Monsterverse Gamera

Summary:

In a world of Monsters, this alternate universe takes place in a world where ancient humans have not only come in contact with Hollow Earth and its Titans but have mastered their understanding of Hollow Earth's energy and learned to create their own Titans to dominate both HE and the surface world. Many Titans died in this human takeover, allowing them to create new monsters in their place. However, these new monsters turned on them and threatened to destroy both mankind and the world. Humanity's ancestors sought to correct their mistakes by creating one last Titan to annihilate their creations and maintain balance in nature in the place of his original predecessors.
Time passes and now new and old threats emerge in a modern world of humans that have forgotten their ancient origins. They are helpless, save for a secret organization that seeks to uncover the secrets of the ancient past and the ancient humans' Last Hope.

This is the story of Monsterverse Gamera!

Personality:

Due to his origins, Gamera was created as a failsafe measure for Man's hubris and, therefore, actively concerned for the well-being of the planet from the very beginning; he is a fearless and heroic guardian of the world and, most importantly, its Titans. He is classified as a "protector" by Monarch, who consider him the greatest defender of the planet under most circumstances, as he emerges to battle any aggressors which threaten the balance of nature, if not all life on Earth. He is a fearless protector who will destroy his enemies without any intention of showing mercy, like his template, Godzilla. Whenever Gamera is not in combat, the organization describes him in a similar manner to his genetic templates, Godzilla and Mothra, for being as "benevolent, graceful, and naturally curious towards life he relates to." Whenever given the opportunity, Gamera will show behavior similar to Mothra and protect humans, especially children, even when he will show a disregard for the destruction and death he causes as collateral damage when he is preoccupied with stopping a pressing threat. When it comes to his relationship with humanity, Gamera counts them as part of nature and will defend them as best as possible, as he does the world and other Titans. He never once retaliates against humans when he is attacked, even when he is actually injured by them. Keiko Miura, who formed a psychic link with Gamera that allows her to read his thoughts, described how Gamera actively fights for all life on Earth, and humans are just one thing on that list. He tirelessly battles against the abominations of Man's gifts, such as the Gyaos, as they are monsters that seek to destroy all life on the Earth for their own survival, including other Titans--As he was created as a guardian of the world, Gamera will destroy them and all other unnatural threats to Nature to restore balance like his genetic templates. Ancient temples and hieroglyphics depict him being shunned and avoided by natural-borne Titans, who can sense his artificial nature and refuse to recognize him as a fellow Titan, leaving him alone and his only remaining connection to the world being the descendants of his very creators, Humans. Regardless, he understands the importance in maintaining balance in nature and will keep fighting to the end, even if he stands alone.

