“Check out the new whip!” Katsuki yells from outside of Eijirou’s dorm window.
He’d been saving up for this since he was 16, and he couldn’t wait to show it off to his cool ass boyfriend. Not to brag or anything, but he’s pretty sure Eijirou will officially think he’s the coolest person in the world now.
Eijirou says it all of the time, but Katsuki’s not sure he believes him.
Startled by the sudden noise of Katsuki landing on the rail of the balcony, Eijirou jumps up. He’s in a defensive pose, which is crazy because he should be used to Katsuki’s stunts by now.
The papers he had in hand went flying, and his pencil flew into the wall. Aizawa was going to have his ass for that one later. Good thing he knows how to repair walls-he has three siblings that are walking tornadoes-meaning maybe he’ll be in less trouble.
(I promise the dashes aren’t like AI or whtv..I just learned how to use them after reading a book on the Holocaust called Night.)
To say he was surprised would be an understatement. He’d been in complete silence, save for the beat of his headphones, which he promptly takes off when he recognizes the signature blonde hair, while Katsuki was at the dealership.
Everyone had been let out of the dorms because it was break, but the two boys were left stranded thanks to their parents working out of town. Eijirou’s moms had an expedition in Brazil, and Katsuki’s parents had a fashion show in Milan.
It wasn’t bad. They got to be with each other without having to hide their affection, so it definitely wasn’t bad. Their dynamic did change a bit when no one was around, though. Katsuki didn’t hide like he normally did, which was saying a lot because he normally treated Eijirou different than the “extras” in their class.
“Eijirou! Let’s go!” Katsuki groans, shaking himself back and forth on the rail like a child.
This was something he often did just because he could. He also had a habit of rocking back and forth in general, which Ei found adorable (he does the same thing).
“Yeah, man! I’m coming! Let me put this shit up!” Eijirou yawns and gathers the papers from a project he was supposed to turn in before break. He HAD a little extra time because he was called out on a mission with Fat Gum for like a week, but it’s still going to be points off.
Pay attention to due dates because extra time doesn’t mean forever, kids!
He walks out into the balcony, where Katsuki was already ready to jump down. He wraps his arms around Katsuki’s shoulders and climbs on, so the other could blast them both down safely.
As the years at UA went on, Eijirou had begun to outgrow Katsuki. It wasn’t by much, but it was still noticeable. With his position as a defensive specialist on the field, rather than an offensive hero like Katsuki, he needed to be bulked up. Katsuki, on the other hand, needed to be aerodynamic, so he worked towards getting a leaner frame.
Their feet hit the ground with a small boom and Eijirou let go of Katsuki.
“Where’re we going, blasty?”
Katsuki smirks proudly and strides over to his new Porsche, “We’re just gonna drive until we can’t anymore. I’m sick of being stuck here, and I gotta break her in anyway.”
Eijirou follows, “Did you get permission to go off campus?”
“It’s break. They’re not gonna be on my dick about going for a drive. Besides, I’m 18 now.”
Eijirou rolls his eyes with a soft grin. He opens the door and climbs into the passenger seat. He didn’t have his drivers license yet, so he made himself at home next to Katsuki before he even got his car.
He remembers Katsuki telling the gang about his plans, and how he and Kaminari had a whole brawl about who got to be the “passenger princess”. It was stupid, but totally worth it!
They eventually agreed that the place would go to Eijirou because Katsuki made it obvious that he didn’t “trust any of the extras to take care of his ‘baby’ properly.” It’s where Eijirou always is, anyway. Right next to Katsuki.
“As if anyone could take your place” Katsuki scoffed to him that night while they watched an old action movie.
As soon as his ass hits the leather, his finger flicks to the seat heater. He ran pretty warm himself, so it wasn’t like he was freezing…it was also 83 degrees outside, but he liked how the heat felt on his lower back. He was usually sore there, as well as in his arms, so the heat offered temporary relief.
“This is pretty nice, Kats!” He speaks loudly to complete with the music already blasting through Katsuki’s speakers. “The new car smell always hits different!”
Katsuki turns down the radio and shifts the gear. He checks all of the mirrors and pulls out of the lot. It’s not until they’re ready to hit the main road that he responds.
He doesn’t do it on purpose, he just has to focus.
“Thanks, Ei,” Katsuki finally says, “Ma was tryin’a talk me out of it, but it was a good deal.”
Eijirou nods as he listens.
His fingers trace the side of the door until they find the switch to roll down the window. He smiles when he presses down and the wind blows harder on his face with every inch that the gap widens.
