Work Text:
Today was the day. Jin was quite excited about this. It wasn’t every day that he and Toga got a quiet enough day to have a sleepover. Bonus, he was having such a good day in terms of keeping himself together!
There was always the possibility of him splitting, but for the entire day, he was fine. Jin was able to go the entire day without wearing his mask.
Toga was bouncing around, gathering everything they’d need for tonight.
Shigaraki was glad to see them leaving him alone, the same with Dabi. The two rowdier members of the League were always finding ways to annoy the leader and fire user, so having a night where they could go without being frustrated was a blessing.
However, as Jin was sitting with Toga, curling into each other as they watched a movie, he felt it. The head-splitting pain that always came before he began to separate from himself.
Why? He had been doing so well! He hadn’t brought his mask for that very reason, too! How was Jin supposed to keep himself together when he didn’t have the mask? It wasn’t as if he could walk in his state, and he wasn’t about to ask Toga to leave just to get it. Jin couldn’t do that to her.
Toga had already helped him enough when it came to mask troubles, like during the Overhaul situation. His mask had been cut over his left eye, and he started to lose control. That wouldn’t have been so bad had it not been for the two of them being there to cause as much damage to Overhaul as possible in retribution for what he did to Compress and Big Sis.
Nothing they could have done to the bastard would have helped the feeling of guilt in Twice’s gut at the loss of Magne and the arm of Compress being stolen from his body. Compress still had trouble controlling the new mechanical arm Giran was able to get for him. Not to mention utilizing his quirk through said metal.
While Jin was panicking, he didn’t realize he was shaking, clutching his head in pain. Toga felt his shivers and instantly grew worried. Like Jin, she had believed things were going well for him today. Unfortunately, it seemed like they were overconfident. Maybe someday Twice would be able to go for long periods of time without his mask, but today wasn’t that day.
She needed to find a substitute, and fast. Looking around, all she could find was a pillowcase. “That will have to do, I suppose.” Taking the pillowcase, she cut out two holes for eyes and forced it onto her friend’s head.
“What?” Jin whimpered. The pain had dulled, but his confusion hurt just as much.
“You were in pain,” Toga told him. “And while usually I’d like that, not when it’s you.”
Twice stared at the blonde for a moment, letting out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding. “You’re the best friend I could ever ask for,” he sighed out, before his mind decided to disagree with him. “You’re the worst! I wish you’d let me split!”
Toga only giggled, knowing that Jin wouldn’t say that and mean it. Jin was always telling her how much it hurt and that he hated when it happened. She was the only one in the League who knew why he refused to make clones of himself, and could understand why.
If she had been in the same situation, she probably wouldn’t have wanted to use her quirk either.
“Let’s hold off on the rest of the movie for now and just focus on making sure you’re alright, yeah?”
