Work Text:
Fukase was slouched over the couch in the meme squad HQ bored out of their mind! Everyone else was busy and they had no one to bother! Piko was busy working on some code for something he told Fukase didn’t concern them, Flower was working on her guitar her band had a show coming up so she had to practice more then usual, Oliver conducting some experiment with birds Fukase didn’t understand and Len? Well he was just being Len which in Fukase’s mind is an annoying little cunt who should throw himself off a cliff. Fukase groaned then groaned louder hoping someone would hear even though everyone was there rooms. Fukase dramatically draped a hand over their face“UGH! I’m so bored! If only someone! Anyone! Would hear the poor calls of a distressed person and save me from my woes!” But no one answered, no one heard the distress calls of a poor unfortunate meme lord. Fukase groaned and rolled off the couch onto the floor. They started staring at the ceiling in pure boredom not really knowing what else to fucking do. Then the lights went out and everyone started coming out their rooms, turns out the power went out. Piko sighed “Great just as I was about to get the code right.”
“my show is going to be so screwed.”
“All the birds got scared after the lights went out and flew away!”
“My very important Miku fanfic reading time was ruined what the fuck!”
the rest of the squad all gave Len a questionable look. “What, don’t act like you guys don’t do it too ok.”
Fukase grimaced “why tf would I want to read a fanfic about my mortal enemy? I’d rather read one about myself, wait holy shit that’s an amazing idea I should’ve done that then I wouldn’t have been bored to death!”
Piko sighed “I’m not even gonna question why you’re on the floor.” Then he walked towards the heating cabinet and grabbed some tourches, passing them out to the other four.
The Oliver looked at him puzzled “wait Piko, if the power is out how are you able to still function? You know with being half robot and all.”
“Oh? That’s a good question Ollie. You see I run on already provided power like your phones do, I regain power by charging. Anyway someone needs to go outside to check the power box.”
“But it’s dark! (Elite ball knowledge ref.)”
“Yes, and that’s what makes this decision difficult.”
Len put his hand up “I volunteer Flower she is the strongest out of all of us anyway!”
Fukase protested “oh hell no! You should go Len it’d be a more minimal loss if we lost you!”
“What the hell Fukase!? Are you saying you want me to die!”
“I never said that directly, although I wouldn’t mind if it was a possibility!”
The two cousins began aggressively glaring at each other in silent hatred.
Then Flower walked out without a second thought. When she was outside she took a look at the power box, literally nothing was wrong. She gave it a little kick and by little kick I mean a major fucking kick because Flower forgets her own strength sometimes. After the major beating the power box was left with a major dent in it and more broken than before. “…” She walked back inside “we need a new power box.”
Piko looked up from the very intense snap game the others were having. “Really!? It was that bad?”
“yea.”
Fukase groaned loudly “Ugh! Does this mean we won’t have any power for god knows how long!?”
Piko nodded “yeah seems that way, it’s probably gonna be hella expensive too.”
Oliver raised his hand “oh what if sell James’ feet pics on the dark web to get money!” Oliver’s golden flinch which he named James slowly started backing away when Fukase interjected
“omg and we can sell point’s feet pics too!”
the young British lad grinned “yes! That’s an amazing idea! This will probably make us so rich we could buy ten billion power boxes!”
Fukase gave Ollie a high five “that’s what I’m talking about! See Piko you got two pro entrepreneurs here already!”
“We could hack into my dad’s bank account.”
The others paused and stared at Flower after her statement.
“It’s still active because he’s still alive and they sent him to a mental hospital instead of jail, he probably has enough to cover the power box.”
Fukase grinned “Flower you’re a fucking genius! That’s way better than selling point’s feet pics! Also an amazing way of getting that bastard back like imagine he gets out the mental hospital just to see his bank account as been completely emptied! While we’re at it we should leave him in debt as well!”
Piko cleared his throat “I do think we’re forgetting that this counts as theft and is very illegal.”
“He’s a convicted criminal.”
“oh, ugh fine I’ll try hack into his bank account, I’ll just have to hot spot my computer to my phone.”
The others were peering over his shoulder as he was typing away. “Ok done, the new power box should be expecting to come soon.”
“woah that was fast! Anway since there’s still money left over I think we got some spending to do.” Fukase grinned looking at the money and thinking of all the ways they could spend it.
“How about we split it in five and give it to Flower, her siblings and mom. They were the ones who were hurt by him after all.”
“Godammit! Oliver now is not the time to think selflessly!”
“I actually think Oliver has a good point. Flower what do you say? It’s your choice after all.”
“sounds good to me, not like he was gonna ever give me anything he owned willingly.”
“well then it’s settled.” Piko pressed a button and just like that all the money vanished like it was never there.
“Oh sick 450k.”
“damn! That’s like a whole ass university fund! What do you think you’re gonna do with the money? Maybe you could help a dude out and buy a couple bananas.”
Fukase huffed feeling slightly bitter that they couldn’t just spend the money to their heart’s content “prolly on stupid capri suns.”
