Everyone in the room could tell Joe was processing the news his sister Amira had just shared with them.
Amira: "Nicky, have I just broken your boyfriend? He is normally not that quiet."
Nicky chuckled.
Nicky: "That's true, but give him a moment to process the news."
Amira nodded, and five long minutes later, Nicky could tell Joe was about ready to ask some questions.
Joe: "Are you a cat or something?"
Amira and Nicky looked at each other.
Amira: "Okay, I admit it, I didn't expect that question."
Nicky: "Neither did I. Joe, what kind of questions is that?"
Joe: "How else do you explain that Amira is pregnant with triplets if she isn't a cat?"
Joe pointed at the sonogram, showing three babies.
Nicky: "That's what happens sometimes. And instead of comparing Amira to a cat, you should say congratulations, and how much you're looking forward to becoming an Uncle."
Joe: "Yes, you're right as always. Come here, Amira."
Amira let Joe hug her.
Joe: "I'm so happy for you and Patrick. And I cannot wait to spoil my...What are they? Girls or boys?"
Amira: "According to the midwife, they are all girls."
Joe: "I'm having nieces."
Joe looked at Nicky, who smiled.
Joe: "Can Nicky also be an Uncle? I mean, I need someone who can control me when I want to buy the entire toy shop."
Amira: "Of course, but only if he promises to help me with baking birthday cakes."
Nicky: "I can do that, and I promise to make sure Joe won't buy the entire toy shop."
Amira: "Thanks."
Amira placed her hand on her mouth.
Amira: "And now I need a bathroom. Sorry."
Amira sprinted towards the bathroom.
Joe: "What was that about?"
Nicky: "If I had to guess, I would say it was morning sickness. And that's perfectly normal during a pregnancy."
Joe kissed Nicky.
Joe: "I'm so glad I got you to explain to me stuff, or else I would panic more than I'm doing right now."
Nicky: "You can thank my seven big sisters that I know stuff about pregnancy."
Joe: "I'll later. What can I do to help Amira right now?"
Nicky: "While I call Patrick so that he can get Amira home, you could ask her if she wants watermelon or crackers."
Joe spun around on the spot.
Joe: "Got it. Feed my sister, I can do that."
Nicky laughed.
Joe: "What?"
Nicky kissed Joe.
Nicky: "Nothing. And maybe you should wait with offering Amira something to eat until she has left the bathroom."
Joe: "Great idea. While waiting, I'll cut some watermelon."
Nicky: "You do that."
When Nicky returned to the kitchen, he found Joe talking with Amira while they ate watermelon. After telling Amira that Patrick was on his way, Nicky joined Joe and Amira at the table, and while they ate watermelon, they talked about the tripplets.
