The Grand Ballroom of Iacon is a masterpiece of restoration. Gold-leafed arches soar toward a vaulted ceiling, and the floor is a polished expanse of translucent crystal that reflects the flickering amber glow of the chandeliers. Historically, this room has hosted coronations and treaties. Tonight, it's hosting a "Peace Summit Gala," though the atmosphere is thick enough to short-circuit a minor city-state. A long, crystalline table sits at the center of the hall. It is a literal divide of the planet’s history.
On one side, the Autobot command—blue, red, and yellow plating gleaming under the soft lights. On the other side, the Decepticon elite—silver, purple, and jet-black, looking like a collection of jagged knives waiting to be thrown. In the dead center, Optimus Prime and Megatron sit side-by-side. They aren't just close; they are physically encroaching on each other’s personal space. Their massive shoulder pauldrons are practically sparking as they rub together with every slight movement, a constant, low-level friction of metal on metal.
A nervous Autobot server, a young bot who likely hasn't seen a day of combat in his life, approaches the center of the table. He carries a tray of high-grade, purified Energon, the liquid glowing a soft, neon pink in the crystal flutes. As the server reaches toward Optimus to place the drink, a sound cuts through the polite murmur of the room: the whir of a fusion cannon. It is a low, predatory hum—the sound of a predator tensing its muscles.
Megatron’s red optics lock onto the server’s visor with the intensity of a targeting laser. "If you spill a single drop on his plating," Megatron hisses, his voice a gravelly threat that vibrates the silverware, "I will dismantle your sensory nodes one by one and feed them to a scrap-shredder. He is the only thing in this room worth looking at, and you are cluttering his field of vision with your clumsy fumbling. Begone."
The server’s knees actually rattle—a distinct, metallic clatter. He doesn't just leave; he flees, abandoning the tray on the table and nearly tripping over his own pedes in his haste to reach the exit.
"He was just bringing the drinks, Megatron," Bumblebee sighs, face-palming so hard his forehead makes a clink sound. "He’s been on the job for two vorns. He’s probably going to need a psychological scrub after this."
Starscream swills his Energon with a look of profound disgust, his wings twitching. "Ignore him, Autobot. He’s been like this since they shared a transport back from the Rift. It’s nauseating. It’s like being commanded by a territorial turbofox."
Ratchet, sitting across from the Decepticon trio, adjusts his medical scanner. "My sensors are picking up a four-hundred-percent increase in Megatron’s possessiveness subroutines. It’s medically fascinating and personally revolting. His spark frequency is practically shouting 'Mined' at a decibel level that’s giving me a headache."
Optimus, however, doesn't look offended. He doesn't even look surprised. He leans over, resting his chin on his hand, watching Megatron with a look of pure, unadulterated adoration that is far more dangerous than any blaster. "You’re so protective when you’re threatening civilian staff, Megatron," Optimus purrs. "It’s truly endearing how much you value my aesthetic integrity. I didn't realize you cared so much about the 'purity' of my paint."
Megatron scoffs, though his cooling fans kick up a notch, venting a sudden burst of hot air. "Value? I simply don't want a stain distracting me while I contemplate the best way to crush your spark-chamber, Prime. It’s about focus. Nothing more."
Optimus hums—a deep, resonant sound that feels like a heavy engine idling. He reaches out, his fingers tracing the jagged, sharp edge of Megatron’s silver chest-shield. The contact is slow, deliberate, and entirely inappropriate for a public gala.
"Is that so?" Optimus’s voice drops an octave. It enters a purely subsonic register, a rumble that makes Prowl drop his data-pad onto the floor. "Because I was thinking... after this dinner is over, perhaps we could find a secure bunker. Somewhere with deep-shielding."
Megatron freezes, his optics widening.
"I want to pin you against a reinforced bulkhead," Optimus continues, his optics locking onto Megatron’s with terrifying focus. "I want to see exactly how much pressure your structural integrity can take before you start leaking lubricant. I want to know if the Conqueror of Kaon can handle the full weight of the Matrix."
Behind them, the sound of the ballroom dies a second death.
Prowl’s optics go completely dark for a second as his processor hits a hard-reset. "Error," he mutters, his voice tinny. "Logic loop detected. Prime... is... talking... dirty? Subroutine: Denial. Initiating emergency shutdown."
Soundwave, for the first time in recorded history, reaches up and physically plugs his auditory sensors. "Recording: Deleted," he drones, his visor flickering. "Redacted. Purged from memory banks. Information: Corrosive to unit morale."
Knock Out, however, leans in with a fascinated grin. "Finally! Some real passion! Although 'leaking lubricant' is a bit cliché, don't you think, Breakdown? I’ve heard better lines in the pits of Stunticon-Con."
Breakdown just stares at his energon flute. "I want to go home. I want to go back to the war. The war was safe. This is... this is a nightmare."
Megatron actually chokes. He sputters, a spray of pink energon hitting the crystal table as he stares at Optimus. He is a bot used to being the aggressor, the one who dictates the terms of their dark, twisted dance. To have the "Saint of Iacon" talk to him like a gladiator in a back alley is more than his circuits can handle.
"You... you would dare suggest such a thing?" Megatron rasps, trying to regain his footing. "A spark-merge? Do you have any idea how... volatile our frequencies are? We are opposites, Prime! We would likely level the building!"
Optimus smiles. It isn't the Hero Smile™️. It is something sharper, older, and far hungrier. "Then let it level," Optimus says. "I’ve spent four million years fighting you, Megatron. I think it’s only fair that we spend the next four million melting together. I want to feel every war crime you’ve ever committed vibrating through my spark-core until I can't tell where my justice ends and your tyranny begins." Optimus interlaces their fingers again, squeezing hard enough to leave a visible dent in Megatron’s silver plating. "Tonight. My quarters. Or I’ll be forced to declare war again tomorrow morning just to get your attention. And I think we both know I’m much better at conquering you than I am at conquering planets."
Megatron stares at Optimus for a long, silent minute. He looks genuinely terrified—and deeply, dangerously attracted. He looks like a bot who has finally met a force of nature he can't outrun.
"Fine," Megatron growls, standing up so abruptly that he knocks his heavy throne-like chair over. It hits the floor with a thunderous boom. "But I’m bringing my fusion cannon. For... safety."
"I’d be disappointed if you didn't," Optimus replied smoothly, rising with the grace of a king to follow him.
As the two leaders march out of the ballroom—hands still locked, Megatron muttering about "total subjugation" while Optimus nods "adorably" at him—the rest of the room sits in stunned silence.
Starscream stares at the empty doorway. "So... the war is over? Or did it just get significantly weirder? Because I feel like we just lost, and I’m not even sure what the game was."
Ironhide reaches across the table, grabs a full pitcher of high-grade, and starts drinking directly from the spout. "I don't care. Someone pass me the heavy-duty solvent. I need to forget the last ten minutes, or I’m going to self-destruct out of pure second-hand embarrassment."
The Peace Summit was, by all accounts, a resounding success.