“I’ve actually been needing a new amp and speakers for the upcoming concert, my bandmates had been concerned that the people at the back wouldn’t be able to hear anything so I’ll prolly pay for that first.”
Piko looked up from his computer “oh yeah your concert, it’s a couple weeks right? Miki had been very set on buying us tickets, can’t say I blame her I’m pretty excited about it.”
“It’s in two weeks.”
Oliver sighed slightly “yeah Hio’s been pretty stressed about it too, but good thing is I get free tickets because I’m the sibling of one of the band members.”
“Oh yeah Rin was really excited about the free tickets because our older sister Lily is in the band too. She’s also been really busy with practice like we’ve barely seen her!”
“So like me and Piko are the only ones who don’t get free tickets? I mean I’ll prolly be going anyway considering my mom gave y’all lessons and Ars is friends with Hio so that’s another factor.”
“Uh cool? Anyway I should be going now.”
Piko raised an eyebrow “You’re leaving? At this time at night?”
“Band stuff.”
“Ah I see it’s really taking up your entire schedule isn’t it?”
“yeah, also someone needs to feed my pet cat because I’ll prolly be home late.” She said as she grabbed her equipment and headed out the front door.
“and there she goes, anyway Len you’re on dinner today.”
Oliver flinched like the Victorian child he is “Just please don’t make us eat banana soup again.”
“HEY! Banana soup is better then whatever the hell you made last time!”
“it was bangers and mash!?”
“well it definitely wasn’t a banger, I’ll tell you what it was it was British!”
“I hope you get shanked you bloody cunt.”
“Oliver! You shouldn’t be talking like that!”
“oh shut up Piko you blimey wanker!”
Len was amused by this whole situation “damn so the kid swears now! Didn’t know he could do that!”
“Len do not encourage him! His parents are not going to be happy about all this.”
“oh come on he’s gonna swear eventually everyone does.”
“no? I’ve known people who’ve never sworn.”
“oh like who?”
“There’s this kid I tutor her name is Rana she definitely has never sworn, also Kazehiki.”
“Well he’s religious so it doesn’t count.”
“just because someone isn’t religious doesn’t mean they have to be swearing like a sailor Len!”
With the two blundering jackles busy fighting Fukase decided to head off to their room and flopped straight onto their bed. They sighed frustratedly and glared up at the ceiling like it was the reason for their misery, like it was the reason they missed Flower. This stupid concert was taking up every part of her schedule. Like yeah they obviously happy for her it was a big achievement and required amazing skills which Flower most definitely had but they barely saw her and when they did she had no time to hang out. Fukase felt somewhat selfish and guilty for getting angry at her it was her band’s first ever performance so it was definitely a big deal but it was starting to feel like she was practicing more then she was breathing! A part of Fukase wanted to skip out on the show all together just out of spite and jealousy bit even they knew it was an asshole move and they did want to see Flower and her band because they’re all really talented. Fukase groaned loudly they hated feeling jealous usually they never felt jealousy because their ego was too big to think anything about another person is better them but in rare occasion they did they always felt pathetic about it like some insecure bitch which Fukase wasn’t, as a matter of fact they were the exact opposite of insecure they were the most confident and self assured person you’d ever meet.
They continued their round of staring at the ceiling and sighing for a couple hours until they heard the front door open and close indicating Flower was home. They wanted to go to her and tell her about how much they missed her but it was really late and she was probably really tired then they remembered that Flower probably was going to neglect her sleep for the billionth time to either practice or chug capri suns while reading Sally Face fanfiction. Realising this Fukase stood up and headed off to Flower’s room. They knocked a couple times but there was no answer so they just invited themself in. The taller girl was sitting on her bed staring at the nothing with headphones on and her pet cat Misty cuddled up in a ball in the corner of her bed when Fukase entered. She’s always had this strange habit of staring at nothing like she didn’t even acknowledge her own existence. Fukase sat at the edge of her bed “hey.” No response, so Fukase waved a hand in front of her face. “Yo earth to Flower.”
“Hey?”
“Hey, so uh what song are you listening to?”
“bad apple.”
“oh cool, that’s the uh Touhou thing right?”
“Yes it’s Touhou project.”
“Are you gonna play that at the concert?”
“that’s the plan.”
“that’s cool.”
“ok.”
“so uh speaking of the concert I kinda want to talk to you about something revolving around the concert.”
“yeah?”
“Well I haven’t really seen you in a while-”
“you saw me like a couple hours ago.”
“no but like general! I barely see you anymore because you’re busy practicing for the stupid concert and honestly I kinda miss you. Also practicing all the time can’t be good for you I do think you should take a break.”
“I do admit that I probably have been practicing more than I need to, but you take Drama correct?”
“yeah? I don’t see how that’s relevant though.”
“when you do your show you will probably do a lot of practice beforehand correct? Because Drama is a commitment of yours”
“yeah, I kinda get where you’re coming from but it doesn’t stop me from missing you.”
“My performance is in two weeks after that I won’t be too busy with practice.”
Fukase was starting to get a bit frustrated here seeing as Flower was not understanding what they were saying. “But I miss you NOW! I want to hang out with you NOW! I don’t want to wait two more weeks just to hang out with you again! Why can’t you understand that?”
