Heavy is the Crown

Summary:

Ever since the warmth dimmed when he was a kid, things have been hard for Tsuna. The colors faded and their brain struggled to keep up with his peers. Bullies started targeting them, his grades plummeted, everything was wrong.
It wasn't until his mother heard of a great boarding school, suggested by another mom. The school was said to help kids who struggled grow into their strengths. Tsuna was sent there on their fathers dime.
Somehow, on the way, he found themselves in an entirely different world. One where humans did not exist, and by the laws of that world neither was Tsunayoshi.

Or; Tsuna gets sent to a boarding school for their last two years of junior high, but end up in the world of COTL with new lamb features. After the events of the game, after some time, he returns to Namimori as a god and a cult leader. Just in time for Reborn to show up.
Chaos ensues.

Chapter 1

Notes:

I just realized this is my 27th ao3 work! How fitting its Tsuna centric lol

Chapter Text

Tsuna woke up with a yawn, stretching as they got out of bed. He was about to start their second week of high school back in Japan after being in the Land of the Old Faith for 2 years. In those two years, Tsuna had grown a flourishing Cult, first in the name of The One Who Waits, now in his own name. They had gained power, knowledge, a following, and more. They became a god. A literal god. The last god. And as they say, “heavy is the head that wears the crown.” It was exhilarating.

Tsuyoshi almost didn’t come back. He thought about never returning to Japan, but he didn’t have the heart to do so. That would mean leaving his mother behind and he couldn’t do that. They saw the sadness in her eyes every time he crossed paths with Forneus. It made his heart ache. He wanted to go home. Even if only for a bit. Their cult could use a little independence anyways.. And so they decided to visit. They told them he was going to new lands to expand their cult, and his little followers exploded with excitement over the prospect.

Actually being back in Japan was almost jarring. It may have only been two years, but it felt like many more. Especially with how different time worked, and felt, in the Lands of the Old Faith. While they may be only 14 years old in Japan, he was considered 272 there. It was weird, but whatever. He always wanted to be an eldritch being.

Tsunayoshi shook their head as they went to get the mail.

-

Reborn hadn’t more than glanced at his new student’s file. Iemitsu was never someone to gather information all that well, added to the fact that he never visits his wife and son, the hitman would not be surprised if everything in the report was false.

Tsunayoshi Sawada

Age: 14

Gender: Male

Hair Color: White

Eye Color: Reddish Brown

Flame: Latent Sky

Notes: My precious Tuna fishy has no friends! He is rather clumsy and has low marks in school. But he has potential for great Sky Flames, and as the last remaining heir he needs to be trained to handle the position of Vongola Decimo.

Reborn was going to kill the idiot. Almost half of what Bakamitsu was the complete opposite! According to the full report, Tsunayoshi had just gotten back from a 2 year long attendance to a junior high boarding school out of the county just in time to start Nanamori High.

Reborn was even kind enough to give his new student a week to acclimate back into Japan before showing up.

The hitman hopped off the train, making his way to the Sawada’s home. It was a fairly short walk, giving him enough time to scope out the neighborhood. Upon arriving at his destination, he slipped his flyer into their mail box. Reborn jumped into the nearest tree as he felt a potential Rain approach, glancing behind him as a teenager jogged by. Just as the teen turned the corner, Tsunayoshi Sawada emerged from his home.

The boy matched Iemitsu’s description. Fluffy white hair that curled, brown-red eyes that shifted between the two colors depending on the light. He was shorter than the average height for his age. Not so good for intimidation or presence, but if he could learn how to use it to his advantage in a fight, then it would more than make up for the fact.

The front door quietly opened as Reborn’s new target student walked through.

“Ah, what a beautiful day! I wonder how everyone’s been doing. I've never been gone this long before. I’m sure they're fine. I should send a letter soon though..” Tsunayoshi rambled to themself as he walked from the door to the mailbox. They lifted the flap and looked inside. There was the usual newspaper and a flyer? How strange.

‘Are you looking for a tutor?’  The title read.

Tsuna scoffed and tore it in half with a glare on their face, letting go of the torn pieces and watching as it disintegrated in orange flames as they fell. “Hah! Like I need a tutor. Whoever sent this can be fed to Helob for all I care. Damn scammers thinking they can feed off others money. How disgraceful.” Eyes more red than brown stared with great distaste at the ashes flying away in the wind.

‘The nerve of this brat! Calling me disgraceful. And he can already manifest physical Sky Flames? As a civilian teenager who should have no reason for active flames? This might be more fun than I thought.’ Reborn thought to himself as he witnessed Tsunayoshi’s reaction to the flyer. The teenager then walked back into the house. Reborn quickly made his way into the living room to greet his new student as they walked through the door.

“Ciao-su!” The tiny hitman greeted.
“Huh? A baby? Wait no- an adult? How curious.” Tsuna stared back with slight confusion as he mumbled. “Um, hello? What exactly are you doing in my house sir?” His eyes narrowed in hopes of intimidation.
“I am the home tutor, Reborn. I was sent by your father so I will be instructing you from today on.” .‘He was already able to determine I am an adult? He might have more potential than I thought.’ He pulled out a large business card showing it to Tsuna as he spoke.
“Oh my gods, are you the scammer that put that ridiculous flyer in my mainbox? I do not need a tutor so go home man. And if you really were sent by that idiot then can you please tell him not to interfere with my life when he can’t even bother to be in it? And if you could, please tell him I found a new dad who is ten times better than him. Someone who is actually there for me and cares for my well being? Thanks.” Tsunayoshi replied dryly. The topic of Iemitsu was always a sore one. Maybe his message was a little cruel, but he was a petty little lamb. At least that's what Aym and Baal always (endearingly) called him. “I better hurry up or I will be late for school. You better be gone by the time I get home or you will  regret it.”
‘This kid has got some balls on him. Thinking he can threaten me of all people. It would work on some lower mafioso, but I am the furthest from that. I do suppose it is good that the kid has some backbone, it would be a pain to train a doormat that lets people walk all over them.’ Reborn thought before he responded to the teen.

“Sounds like a plan, Stan. Show me what you got after school, I will be waiting.”
