Work Text:
Lucy knows Tim’s love language is physical touch. He always likes to have her close especially when they are in bed. He’s always touching her, he’s always close to her no matter what. And she loves it, she actually prefers to have him close. Usually she wants some space in bed, and with every other person she has been with that’s the way it had been.
But with Tim.
It was the exact opposite.
She always wants him— close to her, touching her. And it soon rubbed off on her. She sometimes moves over to him, and clings onto him. Sometimes she’s the first to keep him close especially after she went undercover and was away from him for 4 weeks.
4 weeks too many.
She looks over at him, and sees he’s reading the book that she got him for Valentine’s Day. He has his eyes on the page but she has her eyes on his face.
“I thought you read that while I was gone.” She says. Tim pauses and puts the book down and looks over at her.
“I did.” He says. “I wanted to read it again.” Lucy scoots closer to him. She remembers him telling her that it was the book that got through him hard times especially with his dad. And now that she knows what she does.
“Oh.” She says and she reaches out to touch his cheek. “I see.” Tim hums softly and picks up the book up again. He has his eyes back on the page, but she still has her eyes on him.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” He asks not taking his eyes off the book. Lucy shrugs and puts her leg between his.
She just wants to be close to him. She wants to cling onto him and just feel his warmth. “I don’t know.” She says. “You are just focusing on reading that book.”
“Okay.” Tim puts the book down again but this time on the bedside table and turns to look at her. “What’s going on?”
“Nothing.” She says. “I can’t just cuddle with my boyfriend.”
“No you can.” Tim says. “And I love that you are but it’s usually me that wants to cuddle.”
“I know.” Lucy says and she lays her head down on his chest. God she loves him. She loves that he’s more comfortable than her pillow. She loves to hear his heart beating in her ear. It comforts her. “I just like that we can do this.”
“Cuddle?” Tim asks and he sounds amused but happy. His voice is light and airy.
“Among other things.” She says. Tim hums softly and she feels a soft kiss on the top of her head.
“Well I like she you cuddle me.” Tim mutters and she scoots closer to him. She hears his heart beating.
It’s perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Lucy walks into the kitchen and sees Tim at the counter pouring some milk into a bowl. “Hi. Good morning.” Tim says and she immediately sidles up next to him and he wraps his arm around her shoulder.
“Good morning.” She says. “Cereal?” Tim hums softly and picks up one of the bowls to hand to her. She takes it from him and gives him a smile.
“I have to go shopping for more breakfast stuff.” He says. Lucy shrugs her shoulders, she doesn’t really mind. She never really got around to having breakfast when she was at the apartment. She always seemed to run out of time. Cereal was better than nothing.
“I didn’t used to eat breakfast.” She says. “So this is perfect. Thank you.” Tim nods and she realizes they still haven’t let go of one another.
They spent all night curled up to one another and now she was clinging to him like she didn’t just wake up with her head on his chest.
“I know.” Tim says. “That’s not healthy. You need to at least eat something in the morning.” He lifts his spoon up to put in his mouth and the thorns to look at her. She eats some of the cereal before putting the bowl down and wrapping both her arms around his waist.
“So when you wake me up extra early with your head between my legs. Is that your breakfast?” She asks. Tim’s mouth twitches a little and then he schools a neutral expression.
“Yes.” He says. “For me.” Lucy rolls her eyes and reaches over to pick up her bowl again. She’s fully capable of stepping back and giving Tim some space but—
She won’t get to cuddle him until tonight, and she wants to get in as much as possible.
“I love you.” She says. She takes another bit of cereal and he looks down at her, a soft look in his eyes. She loves that she gets to see him like this every morning and it’s just them. Because as soon as he gets to work, he goes into Sergeant Bradford mode which is just as endearing but she has to admire him from afar.
“I love you too.” He says. He puts his bowl aside and then takes hers and puts it next to his. “You are awfully clingy today.”
“I just love you.” She says. “And I like being near you. Is that so bad?” Tim shakes his head
“Not at all.” He says. “It just makes leaving you harder to do.” He leans down to give her a kiss.
“Good.” She says. “That will make coming home that much better.” She steps away and gives him a smile.
“I’m your ride.” He says. “Don’t get too excited.” Lucy rolls her eyes a little and maybe they were still getting this morning routine down but to her it was perfect.
Just perfect.

Lucy drags herself into the house, she knows Tim is right behind her but she can’t help but stop and wait for him in the doorway. She hears his steps and then she latches onto him before he has even stepped through the door.
“Hi.” He says as if they didn’t just ride home together hand in hand. But she doesn’t care, she has a rough day and all she wants to do is curl up with Tim.’he must understand because he presses a kiss to the top of her head and leads her to the living room.
They both fall on the couch and she snuggles into his side. She closes her eyes and she really doesn’t want to move for a long time. She just wants to stay here with her man, the love of her life.
“Rough day?” He mutters. Lucy takes a deep breath and then nods her head.
“Yes.” She says. “I seem to be having a lot of those. Tim lets out a breath, and she loves times like this. Just her and Tim.
“Well.” He says. “I will always be here to help you.”
“And cuddle.” Lucy mutters and she’s exhausted. She’s pretty sure she’s going to fall asleep before they even decide on dinner.
“And cuddle.” He confirms. “Always.” Lucy scoots closer to him and she’s so grateful for him. Even on the bad days, and the frustrating days. The good and bad.
“Good.” She says and she’s exhausted blows out a breath. At least she knows she will have time to fall back on.
“I love you.” She says.
“I love you too.” He says and it might not be perfect but she will do anything she can to keep him close and that’s all that matters.