“well I’m free now if you want to do something.”
“wait you are?”
“yeah.”
“hm, know any cool abandoned places to go to?”
“yeah actually Hio was talking to me about an abandoned graveyard.”
Fukase’s spirits were immediately lifted by the words “abandoned graveyard.”
“an abandoned graveyard!? Sounds creepy as hell, I’m so in.”
“Cool.” Flower stood up and put a black hoodie over the band shirt she was wearing and she looked hella tough in the black hoodie with the baggy ripped jeans. “You gonna put a coat on or something? It might be cold.”
“nah, hot bitches never get cold.”
“Isn’t the saying ‘a hoe never gets cold?’”
“yeah but I’m not a hoe I’m ace but I am hot as fuck though, just changing it so it fits better.”
Flower shrugged “fair enough, ready to go?”
“Hell yeah I am! Let’s fucking go!”
As soon as they got outside Fukase immediately felt the freezing cold air hit them but they were way to prideful to admit they were cold and they were too lazy to go and get a jacket.
“You ok dude?”
“Yep! I’m fine totally completely fine now let’s get going we got an abandoned graveyard to get to.”
Flower raised an eyebrow but didn’t question it as they continued walking. When they eventually got to the graveyard Fukase was freezing! They felt like someone could just snap their bones and break every bone in their body. Obviously they weren’t going to tell Flower about this their pride was too big to give up the act now. While they were walking around the graveyard Flower pulled a capri sun out her pocket. “Ok do you like bring those everywhere?”
“yes.”
“don’t you get like sick of it? I mean you have capri suns everyday surely it gets overdone right?”
“no, does Len get sick of bananas?”
“no. Unfortunately he doesn’t.”
“then I don’t get sick of capri suns.”
They continued walking in the graveyard and as time went on it became harder for Fukase to hide the fact that they were cold and seems Flower finally caught on as she unzipped her hoodie and draped it over Fukase’s shoulders. Fukase was shocked “w…why are you giving me your hoodie!? I’m not cold!”
“Dude you’re more white then my older brother after I call him a guy kisser.”
“ok fine I’m cold, also you’re brother is still hiding it? The closet isn’t even there at this point, he’s hiding behind the dudes he claims he doesn’t like.”
“then again there isn’t any solid proof that he likes guys but like there’s no way he’s straight.”
“for real though, wait isn’t he like really into VY1 though?”
“Mizki? Yeah he is but she likes girls so he doesn’t have a chance.”
“oh that makes sense. Why’s this abandoned graveyard actually kind of boring though like I thought this would be more fun, wanna go back.”
“Sure.”
And so the pair headed home, the entire time Fukase kept a tight grip over Flower’s hoodie that was draped over the shoulders because god it was cold well at least to them, Flower wasn’t phased at all by the cold. “Are you not cold!?”
“Not really.”
“it’s feels like it should be snowing, how are you not cold?”
“I’m just better than you I guess.”
Fukase stopped dead in their tracks at Flower’s sudden comment their face twisting into a bitter seriousness “no.”
Flower blinked a bit confused by the sudden seriousness “dude what?”
Fukase spoke their voice shakey and tense “you’re not better than me. You’ll never be better than me, no one will ever be better than me.” Before Flower even got to question what the fuck that meant Fukase stormed off leaving her confused as hell as she made her way back to the HQ where she saw Piko sitting on the couch “hey, did you and Fukase go somewhere? They got home not too long ago.”
“we went to an abandoned graveyard.”
“did you guys get in a fight or something? They seemed mad.”
“no.”
“oh then what happened?”
“I said I was better than them for not getting cold and they got really mad and said no one will ever be better than them.”
“ah you damaged their ego. For someone with that big of an ego it’s surprisingly easy to break.”
“yeah.”
“anyway it’s like 2 am so there’s not really any point in sleeping wanna watch something?”
“sure.”
Piko grabbed the remote and started to play a documentary about rocks “come sit, this is one of my favourites.”
“I take it back I’m going to go to my room.”
“wow I guess no one in this friend group has taste.” Piko exclamation as he was left alone with his documentary about rocks. While Flower was walking back to her room she felt something rub against her legs, it was her cat Misty. She picked up the tuxedo cat and Misty almost immediately melted into her arms purring loudly. People always say dogs have immense loyalty and cats are all the seven deadly sins in living form but Flower couldn’t disagree more. Misty was more loyal than any dog could ever fathom being, a loyalty people could learn from. New people don’t talk to Flower that much but when they do they soon make excuses to go after realising how dry she is when talking. She has some friends and people she’s somewhat close with and she honestly has no idea why they stay she doesn’t really care much anyway, social interaction has never been her top priority. Misty on the other hand, well she basically has separation anxiety. One time Flower and her family went on holiday to Spain for two weeks but they ended up staying three days because Misty kept stress puking on their neighbour. Flower meant the world to this small clingy feline who attached herself to her like a parasite.
Misty jumped out of Flower’s arms, headed to the kitchen and meowed loudly. “I fed you before I left fatass.”
