They say the best way to keep a secret between two parties is to act naturally.
Which is why Younghyun and Wonpil kept on failing to keep their secret.
You see, it all started with the casual slip ups.
Sungjin was very sure that Wonpil was the clingy one, not Younghyun. Which is why he secretly snaps a picture (as quietly as he can, with mandatory shutter sounds in Korean phones) of Younghyun tightly clinging to the younger’s waist as Wonpil cooks two packs of ramyeon.
“Pillie.” Sungjin hears Younghyun whining, with an annoying pout on his lips as he pokes Wonpil with a finger.
“Ah, Bra-hyung! You’re tickling me!” Wonpil whispered and giggles, those hiccupy laugh floating at the late night air. Sungjin rolled his eyes and decided to retreat at his room. For my inner peace, he thought.
The next slip up was the call signs. It wasn’t strange for 4 men to casually call each other baby, babe, jagiya on a daily basis. They liked messing around, especially the aegyo-filled Dowoon.
“Jagi, I’ll be going out fishing today with the hyung-deuls.” Dowoon says in their group call, referring to no one.
“Mm, okay, jagi.” Sungjin nonchalantly answers.
It really has no meaning, just simply fooling around with each other. At least, for the two of them.
Dowoon was out with his Younghyun and Wonpil hyungdeuls, who, for some reason, wanted to go out and fish. He does not know the reason behind the random invitation, but of course, he did not mind. He loved fishing after all.
They were on a boat, drifting in the middle of the ocean. Dowoon was spacing out, waiting for any tug on his fishing rod when he hears the very soft, smitten, disgustingly sweet call of Wonpil to Younghyun.
“Babe, do you think we’ll catch anything today?” He hears Wonpil muttering softly. Younghyun answers, “Of course baby. Even if we did not, surely, Dowoon will catch something.”
A pause.
“Right, Dowoon-ah?” Younghyun calls him and he snaps out of his trace, nodding and slightly flustered at what he just heard. “Yeah, I’m the king of fishing in our team.” He brags, slightly.
They did not catch anything. In Dowoon’s defense, the two were just very distracting. It’s as if the two went out to fish just to go on an adventurous date!
On a random weekday, Sungjin was lounging around the dorm, scrolling endlessly on his phone as he hummed a song. He hears the beeping of the lock at the front door and a very confused looking Dowoon bursts out of the dorm.
“Oh?” Sungjin muttered and motioned Dowoon to come inside. The youngest sits at the sofa, crossing his arms dramatically. “Hyung, something is going on.” He starts and Sungjin stares, a curious look on his face.
“So, we went fishing the other week, right?” Dowoon says, in which Sungjin nods as he stands up to get some snacks. He brings out some chips and two cans of beer.
The can hissed as Dowoon opened his can and he took a sip. “I don’t know if I was hallucinating, but I heard Wonpil-hyung and Younghyun-hyung calling each other baby and babe.”
Sungjin blinked once. Then twice. “I mean, don’t I call you jagi as well? You call us jagiya too!” He argues, trying to come up with an explanation.
Dowoon shakes his head as he popped a chip and gulped more of the beer. “Nuh uh, it was very! Very! Soft! Like, intimately soft?”
“Like… they’re lost in their own world?” Sungjin asks, remembering what he witnessed before. Dowoon snapped his fingers, “Yes! It was so weird, hyung. I feel like I was thirdwheeling–“
Silence.
“Oh god, are we thirdwheeling them?” Sungjin groans and gulped down the can of beer.
The final slip up happened on the stage. Not even at the dorm or the waiting rooms, but on stage!
The worst thing? Sungjin and Dowoon did not noticed until they finished the concert and are already sprawled out at the couch in the dorm.
“Dowoon-ah, what time will you leave tomorrow?" Sungjin asked the youngest who was very busy at his phone.
“Mm, probably after lunch. You goin’ somewhere, hyung?”
“Yeah, I wanna try out a new restaurant along the way of your house.”
“Okay, let’s leave together then.”
Sungjin closes his eyes, his body feeling the exhaustion from their recent stops. They just concluded their concert at Daegu after their international stops. Their next concert is still a month away and he started making plans on his head about Busan vacation (hopefully), writing new songs, composing, and many more. His thoughts started drifting away to dreamland when he gets startled by a very dramatic gasp.
“HYUNG!” Dowoon screams, scrambling from his laying position to crawling to Sungjin as he shoves his phone onto the older’s face.
