Chapter Text
With the power of friendship, the weapon was destroyed! (More-so the power of “I don’t want to fucking explode.”) Nonetheless, most of the sinners seemed to agree that the fact that they all lived was something worth celebrating, even if the overlords would rather not acknowledge their teamwork.
Every sinner can finally see proof that Sir Pentious was redeemed, and things seemed to be looking up!Charlie and Emily were both ecstatic that everything ended up worked out. “Emily! Holy fuck we did it!! the power of friendship is strong within us!!!” They both went over to help Lucifer out of the dirt, along with other sinners who still seemed to be shaken up from all the events that took place. A lot did happen at once after all.
After some time, the adrenaline rush Emily had was beginning to die down. She was really starting to feel the pain of practically having a limb degloved now. But she couldn’t worry about that now. No. Definitely not. There are still confused, traumatized sinners that may need some words of assurance! Some could even trapped under all the rubble! They need to be rescued!
Yeah, no. Her wing can wait. Definitely. For sure.
-
Emily looked over her shoulder just to see Sera had come here via portal.
Oh.. She looks worried sick.
Emily gave her a smile. She hoped it looked genuine. Reassuring. To be fair, it was partly so. She was genuinely happy to see her sister, and she was fine for the most part!
Sera could not help but tear up at the sight of her younger sister, her wing practically shredded. There was so much blood! Too much! Her wing was practically soaked in gold.
Sera wasn’t sure if Emily was truly aware of how awful it looked.
She pulled Emily into an embrace, careful not to touch her bloody wing. In that moment, she did not seem to care that Emily was being brave. Sera already knows she is brave. Even if Emily was a sobbing mess, Sera would still consider her beyond brave for what she has done. She was just glad that her sister was alive.
Emily bid her farewells to her friends (and gave Charlie a big hug) before going back to heaven with Sera.
-
“Emily.. Oh Emily…” Sera mumbled partly to herself, as if the severity of Emily’s injury was also something she hasn’t fully processed when they were in hell. Either way, the guilt is crushing and her heart is breaking.
“It’s okay Sera! I’m here! We stopped the war! Sinners can finally see what Charlie was trying to tell them! Things can only get better from here! Including my wing..”
Sera smiled, she admired how optimistic Emily could be. She always was. Maybe because things ended on a good note for both heaven and hell, Sera could better understand her optimism this time. Sera preferred to be realistic over optimistic. She didn’t like to believe in something that was too good to be true. Maybe this time is different.
Sera brushed those thoughts away. She could think more in depth about that situation later. Right now, she needs to focus on present Emily.
“I truly hope you know that I absolutely cannot live without you with me. You could’ve died..”
Emily couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt from her words. She knew Sera meant no harm, and she really couldn’t blame her. Maybe Emily would feel the same way if she put herself in Sera’s shoes. Emily could not come close to imagining a life without her sister.
“I know.. and you’re right. I’m sorry things had to get that dangerous-“
“Emily no! Don’t say sorry.. Please.. I don’t want you to be sorry. I just.. want you to know that I love you.. and I need you here more than anything else. Here come on, let’s see what we can do for your wing.” Sera looked at it up and down again. “That looks beyond painful.”
“Well, it’s not the best feeling I’ve ever felt in my life! But.. yeah if that’s want you want to do let’s fix it!”
“I- yes of course thats what I wan- never-mind come on.”
-
Pentious and Abel both waited for Emily and Sera. They ran into each other on the way here. Both Abel and Pentious refused to not be here with them after seeing Emily’s wing.
They waited in the room where Abel, Sera, and St. Peter had their discussion about what they should do about hell potentially attacking heaven. It was a calming, beautifully decorated room, but that did not help lessen either angel’s concern for Emily.
“Well I didn’t think I would see a featherless… and skinless.. wing tonight. Yeowch..” Abel said somewhat casually, but it was easy to tell he clearly cared just by hearing his tone.
Pentious could only nod in agreement, though he did seem a little less squeamish than Abel, as he lived in hell for 100+ years and has seen and experienced.. many ways sinners (including himself) have gotten injured or killed, but this only made Pentious have even more empathy.
Sera walked into the room with Emily. Both Abel and Pentious looked to see that Emily had a gold, prosthetic wing.
“Oh, that’s kinda like what Lute has isn’t it?” Abel asked as he looked at both of them, but the question was mainly directed at Sera.
“That’s correct. I used the same magic and material on Emily as I did Lute.”
“Emily? How does it feel? Do you like it?” Pentious asked, hopeful.
“I do! and it feels great! I love the gold! It isn’t better or worse than my real wing, it’s only different! And that’s okay!!” Emily turned back to Sera “Thank you again for helping me! I’m truly so lucky to have you!!”
“As I said, it’s the very least I can do for you.” Sera took a look at all three of them
“It’s getting late and I’m sure everyone is tired. Why don’t you all get some rest? Everybody did great today. We couldn’t have saved heaven nor make peace with hell without you.”
“Is there anything else you need your highness? I’m good if there is y’know”
“I only need you to rest for now Abel. Thank you. You too Pentious.”
-
After parting ways with her friends and her sister, Emily went to her own room and climbed into her bed. She was starting to feel it now. She was quite exhausted. This is probably just because of the day she had. Nothing else. Surely.
What she told her friends about her new wing was true. It wasn’t better or worse, just different. She was eternally grateful that she could still have a fully functioning wing at all after what happened. It definitely felt just as different as it looked. That would take some getting used to, but Emily is sure she can handle it.
With those thoughts out of the way.. Emily realized she felt… off.
Now this is not the first time she realized this, as this feeling first came about maybe a couple of hours ago, but there was too much going on around her, she didn’t pay much mind to it, and she probably couldn’t have even if she wanted to.
But now that she was alone, with nothing else to do but to sleep, she could fully acknowledge and feel this “off” feeling.
Whether that was a good thing or not she wasn’t sure of yet, because at this moment, she’d rather just sleep, but this “off” feeling is keeping her up. She truly did not know how to describe it. She has never felt anything like this before. She knew for sure it wasn’t pleasant.
Emily vaguely thought about getting Sera before drifting into an uneasy sleep. Maybe she would feel better in the morning.