Abilities

  • Genetically-engineered Titan physiology: Due to his artificial upbringing, he was created as a Bio-Ultraviolet Titan with the genes of the world's strongest Protector Titans and humans, granting him a unique humanoid-Titan nature with various, mixed abilities aimed for both his survival and guaranteed victories in his battles against numerous threats to the world and the life it harbors.
    • Bio-ultraviolet nature: Depicted in ancient murals as the "Monster Born From a Star," Gamera was created as a BIo-ultraviolet Titan who absorbs radiation from the Sun, as well as similar forms of energy, to both sustain and empower himself him with massive metabolic intake he requires to function and fight his battles. Like most Titans, he may also absorb more conventional forms of radiation should he be unable to be granted immediate access to the Sun. The Sun, however, is his most vital power source--he absorbs and processes so much energy from the Sun that it grants him the energy he needs to fight his battles.
      • Plasma Conversion Furnace: The internal organ responsible for sustaining his artificial body with abnormal means of energy absorption, it converts solar energy into plasma energy by fusing it with the electrons, protons, and atomic nuclei in his blood. Monarch scientists that study his physiology, theorize that if he absorbs enough energy from electromagnetic solar winds in a rapid rate, he may evolve into something beyond his ordinary means of chromosomal manipulation. Alternate power sources, such as thermal sources from plutonium, coal, and oil, can also be converted into plasma energy in the absence of solar energy.
    • Flight: Gamera's most unique and abnormal ability, even amongst Titans, is his capability to fly--When he tucks his head and limbs into his shell, he has the ability to shoot out plasma flames to propel himself in the air like a rocket and fly at hypersonic speeds, whether its by spinning rapidly or flying forward in the air like a jet. This is possible, as his palms and feet wield dual pairs of pressurized shelled pads connected to hollow passages within Gamera's arms and legs. When he needs to fly, he tucks his limbs to fold them inside his shell, relieving the pressure in the pads to open up, line up with the passages giving direct access to Gamera's core, and shoot out plasma flames. He uses all four limbs when he needs to fly like a rotating disc, but only his legs when he needs to fly forward like a jet. He has seamless transition in switching between his ordinary form and Flight Form of either kind, though Monarch scientists theorize that when he spends enough time flying, he will naturally evolve to grant himself more essential means of flight, whether its shrinking his head to make his body more aerodynamic for Flight Form or to make fin-like projections in his shell to act as air brakes.
      • Rocket Flight: In this specific form of flight, Gamera is capable of flight at hypersonic speeds by tucking his legs and tail into his shell and flies through the air like a jet, with his head extended and his arms held at his side. His flipper-like arms act like wings in this form of flight, allowing him to perfect his mobility and thus reach Mach 3 at altitudes of 10,000 meters, Mach 6 at 30,000 meters, and 20 kilometers per second when outside of Earth's atmosphere. When he needs a speed boost, he can force more energy through his jets to create a large fire boost, similar to that of a space shuttle, to go faster than usual. When underwater, he may have more drag underwater than in the air and may have more resistance due to the water constantly reducing the heat of his plasma jets but he can still go up to 300 knots underwater.
      • Disc Flight: Gamera's other flight mode involves him retracting his head, limbs, and tail into his shell and firing jets from all four limb holes. Gamera is propelled into the air and begins to spin like a flying saucer, building up speed as he progressively spins faster and faster. Gamera's flight path is not as precise and accurate in this flight mode due to his head and arms being tucked away; however, he is still capable of navigation in this mode despite the rapid spinning and lack of visibility. It also allows him to attack enemies, where he can throw off enemies clinging onto his shell, cut through enemies with the sharp edges of his shell, burn enemies with close proximity of his jets' flames, blind enemies on the ground with rapid blowoff of dust and particles in disc form, and ram enemies with his shell.
    • Solar Breath: His primary means of ranged attack, Gamera can charge up his energy to produce Plasma flames that are as hot as Godzilla's atomic breath but distinct in the nature of its energy. When Gamera charges his solar breath, he draws energy from his bio-solar circulatory system and core which activates when he is threatened. This triggers a plasma flux that manifests as a red glow on the bottom side of his shell in runic-like patterns that slowly move from bottom to top--serving as energy reserves for his solar power. Finally, the energy reaches the plasmasynthetic glands in his throat chambers, where it fuses and compresses plasmas and oxygen. Gamera then ionizes the condensed energy and spews a red blast of flame, which is capable of performing similar feats of destruction to Godzilla's bio-atomic energy rays; destroying Gyaos within range in milliseconds, pushing back Titans as large as him, leaving severe burns on Titans that burn for hours even if they tank a full blast, and even theoretically capable of drilling into Hollow Earth if he wanted to. They have a minimum surface temperature of 6,000 degrees Kelvin, so they can be charged to much greater heat capacity for greater effect in destroying his targets. His eyes, bottom shell, and interior of his mouth glow red while using it, both as a means of showing his intent to fire and as an "intimidation display." He can use his trademark fire ability in three different ways:
      • Solar Fireballs: After condensing his plasma energy to a significant degree, he can expel short bursts of flames in the form of plasma fireballs known as "Solar Fireballs," from his mouth. He tends to use them at long range for enemies in the air or too far to reach with his Solar Flame Jet, where they are weaker in comparison but more precise and condensed enough to create large explosions capable of wiping out entire buildings in one hit, incinerate and vaporize whole body parts of Titans, and even kill opponents like the Gyaos with a single direct hit. He can also fire these fireballs at a rapid rate like a rotational gatling gun from his throat chambers, though to less devastating effect. He will also use this primary means of attack when he is rapidly spinning in the air in Disc Flight Form to destroy a large wave of enemies attempting to overwhelm him, incase he can't clear them all with his Solar Flame Jet.