On the phone, he sees a MyDay’s tweet of two pictures, side by side: a hand with the fingers handling the strings of a bass and a silver ring. Next to it was also a hand near the keyboard, with a matching silver ring. Sungjin squints.
The older suddenly sprang onto his feet, startling Dowoon. Sungjin rushed towards Younghyun’s room, where the bassist went to straight after coming home. He opens the door and lo and behold.
Sungjin almost fainted at the scene. There, on Younghyun’s double bed was Younghyun and Wonpil, laying down very closely. Wonpil’s head was resting at Younghyun’s shoulder, a laptop on Younghyun’s lap and earphones at each of their ear.
The two members looks up startled, and almost scrambled to get away from each other, but Sungjin puts up a hand, “Stop.”
“Living room, now.” The leader grumbled and he walks back to the living room, where a confused Dowoon is sitting.
Younghyun and Wonpil arrived at the living room. Sungjin observed and there it was! The evidence of betrayal and secrecy. Two matching rings glinting against the light. “Sit down.” Sungjin says and the two obeys, sitting together in front of Dowoon and Sungjin.
“Are you two dating?” Sungjin straight up asks, flustering Younghyun and Wonpil. Dowoon, on the other hand, chokes on his spit.
“Um.” Younghyun starts, not knowing what to answer. His eyes flickered to Wonpil, who was very flushed.
“We have evidence, we have witnessed it!” Dowoon says and shoves the picture of their rings.
“Fuck.” Younghyun curses in English, making Wonpil laugh.
“Ah, Bra-hyung, we forgot to remove our rings!” Wonpil giggled and slapped Younghyun’s arms.
Younghyun just sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, “Fine.” He grumbled. He carefully grabbed Wonpil’s hand and held it firmly.
“Yes, we are indeed dating.” He mumbled, blushing. Wonpil smiled cutely, “I told you, they’ll notice!”
“I was not that bad in hiding, baby.”
“This is such a huge betrayal. I should be offended!” Dowoon pouts and stomps cutely. Sungjin, on the other hand, was experiencing the different heights of his emotions.
“Wha- since when!? Why did you not tell us?” He questions, his satoori coming out as strong, feeling flustered at the sudden declaration.
Younghyun cleared his throat, “Since Wonpil’s discharge…?”
“YOU BRATS!”
Wonpil burst into laughter, “Ah! We’re sorry, hyung~”
“I have never felt so betrayed in my 30 years of living, hyung.” Dowoon mumbled, feeling dumbfounded at the information.
“You mean to tell me that I was living in the same dorm with a couple?!” Sungjin gasps and points an accusing finger to the couple, “What have you done in these living spaces?!”
Younghyun was about to speak but Sungjin shuts him down, “NO! I do not want to know!”
Wonpil was still laughing at this point, tears coming out of his eyes. After a few more moments of laughter, the four finally calmed down.
“We’re really sorry, hyung. We just… forgot to bring it up.” Younghyun confesses, his hands patting Wonpil’s waist. Dowoon points a finger, “No PDA in the dorm, please.”
Wonpil rolled his eyes and scoots even closer to Younghyun. He sticks out a tongue at Dowoon. Younghyun, on the other hand, tightened his hold at Wonpil’s waist.
“You forgot. Something that important.” Sungjin blinks in disbelief. He sighs and rubs a hand on his face, “You know what, forget it.”
He looks at the couple, “Are you happy?”
Younghyun and Wonpil looked at each other, then onto the two members. Their faces lit up and they smiled, “Yeah.”
“You love each other?” Dowoon asks, suddenly feeling emotional.
“Very.”
“Well, that’s what matters the most.” Sungjin grumbles and stands up. He opened his arms, “Mandatory group hug.”
“Hyung.” Wonpil’s lips wobbles, eyes shining with incoming tears. He jumps right into Sungjin’s arms, and Younghyun follows, who snatched Dowoon into the hug.
The four of them stayed in a hug, with Wonpil now sobbing at Sungjin’s shoulders.
“You’re making up for this betrayal, though.” Sungjin says before he tightened the hug, earning groans from the members.
“You’re squishing me too, hyung!” Dowoon complained.
“Serves you right for banning PDA.” Wonpil whispered.
“I stand with the no PDA in dorm policy.” Sungjin suddenly agrees to Dowoon, who pumped his fist in the air. Younghyun just groans and Wonpil whines, “Not fair!”
