Chapter Text
Fate.
The belief that one's life and experiences are predetermined by a power beyond human control.
In Teyvat, the fate of a person is fixed from their birth.
This is a rule as absolute as the shades and the Heavenly Principles themselves.
...Or so I thought.
Perhaps, I have our dear M to thank for that. Her and that little golden haired traveller that fell out of the sky.
You look quite confused. Ah, you must be wondering what the point of this conversation is!
Then let me make this more interesting. After all, Solemnity has never been one of my strengths.
Envision the life of a character in a storybook. Their story always begins at a specific point in time. For some characters it may start with their birth (As with a certain adorable little dragon). For others, it could begin at a point later in their life.
However, what remains constant is that everything from the people they meet and the adventures they undertake, to the very experiences that define them as a person, are written in stone from the moment the author takes up their quill.
When such is the case, changing a characters story sounds difficult, doesn't it? Hence, the concept of fate.
But herein lies the contradiction. If we consider the beginning of the story to be from when the authors quill touches paper...then what would happen if that very beginning was changed?
With a completely different starting point, would the story remain the same? Or would it become another story entirely?
Would the flap of a tiny butterflies wings in the present, cause a storm in the distant future?
Well, would you like to find out? I happen to have an empty book and a magic quill right here.
Of course, it's one of my own creations! Though I must admit, M gave me the inspiration for it.
Oh, don't look so wary! You can simply treat it as a game. Have some fun! In the end, the choice is all yours.
Hm? What do I want in return?
Haha, Just promise to let me read it once you're done!