      • Solar Flame Jet: After condensing his plasma energy to a lesser degree in his throat chambers, he will release a large and powerful stream of plasma from his mouth and burn everything in his surroundings, if not glass the landscapes and melt his enemies to the very bone. They are more destructive within the blast radius but less accurate as they stretch out further and further, meaning it is not as accurate as his Solar Fireballs but make up for greater damage output. However, as Gamera evolves, his blast output will become stronger, stretch out further, and more condensed to focus on destroying his enemies at close range when his Fireballs are not enough.
      • Solar Pulse: When overwhelmed in combat and left with no possible means of effective damage from his previous two methods, Gamera would overload his internal furnace with Plasma, rapidly condensing and building it up in his core rather than releasing it through his throat chambers until he begins to glow bright red and vent off, at the last second, an enormous shockwave of plasma energy through his shell holes to destroy everything in close proximity. The blast is much more destructive than both of his previous, more common methods, but it is also more dangerous to himself, as he risks self-destructing his entire body to unleash such a massive blast of energy his body is not designed to perform. He is also prone to injuring himself from such an immense overload, leaving him prone to attack and requiring time to heal from the internal damage he's done to his own body. As he evolves, his body may adapt to perform this ability more efficiently and with less risk of self-damage.
    • Evolution: Like one of his genetic templates, Godzilla, Gamera is capable of evolving his being and improve his capabilities throughout history. Like the Gyaos, Gamera can alter his own chromosomes to radically alter his body and enhance his powers to an intense extent--essentially making his body more suited to combat. It is also known that the more energy he absorbs, the faster the process. In ancient times, he was a giant turtle with little to no combat traits that made him initially struggle to fight his battles properly. But as he fought and defeated enemy Titans, his body adapted and mutated to harden his body to combat, making him more battle-ready by the modern era. One such example is that he his arms were shorter and more humanoid in ancient times, but by the modern era, he developed his arms into flippers to fly more efficiently. It is possible that if he also absorbs a enormous amount of solar energy in a short period, his chromosomes may accelerate the alteration process, essentially transforming him into an Evolved form.
    • Telepathy/Telekinesis: Similar to two of his genetic templates, Mothra and Godzilla, Gamera was created with the ability to contact other lifeforms through his mind when he cannot communicate by ordinary means. It is possible that due to his Alpha Titan status, he may be able to command the other Titans using this ability, but due to their refusal to recognize him as one of them, it's unlikely that it will work. However, it is most useful in helping him reach out to humans, as they are the closest and only remaining link to his genome, making him bond better with them than other Titans.
      • Psychic link with humans: His bond is strongest with individual humans when one wears a magatama, an ancient stone that acts as a conduit for Gamera's telepathy--it forms a psychic link between Gamera and the wearer, mentally strengthening both of them and practically merging their minds as one in the process. This is identified as the individual wearing the magatama becoming his priest or priestess, who helps Gamera concentrate in battle by exchanging thoughts and memories similar to a Drift in Pacific Rim, making Gamera stronger when a human mind aids him in battle. While the priest/priestess better understands Gamera and his affiliations, naturally knowing his name and granted hope from sharing Gamera's emotions, Gamera can also read their mind and memories, allowing him to pick on certain skills and traits that enhances his combat capabilities and understanding on how to avoid collateral damage as best as possible. The priest/priestess can also develop a similar sense to Gamera's, allowing them to detect when Titans are within their area and alerting Gamera at the first sign of trouble. However, one side effect is that if the psychic link is strong, the priest/priestess will experience the same injuries as Gamera in battle and maintain a similar state of being; if Gamera is resting at the bottom of the sea to heal, the priest/priestess will sleep for prolonged periods as well. Gamera can also share his own memories, such as previous battles or former priest/priestesses and humans he has met in the past.
      • Rapid healing: Thanks to Behemoth's genes, Gamera appears to have a psychic effect on other lifeforms by inducing rapid healing in nearby life, both fauna and flora as he can instantly heal scars on humans' bodies and revive them from near death if he concentrates. If they are also in a coma or rendered unconscious, Gamera can revive them within a moment's notice. However, if one dies and their corpse is too damaged, he can't revive them. The same can be applied for forests, capable of restoring entire landscapes of jungles he passes through.
    • Combat skills: From both centuries of combat experience and retaining memories he reads from humans who form a psychic link with him, he developed a set of combat skills he can perform in his size, allowing him to practically perform human-like techniques like boxing, strangling, clotheslining, and throwing one over his shoulders.
      • Vanishing Fist: Due to Gamera's experience with his ability to overload his Plasma energy from within, he has learned to charge and transfer some of his Plasma to other parts of his body including his fists--he develops a technique in which he charges Plasma, transfers it to his hand, and pierce and burn enemies from the inside out or blowing them up. This is most effective when he increases the force of the fist via momentum by charging up a Vanishing Fist while flying towards an enemy and jabs it into them.
      • Solar Saw: By retracting all of his head and limbs into his shell and extending the shell's bladed edges, Gamera uses a technique with his Disc Flight form in which he rapidly spins fast with his jets and becomes a giant circular saw, allowing him to cut most Titans in half.
