It was a peaceful Saturday morning, light seeping through the curtains of your humble abode. Your eyes zeroed in on the sleeping figure besides you, watching his chest rise and fall. A smile appeared on your face and you got up, getting ready for the morning ahead. You got started with the day, doing your usual morning routine and soon heading to the kitchen. Shortly after, Diavolo stirred, sensing the missing piece that should've been besides him once he woke. A groan was to be heard from his mouth, his arms stretching wide to get the sleep out of his body. Diavolo groggily got out of bed to look for the missing puzzle piece. He walked downstairs and headed into the kitchen, smelling the wonderful aroma of pancakes. Ah, so that's where you went.
You turned around to say good morning to your beloved but instead… Oh. Oh wow. Diavolo’s hair… it was certainly something, to say the least. You couldn't help but let out a small laugh, then it became a fit of laughter. Diavolo could only watch and tilt his head in confusion. “What? What are you laughing at?” He questions, putting a singular hand at his hip. You wiped the tears away from your eyes before responding, “Nothing, it's just… Your hair looks insane.”
“My hair is fine. What are you getting at?” Diavolo speaks again, crossing his arms. You shook your head, clicking your tongue. “Diavolo. What you have here is the messiest bed head a human could possibly have.” You explained, leaning forward as if to examine his hair. “Right, you're coming with me. Breakfast will have to wait.”
Diavolo could only grumble as he got dragged to the living room. You sat on the couch and spread your legs and pointed to the ground. Diavolo scoffed and turned his head in protest, opening his mouth to speak, “You really expect me to sit on the floor like some dirty mutt? You must be—”
“Sit.” You ordered, Diavolo huffing but nodding quickly as he sat down, crossing his legs and leaning on his fist. A strange sensation ran through Diavolo’s body when he felt your hands run through his hair.
It felt nice and peaceful, glorious even. Something Diavolo hadn't felt in quite a long time. Considering the fact that he was isolated from the world due to being the leader of Passione, a little bit of domesticity wouldn't hurt. Pleasant feelings rushed through his blood, and he could feel all the tension leaving his body. You hummed and noticed how Diavolo seemed to be leaning into your subtle brushes. Your hands combed through the knots with a gentleness Diavolo hadn't quite experienced before.
“Feels good, right? It's nice to indulge in the little things that life gives us,” You whispered softly, watching as Diavolo hum in response. “Sometimes we all need to let loose and simply live.”
Diavolo was pondering your words. ‘Let loose and simply live,’ huh? Diavolo could try that. All the burdens that were previously on Diavolo’s shoulders had lifted and he felt free. Free from the world and its expectations. Soon, Diavolo was rid from his bed head, his hair back to its former glory.
“There, you look far better.” You huffed, putting the brush down. As you were about to retract your hands from Diavolo’s hair, a hand reached out and kept it there.
“Don't you dare stop. Keep doing whatever it is you were doing,” the words escaped his mouth yet it didn't feel like an order. You stilled for a second before complying, hands weaving its way through his hair. The pancakes were cold, but that wasn't on their minds. They felt at peace together, like 2 puzzle pieces fitting together.
