. While she loved her Sarentu familly dearly, she enjoyed quiet moments like this one a lot. She was wearing Aranahe silk, neatly woven and decorated with Sarentu accessories, the farthest thing from RDA dirty clothing. That fact only was healing her soul. She had been out of her metal prison for over a year now, but sometimes she could still feel the cold of their shared bedroom, and the burning pain of the firearms.
With the resistance, and mostly with other Na'vi, Tamtey had began her healing journey, And she was finally happy.
A footstep noise behind her almost made the hunter jump, she had been too lost in her thoughts to notice it earlier. The Sarentu swiftly turned around, still near the floor, a knife in her hand, ready to defend herself if the presence was dangerous.
At the sight of the newcomer, Tamtey immediately relaxed and put away her knife, and as she stood up, a large smile drew itself on her face. So'lek had found her. Her companion was a great hunter, even greater tracker, he always found her.
His mouth opened, and Tamtey was sure he was saying something, but strangely enough, she couldn't hear anything. His voice was too far away, kept away from her.
Tamtey was confused, he was right in front of her, how could she not hear him? Her smile faded as quickly as it appeared and panic started to settle in. So'lek didn't seem alarmed, he kept talking, but Tamtey couldn't hear him, She started to walk towards him, but with every step she took in his direction, her lover seemed even more far away, the Sarentu couldn't reach him.
The warmth of the rainforest was gone, she was cold, almost freezing. She started to run, as fast as she could, faster than the ikran, lighter than the winzaw, swifter than the nantang, but it wasn't enough. So'lek was out of reach. She couldn't hear him, she couldn't touch him, and soon she couldn't see him anymore.
Suffenly, a loud bang surprised her.
Tamtey woke up in terror, she was alone, in a new metal prison that felt just like her previous one. The cold and hard floor on which she was laying was painfully uncomfortable, she was very faw away from the soft moss of the forest.
Her attention was quickly drawn to the banging sound she heard. In front of her, behind the large glass that separated her from her freedom, stood Major Bukowski, the humain responsible for her pain. He was looking at her with a disgusting smile on his dirty lips. Tamtey was alone in her metal prison again, so far away from the forest and her familly. So far away from peace.