      • Solar Wind: Gamera uses this technique by spinning rapidly in Disc Flight form, then firing Solar Flame Jets in his surroundings, both increasing his speed and setting the entire area in molten hot flames as the quickest and most destructive way to eliminate all his enemies, incase his Solar Pulse is not an option. An alternate variant of this form is when he does the same but with Solar Fireballs.
      • Solar Sphere: Gamera creates a superheated spherical barrier by retracting his head and limbs into his shell, uses his jets to spin at Mach speed, and be able to not only deflect enemy attacks but also burrow into an enemy's body and grinding them to dust.
      • Kiss of Death: Based off of genetic memory from one of his genetic templates, Godzilla, he finishes off an enemy in his grasp by firing his breath directly into their mouth, decapitating and killing them almost instantly.
    • Intelligence: Thanks to both genetic engineering deriving from several genetic templates with remarkable intelligence and centuries of experience, Gamera is a brilliant Titan with human levels of sapience and cognitive/critical thinking. He is known to demonstrate learning and strategy during his many battles with enemy Titans, as he usually picks up quickly on attack patterns and adapts to counter them if he is defeated or critically injured during his first battle with new Titans. If he has faced certain Titans before, he knows their exact weaknesses and can outwit them to eliminate them as efficiently and swiftly as possible. Specifically, he can perform the following feats that showcases his intelligence:
      • He is known to use his environment, such as slamming Titans into buildings or using debris and/or rubble to blind them.
      • He completely ignore human military attacks and does not at any point retaliate, even after being visibly hurt--he constantly avoids unnecessary conflict, even trying to minimize collateral damage, and will peacefully leave a populated area the second he has defeated a threat.
      • He possesses an impressive sense of memory, recalling the day that he first opened his eyes in an ancient human temple where he is created in addition to his first flight and first psychic link, the latter of which led him to develop a conscience. He can faintly recall brief glimpses of ancient memories from his genetic templates, such as Godzilla's lifetime before his downfall and Mothra's early lifetimes. He frequently shows this sense of memory by sharpening his skills, whether its by rotating him in multiple degrees while flying in Disc Form or sharpening his elbow spikes against stone surfaces, like Godzilla can sharpen his dorsal fins against a stone wall.
      • Thanks to his connection with humanity and developing heightened senses he has gained from his genetic templates, he acquired an in-depth degree of self-awareness and omniscience that granted him a vast quantity of knowledge regarding himself, the other Titans, and the planet itself.
      • He can single out specific enemy hideouts and facilities with the aid of his priest/priestess, showcasing that he is capable of pinpointing exact groups of Titans that represent a threat to him and the Earth.
    • Brain: Gamera's brain, specificially his cerebrum, is designed in such a way that his eyes are unaffected by the high-speed rotation he experiences when in flight, thanks in part to the structure of his semicircular canal. In addition, his cerebellum functions as the center of his psychic abilities, granting him the ability to communicate telepathically with his priest/priestess through their magatama.
    • Heightened senses: Thanks to Godzilla's genes, Gamera views the world's oceans as "an extension of himself;" he quickly becomes aware of any disturbances or imbalances and reacts accordingly, with or without a psychic link to humans. By the time the modern era occurred, Gamera has discovered and harnessed an extension of this ability in which, thanks to Mothra's genes, extended to the entire planet, and used it frequently to detect and hunt down threats from around the world, whether they're underwater, on the ground, or in the air. Gamera is theorized by Monarch scientists to feel the various minerals, waters, and the magnetic field of the Earth and the solar radiation that bounces off of it. He is also able to "taste" the atmosphere and the lives and deaths of living organisms on the planet, leading him to develop an intimate understanding of the world he aims to protect. With his psychic link to humans, his senses are shared with his priest/priestess, allowing them to develop a similar sense and detect when nearby Titans are approaching or other how Titans feel.
      • Thermal vision: Thanks to Mothra's genes, Gamera can see multiple bands of electromagnetic spectral radiation, including infrared--allowing him to see his surroundings and enemies in multiple forms of light most other lifeforms can't see themselves.
    • Durability: Due to his incredibly dense body tissues, Gamera is immune to all conventional weaponry, while his shell protects him from most attacks from large scale weapons and other Titans. However, the underside of his shell is not as resilient, and can be penetrated by enemy attacks. Gamera is also resistant to extreme heat, and can submerge himself in molten magma without sustaining any injury. Gamera's physiology is based off of prehistoric sea turtles and modern sea turtles, including that of the Leatherback Sea Turtle, so his shell is initially soft and leather-like to improve agility and speed, but once he needs to defend himself, he can harden his shell, thus making him heavier but more likely to tank damage from enemy attacks. After centuries of fighting Titans and especially the Gyaos, his shell has adapted to becoming extremely resistant, if not impervious, to most minor forms of attacks like a Gyaos' Supersonic Scalpel. His shell also has a streamlined form similar to Leatherback shells to better deflect enemy attacks and to also sharpen the edges to better cut through his enemies in Disc Flight form.
      • Regeneration: Gamera also possesses a healing factor thanks to several genetic templates from his predecessors, allowing him to survive his first encounters with opponents, then return to fight them again. When seriously injured, Gamera can enter a brief state of hibernation, which will allow him to almost completely heal all of his major injuries in a short period of time, from healing lacerations to regrowing entire organs and limbs. This is possible thanks to Godzilla's DNA, which allow his cells to regenerate most damages in a relatively short period of time. After much exposure to similar damages in repeated fights, Gamera's cells can adapt to become resistant, if not immune to direct strikes from enemies Gamera has fought repeatedly in the past and present.
