Work Text:

After hours of walking around the town, Luka came across a grocery store. He checked the door. Closed. He sighed in disbelief.

‘What does father need from here again?’ He took the paper out of his pocket, double-checking the list.

Shopping list:

-Toilet paper

-Applesauce

-Gelatin

-Hair spray

-Love’s Baby Soft perfume

-Flour

-Eggos, this is the most important. Do anything in your power to get it.

Luka has reached his destination and yet, he was unsure. This cannot be the supermarket. And additionally, it was closed. Going inside will get him in trouble and despite that, his father is still making him do it, despite the consequences. Gustling cold wind hits against his skin. The streets were dark and empty. He hadn't nowhere else to go anyways.

Luka carefully opened the door, trying not to make a sound. The door creaked. He turned around, checking for any bystanders. After a few seconds, he slipped into the store.

He closed the door and looked around the store. The store was dark and empty, with only a few dim lights to be seen—the employees must've forgotten to turn those off. Luka walked around stealthily, checking every corner for any employees or possible intruders—you can never be 100% safe. He took out the list from his pocket. ‘So this must be in the toiletries aisle.’ Searching around the aisles. Another gust of wind hit his skin; He pulled up his hood and walked along, scanning for toilet paper.

He's reached the aisle and searched through th shelves, scanning for toiler paper. ‘Cotton buds, cotton balls, wipes, tissue—’ Luka stopped, he must've found it already. ‘No, wait. This isn't toilet paper, nevermind’ After a little bit of searching, Luka’s finally found it. He ticked it off the list.

Luka went and headed over to the baking section to find flour and gelatin. A variety of baking ingredients awaits him. He picks the ones with the best quality but still cheap enough to fit his budget.

After obtaining the flour, he hovered over to the shelves of gelatin. He tried to reach for the packet. Stretching his arm wasn't enough, so he tiptoed his way. His fingers finally reached the packet, however he stepped on a puddle of water causing him to slip. Luka grabbed onto the shelves, but accidentally took things instead.

An avalanche of food coloring, packets and flavoring extracts fell on him. Injuring him from the fall. That's gonna be an additional cost—no, wait there's no employees, so that must mean.. Luka got up and cleaned up the mess. He took the packet of gelatin and ticked them off the list. 3 down, 4 more to go.

By now, Luka has ticked off almost everything on the list. All that's left was Eggos. Lately, he noticed that his father indulged in human food—especially Eggos. Soft, sweet, fun, soggy and highly-processed. Heperu loved eating Eggos—especially when they're frozen and dribbled in gelatin powder. Ew. He definitely had a weird taste in food, however Luka didn't further question it.

Luka checked for any employees. A small figure caught his eye. He looked back again. No one was there. He swore someone was just there. The desserts aisle wasn't too far, so he moved on, so he could get this done already.

He went to the aisle, checking for Eggos. His eyes found their way to the Eggos—except, there's only one left. Luka took it without any hesitation. Finally, everything can be ticked off the list. He suddenly stopped in his boots as he was about to leave.

A looming presence lingered around him. Hesitant and nervous, he turned around, just to be met with the same figure he swore was following him around. He looked again—the figure turned out to be a child. The child had a buzz cut and clothes that looked too big on her. She glared at him.

“...”

“Who are you?” Luka asked.

“Give me the Eggos.”

“Huh?” Luka looked at the box. “Oh, this?”

The girl’s glare intensified and her eyebrows furrowed, while clenching her fists. Luka hesitated, slowly backing away from the kid. She continued to walk towards him.

“Sorry, but I need this.” Luka said. “How about you go and find another store that sells this,”

“No.” her voice was dangerously low. “Give me Eggos. Now!” She slowly walked towards him. Luka backed off, trying to find an escape.

“Look, I don’t know what’s your problem,” he tried to walk out of it. “But I really, really need this.”

The girl stopped in her footsteps. It must’ve worked—It didn’t. She rushed towards him and Luka ran in the opposite direction. He looked back and saw the shelves falling down. Adrenaline hit his veins. His heart beat faster. Luka had to run away as fast as possible. He sprinted like he never did before, running from aisle to aisle. The girl chased him down.

Luka was already out of breath and on the verge of collapsing, so he stopped and rested. While he was trying to catch his breath, the girl was already closing on him. He got up immediately and began running again.

The chase continued on and while Luka ran, he stepped into another puddle, making him slip down to the ground. He looked back and the girl was rushing at him. He was done for. With a little bit of willpower remaining, Luka got up and started running on all fours until he managed to get up.

Unfortunately, he reached a dead end and the girl was about to jump him. He was genuinely done for. The girl used her powers. Luka flew into shelves. The shelves fell from the force and his weight. Luka couldn't move a muscle. The girl wiped the blood off her nose and walked towards him. She took the box of Eggos. Luka’s eyes hovered onto the tattoo on her wrist. 011. Once she got her hands on the box, she ran away.

Luka was too weak to get up. Box fell on his face. It was Eggos. He groaned and just stayed there, waiting to regain enough strength to get up.

While incapacitated, he heard footsteps and chattering—someone must've come in. He used up all his strength to move. Eventually, he managed to crawl towards another shelf and he looked through to check them. The people were getting closer. He tried to remain calm despite his condition. Luka peeped through the space between the shelves to spy on them. The chatter grew louder and closer.

A flashlight was pointed towards Luka. He was blinded from it and when he opened his eyes again, he saw a group of kids standing in front of him.

“Have you seen a bald girl come in here?”