His bangs fly up and away when he sticks his head out to look at the passing city.
The people walking the streets, the venders trying to sell food, and the music from civilians just going through their lives always made a feeling of warmth bloom in Eijirou’s chest.
He knew what he was fighting for, and it was rushing past him with each block Katsuki sped by.
“Can I be on aux?”
“As long as your music isn’t that sappy, emo shit.”
Katsuki still likes to act like he’s too cool for Eijirou’s AMAZING music taste, but Eijirou has seen all of his playlists.
Eijirou smirks and grabs Katsuki’s phone to open the music app. They knew each other’s passwords for saftey reasons, as well as the fact that their passwords are matching.
Katsuki’s was Eijirou’s birthday, and Eijirou’s was Katsuki’s birthday.
He’s not sure how, but none of their class has caught on yet. Or, at least, not that he knows of. Katsuki is pretty sure Izuku knows, but that could also be from his attempts to get them together.
He remembers the day Katsuki found out that Izuku had a whole journal page dedicated to why their relationship would be beneficial. The blonde flipped out so hard, but he couldn’t really do anything because everything Izuku had written down had been right. ‘The savior and the one saved’ was something that really stuck out to Eijirou. He never really thought about it like that. About how he saved Katsuki in more ways than just Kamino, but that was because he never really had to think about his relationship with Katsuki.
He knew he loved the blonde. He knew what he loved about the blonde. That’s all he needed.
He loved how competitive he was, he loved how they could lean on each other, he loved the silent moments in their dorms, he loved how Katsuki would help him understand subjects in school, he loved their hiking trips during breaks, he loved how his moms and siblings adored Katsuki, and he loved how Katsuki’s mom and dad adored him.
He also loved how honest Katsuki could be, even if it ended up hurting someone’s feelings.
“Dude? When were you listening to Evanescence?!” Eijirou cracks up as he looks at Katsuki’s recently listened to.
“Before I picked you up, fuckin’ obviously.” Katsuki huffs defensively.
Eijirou rolls his eyes with a dopey grin and continues to scroll. His eyes light up when he spots one of his favorite songs, “In the End?”
“Alright.” Katsuki tries to be nonchalant, but they both know he’ll end up singing it at the top of his lungs with Eijirou.
The start of the song crackles through the speakers, and Eijirou gears up for the best concert of Katsuki’s life. It alwasy started slow, but the build up would get Eijirou oh so excited.
This was his shit!
His words are loud and off key when the song finally gets to the good part, but he doesn’t stop. He knows every word like the back of his hand, and he knows Katsuki does too. His hand taps on the side of his door in rhythm, growing louder as the base picks up. His head bops and he can’t help but look at Katsuki with a wide smile.
“You’re so stupid!” Katsuki laughs.
“Come on! -I had to fall, to lose it all!~” He continues to sing, pushing against Katsuki’s shoulder to get him to start singing too.
“I’m not singing this emo shit!” The blonde laughs even harder.
“Stop pretending you don’t picture yourself in a music video to this shit, Kats!” Eijirou laughs just as hard, trying to sing through his giggles.
“It doesn't even matter how hard you try-“
Katsuki starts up after Eijirou’s insistent pushes get him to let free.
They sing together while the world passes them by. One song turns into another, the city starts to fade from view, and Eijirou grows calm enough to lay his head on his arms, halfway out of the window.
“You know, I like this song, but I’m always like…worried about the message, you know?” Eijirou starts offhandedly as ‘After The Storm’ starts to play.
Katsuki’s hand has shifted from the wheel to Eijirou’s own hand during their drive. They didn’t really notice that it had happened because it was so normal for them.
In fact, Eijirou didn’t even process it until a calloused thumb started to run across the back if his hand.
Katsuki hums in acknowledgment. That was usually Eijirou’s sign to keep talking his ear off.
“It’s like…I dunno..Like you should excuse someone’s behavior because they’re like..going through a lot? But it’s also saying to rely on yourself and-“
He drones on and on, but Katsuki never shuts him up. Not how he would with anyone else. He actually loved hearing Eijirou talk, but he wouldn’t tell anyone that. It was relaxing, and a reminder that the other was still there. Still by his side after three years.
They end up driving for two hours before realizing they need gas.
“Where are we, Kats?” Eijirou looks around at the ocean themed decorations that scattered about the town. He didn’t even realize he had fallen asleep mid conversation. With anyone else, he would freak out and apologize like crazy, but he never had to do that with Katsuki.
“Some bay area in Shizouka, I think. They’ve got a lotta fishin’ stuff here.” Katsuki pulls into a run down gas station close to the coast.