    • Physical abilities: When it comes to close-ranged combat, Gamera favors his physical strength and combat skills over his Solar Flames, especially when in populated areas to avoid excessive collateral damage. He possesses immense physical power, allowing him to physically overwhelm most of his foes in direct combat--through his sheer power alone, he can crush a Gyaos in his hand, rip off horns from enemy Titans and stab them in the eye with it, and even strong enough to lift and toss Titans his size around repeatedly. Despite his size, Gamera is also quite agile, being very fast in both water and in the sky, and even being able to leap at his enemies. Last but not least, Gamera demonstrates the ability to control his strength, as he can be gentle enough to carry humans and set them down safely on the ground, even fight while protecting them if necessary.
      • Tusks: Thanks to Behemoth's genes, he can make use of his tusks, as he uses them to keep his enemies close when he has to tackle them, bite off chunks of them, throw them, or grab them to destroy them up close.
      • Elbow Spikes: Thanks to Methuselah's genes, he can use protruded spikes on his elbows to slash at his enemies alongside his claws.
    • Amphibiousness: Like Godzilla, Gamera has the ability to breathe underwater. He can shapeshift his necks' sides to form gills and breathe underwater, as well as close them up whenever he comes onto land or in the air. He also possesses amphibious lungs, allowing him to breathe both underwater and on land. Godzilla's usual swimming speed is 120-300 knots. If he is not flying underwater, he can propel his body using his flippers at a speed of 40-50 knots. Gamera is capable of swimming extremely quickly and eluding underwater enemies despite his size, as the weight is better handled underwater than on land. Thanks to his aquatic adaptations, Gamera is an extremely powerful combatant underwater as much as he is on land or in the air. He is even able to shapeshift his shell to soften so he may better plunge into deeper parts of the ocean and withstand pressure of up to 10,000 meters and more.
    • Energy absorption: Thanks to his Plasma Conversion Furnace, he can absorb various sources of energy and convert it into plasma energy, both sustaining and empowering himself in the process. His primary method of energy absorption, when not in combat, involves having him rest on land or on the surface of the sea while disguised as a mountain or atoll (thanks to Methuselah's genes helping him camouflage within his environment), and forming as much black color as possible to absorb tons of sunlight for decades, if not centuries when he is not needed. In the modern-day, Gamera is capable of absorbing radiation from not just the Sun but through man-made sources such as nuclear reactors and thermonuclear weapons. Gamera can survive seemingly indefinitely by remaining in a hibernation-like state feeding on the surrounding radiation within Hollow Earth or the surface world in exposure to direct sunlight (desert terrains, usually), slowly growing and recovering from existing injuries. If he absorbs immense amounts of energy in a short period of time, he can recover almost immediately from near death and ready himself for battle, if not store the energy to either form a powerful attack or evolve into a stronger version of himself.
    • DNA absorption: Thanks to Godzilla's genes, Gamera has the ability to ingest specific pieces of Titans not included in his genetic makeup to absorb their DNA and integrate new traits into his body for customized modifications via chromosomal manipulation--contributing to his gradual stages of self-evolution.
    • Camouflage: Thanks to Methuselah's genes, Gamera is able to blend into landscapes and oceans during times of hibernation by masquerading as areas of the surrounding environment, whether its a Canadian archipelago, an iceberg, atoll, or a small mountain.
    • Bioluminescence: Thanks to Mothra's genes, Gamera's body can form bioluminescent lights out of his eyes, mouth, and runic-like patterns on his shell. They can change color, depending on his mood, as he forms red colors when he is about to fire his Solar Flames or is aggravated but turns green when he is calm.
    • Reincarnation: Thanks to Mothra's genes, he has the ability to asexually lay an egg from which he will be reborn following his death. Each new Gamera born from an egg is not just an offspring but a reincarnation that genetically inherits the memories of his previous selves, saving him centuries of having to relearn the same experiences--he is practically immortal, just like his genetic template.
    • Weaknesses
      • Limited durability/regeneration: Though he contains the genes of Godzilla, he is not as durable or regenerative as Godzilla, forcing him to take time in recuperating from his injuries ad gradually adapt to future battles. If he takes excessive damage, he may die in situations Godzilla can better handle, forcing him to form an egg should he die in a battle he does not expect to walk out from.
      • Psychic link dependence: He requires a psychic link with a human, as without his connection to humanity, he may become more reckless in his destructive battles with enemy Titans and lose the mental strength he requires from a human to better fight efficiently than destructively. He will continue to fight for the world and all its lifeforms, but without a psychic link to help him focus, he may become more aggressive like his genetic template, Godzilla.
        • Psychic link vulnerability: Due to the psychic link he has with a human, they are susceptible to sharing the same pain and injuries he sustains in battle, leaving them vulnerable to risks of intense injury, if not death unless he recovers.
      • Large energy intake: Due to his excessive need of flight, physical combat, and solar flame use, added on top of his motor functions for a large Titan, he requires tons of energy to recharge and sustain himself, forcing him to rest and absorb energy in between fights. He prefers rest after each fight and may hibernate for decades, centuries even, to make up for the massive loss of energy in most battles. His body adapts to better utilize his energy and preserve it for future battles likely to occur more frequently, though he may still prefer rest if necessary and will be vulnerable if worn out.

