Work Text:
Silent and deadly, waiting outside the dressing room as people look at the door their eyes blazing. She watches as people itch to get past him and into the room with their favorite celebrity. The long line of people waiting to shake his hand and meet the mans he is guarding is vast but thankfully no one is willing to join together to mob her, making the situation manageable.
Her eyes glance around, her face stoic, as she glances around for any threat. Her ears are soon full of squeals of Adriens Agrestes fans as the door she is guarding opens up. Adrien sweet and shy as always, gives them a little wave as he makes him way to the autograph table.
She follows silently behind him taking place in front of the table. Marinette waits after each fan comes up and talks to him for a brief moment before the next. It takes hours and Adrien does not look for a moment like he is exhausted. Still has that bright smile and demeanor manner of his.
Finally the event is over. The can finally move on to the next event. The interview. She can relax for a moment as the area will be better protected than the open fan event. She could even sit down for a bit. Can even stare at her charge for how ever long the interview takes.
Adrien for his part would look at her in the corner of his eye every time she glances at him, he would quickly look away. It makes her uneasy. She knows he like her but this job is too important for her to lose. If Gabriel Agreste hears about any untoward action then there goes her job, her own financial security.
She does want him though. That brief moment during the masquerade ball where they shared a brief kiss. That moment plays in her head on loop for as long as the night is long. Unfortunately too much is at stake for her to ever indulge.
The get into the car, it is a long drive to the studios but it will be worth it to finally get a little break. From driving to guarding her work requires a lot from her. It pays a lot too, helping her pay for her fathers care.
The fire took basically everything they had. Marienettes promising future torn to shreds as she had to from everything to help her mother repair the bakery and get it up again to ensuring that her father is properly taken care of. The fire had nearly killed him. They have not really financially recovered from it either.
The thought of her family being left in the dust for some quick romance has her steeling her resolve. Her mothers desperation and her fathers agonizing breaths leaves her stonily keeping her eyes off of her charge. No matter how much her heart thunders against that decision her family comes first.