He parks by a pump and they both get out. Katsuki walks around to the passenger side to put gas in, and Eijirou stretches like he’s just gotten out if being folded like a pretzel.
He groans contently when he feels a series of pops down his back.
“Want me to run in? I can get a couple drinks and stuff.” He offers to Katsuki.
“Nah, I’ll go in with you. I just gotta finish this, and then we can get a couple things.”
“Are you /hungry/ hungry? Or just snacky?”
“I’m hungry,” Katsuki replies, “Wanna get something other than gas station food? I saw a restaurant selling fish a couple miles back.” The pump clicks to let Katsuki know that it’s finished, and he unhooks it.
“Sure!” Eijirou pulls out his phone to look it up.
They walk into the gas station together, discussing the smell of the ocean in the air and what they should eat. They look through the aisles, scan over their favorite candies, and end up getting $20 worth snacks.
Eijirou’s excuse for this was that ‘extras can be used for a sleepover’.
Honestly, they shouldn’t even call them sleepovers anymore. They’re already basically living in Katsuki’s dorm.
The first couple of months of their relationship, they would stay in Ei’s room…but Katsuki just couldn’t get over the tacky ass decorations. Instead, they merged into Katsuki’s dorm, only sleeping separately when others insist on staying in Eijirou’s dorm.
“Hey there, kids,” The sweet old lady behind the counter says. Her voice was soft, and she had a bit of a country accent that matched her smile. She also happened to have pointed dog ears, so her quirk must’ve had something to do with scent or something dog like. That or she just happened to have dog ears.
Eijirou can’t help but think about what he’ll look like when he’s older. His hair would probably grow grey faster than Katsuki’s, but who knows if Katsuki would keep him around long enough to see.
They’d never talked about a future together before. They’ve discussed hero stuff and how their relationship would be while they worked, but they never looked further than their 30’s.
Kids? Haven’t talked too much about it, but they both want on. Marriage? It’s far too early to talk about that.
“Hello, ma’am,” Eijirou smiles brightly and drops the snacks onto the counter, “Just these please!”
“Oh my! Why aren’t you a hungry boy?”
“Me and my…uhm..friend here are going to share, but us heros do eat a lot!”
Katsuki lets out an amused huff at Eijirou’s hesitation, but nods anyway.
The lady, Mrs. Mie according to her name tag, makes small talk with Eijirou while she scans their items.
She tries to talk to Katsuki, but she catches on to his dismissive behavior and moves on.
“Your total’ll be $29.83!”
Eijirou reaches for his wallet, but Katsuki already has his card ready.
The redhead elbows him in the side with an eye roll, which earns a huff of laughter from the blonde.
They walk out with a final chime of the bell above the door, and get into Katsuki’s new car.
Eijirou reaches for a bag of chips and Katsuki lets out a grunt of disapproval.
“What?”
“Don’t get your crumbs in my new fucking car, Shitty Hair!”
Eijirou gasps in mock offense, “But I’m hungryyyyy!”
Katsuki rolls his eyes and increases his speed since the highway they had pulled on was empty. “Fuckin-Fine. Just don’t get shit everywhere. And don’t tell any of those extras I let you do that.”
“I won’t!” Eijirou beams, opening his bag of selected chips and chowing down.
“Watch your teeth! You’re getting crumbs everywhere!”
“Are you making fun of something I can’t control?” Eijirou gasps in mock offense.
Katsuki groans and rolls his eyes. “I’m never letting you near my precious baby again.”
“Wowwwwwwwwwww. So now you love your car more than your own boyfriend?”
“Maybe. I know she won’t get crumbs everywhere,” Katsuki says. A smirk spreads across his face, and he cuts his eyes to Eijirou.
“She….I can’t believe you’re not only cheating on me with a car..but your gay ass has decided it’s a girl!” Eijirou throws his arm over his face to strike a dramatic pose. As the cherry on top, he peeks out from his elbow to flutter his eyes innocently.
Katsuki finds himself cackling out loud. He shoves a hand into Eijirou’s shoulder, and then focuses back on the road.
“You still wanna hit up that seafood place? Or wanna go home before Ma and your parents have our asses for ditching Musutafu?”
Eijirou’s face drains at the thought of his moms finding out he and Katsuki took a last minute road trip up the coast.
He looks out of the window and his lips drop to a slight pout, “This is so bunz..”
“We can always come back.” Katsuki assures with a Eijirou.
“What about for spring break? We can plan more and stuff.”
“That’s fine. Home?”
Eijirou groans, but nods anyway.