Origins

In the Monsterverse's ancient past, humans have not only come in contact with Hollow Earth and its Titans but have grown to master their understanding of Hollow Earth's energy and learned to harness this energy for their own benefits. They have become quite skilled in this profession and would not only develop sophisticated, crystal-based technology but develop a civilization around their newfound technology, inspiring the very myth of Atlantis itself. They would use this technology to bio-engineer their own Titans, preferring to rely on their own creations rather than the monsters they have grown detached from worshipping as Gods, as well as control said creations with miniature crystalline conduits known as magatama. With this power, they began to develop an empire where they rule with the very gifts the Earth has granted them, believing it is divine destiny to rule above all else, though many Titans, Godzilla included, tried to stop this. However, despite Godzilla's power and the collective strength of the Titans that sought to end this abrupt imbalance in nature, the ancient civilization endured by creating bioweapons capable of countering the Titans using genetically-engineered abilities targeting their weaknesses, including their most perfected creation: Gyaos.

The Gyaos were their most abominable, yet effective weapon, as they evolved and reproduced so quickly, they grew faster than the Titans could eliminate them and were eventually outnumbered. One by one, each Titan fell until only Godzilla remained, so was the last to die out when the Gyaos overpowered him the second they disabled his ability to fire his atomic breath. And thus, almost every Titan who opposed their new rule, Protectors mostly, would be out by the ancient civilization to ensure no one steps in their way. Even the Titans they suspected would threaten their rule, were wiped out, destroying many super ecosystems in the process. Once all competition was removed, the ancient civilization replaced them with newer creations to restore the ecosystems of their world but in their "own preferable fashion," using their very creations to terraform Hollow Earth and the surface world to their liking. They genetically engineered numerous monsters based off of the templates of the best Titans the Earth could "provide" to them, allowing them to create powerful hybrids and new Titans based off of the various genes they experimented and applied after generations of experimentation and finalization. They ruled for thousands of years in ancient times, forming an empire that could've lasted over the rule of the Titans for ages to come. Until one such creation, their best one of them all, had other plans. The Gyaos began to reproduce out of control and turned on their creators, feeding on them and destroying their civilization. And for every other monster they tried to throw their way, they either failed and got eaten by the Gyaos or fled to fend for themselves, their survival instincts overpowering the priests and priestesses assigned to controlling these monsters with magatama. With their civilization coming close to an end and no Protector Titans were there to save them, the ancient civilization sought to use the genes of the Protector Titans to create a Titan who will save them. With the help of ancient scientists that opposed the rule of the ancient civilization and ancient Iwi who were enslaved (but released for aid) for following the natural order the Earth has bestowed upon them, they genetically engineered a benevolent creature with genes of the brightest Protector Titans and humans with the sole duty of destroying the Gyaos and defending Earth from other threats: Gamera.

With the genes of Godzilla, Mothra, Methuselah, and humans, Gamera was created and instantly became aware of his existence the moment his body sprung to life and his consciousness beginning to awaken for the first time. He would be connected to the Iwi via magatama and in an instant, he understood what he was created to do and engaged in a brutal conflict with the Gyaos, wiping out as many as he could find to save what's left of the surface world and Hollow Earth. However, in the end of this conflict, it came at the cost of the ancient civilization's complete destruction, though Gamera understood that this was necessary to restore balance in nature. His creators sought to correct their mistakes for what they've done to the world, so Gamera will continue their work in redeeming themselves by saving the remaining humans by escorting them to the surface world, from the Iwi to the surviving ancients who would diverge into surface civilizations such as Egypt and Greece, then sealed off all rifts to Hollow Earth to separate both worlds forever for the Titans and humans' own good. But not before the ancient people and Iwi constructed prophetic obelisks and temples full of magatama all over the world, knowing that if the Gyaos and other abominable creations of the ancient civilization have ever returned, Gamera would arise to stop them.

