PROLOGUE
November 6th, 1983
An earsplitting, blaring alarm is heard within the confines of the Hawkins National Laboratory. A door slams open. The lead scientist is running towards the elevator just hallways away. The lights tinted blue flashes rapidly as he slams on the elevator button. Finally, the elevator door opens.
Without further hesitation he ducks under the slowly opening door. He impatiently stares into the hallway. The only thing staring back at him are the lights that seem to glow as bright as a dozen suns in his eyes. But the lights aren’t the only thing that has its eyes on him.
Above him a slow growl arises just feet away from his bald, shining head. As he turns his head up, he spots a monster–human-like but not, no eyes, but hundreds of teeth–that stares into his eyes. He tenses; this will be the last thing he sees.
