Chapter Text
It should've been easy.
Life always has. You stress too much over work? Sleep on the weekends. Parents annoy you? Lock yourself in your room. Bored? Play games. That's how easily solutions have always appeared to you.
Then why is it that this still bothers you? Why does the ghost of your own past haunt you every single day?
"Stop! You're tickling me!" Your own giggles filled the room as his hands pulled you closer on the bed.
"What? Can't I cuddle closer to my own girlfriend?" He says, laughing despite your painless kicks. This is how every morning has been. It starts at 6:30 a.m., as your "serotonin" alarm rings. Thirty minutes before you actually wake up, so that you can laugh and cuddle consciously with your boyfriend. It's routine now.
You lie awake on your older sister, Jane's bed. You have your own room, but prefer to sleep in her warmth. She had woken you up at 6:50 a.m. sharp, just to give a small goodbye kiss on your cheek and an "I love you" before she left for her teaching job. Her life has been far from easy. Older sister responsibilities, as it's popularly termed.
Jane had a boyfriend, Sunghoon. The guy who you trust like the back of your hand, but have never held a long conversation with yet. It's been barely 4 months anyway. You have plenty of time. He's a little intimidating, to be honest.
You were a bit surprised when you found out your sister was dating someone two years younger than her, but seeing Sunghoon's maturity answered all your questions. He was in the same university as you, studying Architecture. Him and a few other guys were in a friend group, a member of which you were dating. Yang Jungwon.
7:00 a.m., your phone reads. You curl on your side, pushing your thick blanket over your head as you unlock your phone. It only has notifications from Jungwon from the night before.

You laugh upon reading them. Yang Jungwon has never once failed a test, let alone score average. He was always in the 80% range with you. In fact, the reason you both started dating was because you two were the only ones who stayed till closing time in the library, drunk on americano while writing practice tests. It was scary for you to walk back home alone, so you shakily approached him once to ask for company. He lived nearby, so he agreed despite himself. Being introverts, you both hated being with people when it wasn't necessary. Jungwon however, kept you as an exception.
"Y/N, I'm thinking of something, and if we're not on the same page, I'll be really sad." He says, matter-of-factly. His head down, and voice being barely audible gives away the fact that his confidence is fake.
"We've been studying, hanging out, eating, talking-- doing everything together. And while I enjoy it, I've come to a realisation." He locks eyes with you, the streetlights present in front of your house illuminating his soft features. You see his mouth open as if he's going to say something, but he closes it back. After what seemed like an eternity,
"L/N Y/N, I have a crush on you."
And that's how you started dating. He's the perfect boyfriend, truly. Barely any drama, carefully learnt what you like and what you don't, doesn't start stupid fights, and is insanely attractive. Everyone in your life loves him. You love him. Your whole world is round with cute dimples. Seriously, neither of you would have it any other way.
But, there's always a problem in seemingly "perfect" things.
The problem here? You're still not over your ex.