However, Gamera didn't just combat the Gyaos, indirectly destroy the ancient empire, and sealed off both worlds to restore balance in nature. He has also done the following in hopes of protecting both worlds, trying his best to do what he felt his natural predecessors would've done in his place:

  • He fought numerous other monsters belonging to the ancient civilization, having been forced to either slay them or seal them away in Hollow Earth to ensure they do not threaten the surface world nor Hollow Earth's ecosystems (though he spared them if they only threatened the surface world or because he couldn't kill them).
  • He engaged the Golden Devil, an alien Alpha Titan, to save the world from its rampage but during this time, a certain Titan that formed the last Ice Age, indirectly aided in freezing the polar ice caps. This allowed Gamera to seal the beast within the glaciers of Antarctica, before he then turned to confront the Beast of the Ice Age to stop them from doing too much and wiping out all life on the surface world.
  • He saved the Great Apes from the ancient civilization's beasts and other natural Titans that counted as Destroyers, as he had no intentions of ruling the ecosystems and thus no beef with the Titan cousins of his creators. He even escorted them to Skull Island on the surface world before he sealed off Hollow Earth for good, though he also fought a faction of Great Apes that served the Skar King, one of the few Titans who evaded the ancient civilization during the peak of their power and the one Titan he actively ensured would stay in Hollow Earth, alongside a prized Titan he stole from the ancient civilization, for good.
  • He would fight Dagon, the last surviving member of Godzilla's species, as Dagon survived the ancient civilization's Great War with the Titans by escaping to a secluded part of the surface world they didn't conquer and now seeks revenge on humanity for destroying his kind. He believed wiping out the human race would restore balance in nature, while Gamera believed that simply allowing the humans to move on from their past and abandoning the evil that created monsters like the Gyaos, was what restores balance in nature. They clashed for years in ancient times, leading ancient murals to depict their ancient battle across the Pacific, though the Pacific civilizations of old have depicted that Gamera nearly died many times for holding back, not wanting to bring his one of his templates' species to extinction. However, Gamera has had enough when Dagon erupted from Mt. Vesuvius and wiped out the city of Pompeii, killing over 20,000 souls, including his priest at the time. Enraged, Gamera confronted Dagon one last time at the Philippines and slew him in combat, where ancient murals depict him ending the beast with a quick and painless bite that snapped his neck, rather than a violent and explosive end he gives to other Titans. Phoenician tablets describe him last seen roaring in anguish, as if mourning for ones' loss, before leaving to the skies. They called him, "The Lonely God."

Gamera would disappear over the ages as Mankind had become to progress from the Bronze Age to the Modern Age around the time other Titans gradually went into dormancy beneath the surface world as radiation levels dwindled, leaving him to inspire numerous myths and pantheons around the world of the World Turtle and its impact on human cultures, mainly peace and balance. However, he would eventually return when

History:

In the 1940s, after the atomic bombing occurred on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, it awakened an ancient enemy of the extinct Godzilla species, Shinomura, which began to wreak havoc in the Pacific. Eiji Serizawa witnessed these attacks while serving the Japanese Navy after the Second World War. He was there when numerous forces were powerless to stop it in its rampage for food sources across the Pacific Ocean, until one day at the Philippines, a giant Leatherback-like turtle emerged and protected the human bystanders from the blue winged demon, driving it off once he severely weakened it with a vlast of flames hotter and brighter than the Atom bomb. Even more bizarre is when he tucked in his legs and launched into the skies like a rocket, flying after the beast in hot pursuit. While recruited into a Japanese-American military unit known as Monarch, specifically by Lieutenant Lee Shaw of the US Army, Eiji Serizawa sought to prove the existence of Gamera, who is codenamed after various Pacific island myths surrounding the giant turtle. He even speculates that based off of several ancient murals and tablets involving records of Gamera's existence in the past, he may be a guardian of sorts, defending the world from hostile monsters, including the Shinomura. His team barely believes him about Gamera's existence due to the beast being seen more frequently in the skies, though they are still given orders to find ways of killing both monsters, classified as M.U.T.O.s (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms), to avoid world-wide panic. Nevertheless, Serizawa hoped for Gamera to be found and allowed to battle Shinomura.

In the 1950s, after years of searching for Gamera and Shinomura, they finally confirm his existence and location in waters close to the Marshall Islands, where he has just slain the Shinomura, or so they thought, until a piece of Shinomura collected and studied by Monarch had regrown into a duplicate and recombined with the body of the Shinomura, Gamera slew to continue its reign of terror, having fed on radiation incidentally left around to revive itself. As Serizawa was the one who led the research on Gamera and Shinomura, other scientists joined the military unit to contribute to research on M.U.T.O.s and how they kept vanishing. One particular scientist, Dr. Keiko Miura, uncovered a site at the Philippines containing an ancient Greek-based obelisk with magatama attached to it. She managed to translate the inscription as, "We commit to the cradle of time, the Last Hope. May he awaken with the Shadow of Evil."

Around this time, she kept one of the magatama to herself as a personal souvenir, something which Shaw reluctantly accepted, unknowingly exposing herself to its hidden power. When she touched the crystal, it began to glow and emanate energy, actually forming a telepathic bond between her and the very monster Monarch is hunting alongside the Shinomura. She even concluded that from what she's feeling upon wearing the magatama, that Gamera is the "Last Hope" the inscription described and that Gamera must live to save the world from Shinomura. However, despite her and her friends' attempts to stop the US military from trying to kill Gamera, they still conduct the Castle Bravo "test," using Serizawa's theory to lure the Shinomura with its food source consisting of plutonium, to then in turn lure its supposed predator, Gamera, to the trap zone. At Bikini Atoll, they witness the Shinomura arrive to consume the bomb before it got intercepted by Gamera, the military witnesses present watching in shock and awe as both Titans clashed at the site, not knowing they were about to be blown to kingdom come. During the fight, as Shinomura fought back against Gamera, Miura began developing inexplicable bruises and cuts, all while feeling drawn to Gamera, leading Shaw to suspect that the magatama she's wearing is somehow connecting her to Gamera (explaining how she knew so much about him). He tried to take it off but she refused, claiming Gamera needs her. Just as the bomb was about to be detonated, she tearfully screamed in Japanese, trying to warn Gamera to get away before the bomb detonates. However, the second she said this, Gamera reacted unusually by grabbing ahold of the Shinomura and pinning it over the bomb, letting it take the whole blast as the bomb detonates, seemingly killing them both in the explosion.

And though the military suspected that Gamera was killed and thus completed their mission but continued funding Monarch's operations to both eliminate new M.U.T.O.s and ensure their existence remains a secret from the world. Miura, however, was put in a coma after the explosion occurred, which led Bill Randa, a colleague of her and Shaw's, to theorize that according to the ancient records, Miura's magatama put her in some form of psychic link with Gamera, to strengthen him in battle. She's been selected as his priestess, so if he has indeed been killed by the explosion, it is likely Miura will die as well. Shaw hated this but after weeks of being put on life support, Miura's wounds miraculously heal and she wakes up soon after, revealing that Gamera is alive. For years, Monarch would be instated in Bill and Miura's charge when Shaw reveals Gamera to still be alive to General Puckett, the man responsible for authorizing all activities related to hunting down M.U.T.O.s, while Monarch also continued to try finding Gamera but to no avail. At the same time, Shaw, Bill, Miura, and Serizawa, who soon learned about Miura's psychic connection to Gamera and grew sympathetic to her beliefs in Gamera's affiliations as a watchful protector, all agreed to keep Miura's psychic connection a secret and merely claim her previous injuries were self-inflicted. And for anything she learns about Gamera by reading his thoughts and memories, they disguise it as expeditions uncovering archeological finds on Gamera's past.

Years pass and while Eiji Serizawa still passed away, allowing his son Ishiro to take his place in Monarch, the organization itself goes through a troubled and uneasy change throughout the late 20th century in pursuit of studying, containing, and monitoring M.U.T.O.s, eventually changing their designation to "Titans."

In 2014, everything would change when a disaster strikes at the desolate city of Janjira in Japan and ancient unholy beasts, the Gyaos, are unleashed before the world. They bring terror and death in their wake, forcing the likes of an ancient guardian to emerge once more and send the monstrous vampires back to the depths of Hell. All while at the same time, Monarch scientists that tried to establish contact with the ancient Turtle Titan using the likes of both an experimental bioacoustics-manipulation device and more magatama recovered from around the world, experience an unexpected turn of events when Monarch Paleobiologist, Emma Russell, witnesses her daughter, Madison, take one of the magatama out of curiosity and it glows in response, something that never happened to anyone that handled these magatama since Keiko Randa. And thus, a new priestess is chosen, strengthening the Guardian Titan in preparation for his next battle.

Enter Gamera 2014.
