It was a regular day at the Mostro lounge: diners were eating, wait staff waitering, Azul wrapping up a contract with a poor unfortunate soul (with fairer conditions after his OB), and the kitchen being a complete, chaotic mess with people running around trying to finish orders as fast as possible while still being up to standards.
One of these people running around like a headless chicken was Yuu. The prefect that worked at their boyfriend’s restaurant since someone *cough* Crowley *cough* was a cheapskate. Today, their duty was on the desert counter making sure that every desert was made and sent out at the right time. On the plate in front of them lay a thick slice of two layer spongy chocolate cake with a fudge cream filling and outer icing. The final things that had to be put on were vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce drizzled over it all.
Yuu picked up the ice cream scooper and was about to open the tub of handmade ice cream next to them, only to realise that it wasn’t there. They turned to where the freezer is, only to see a fellow first year, Malachite, about to put it in the freezer. They take a deep breath and yell the first thing that came to mind above the raucous kitchen “MANNY, DON’T PUT THE COLUMBIANS IN THE FREEZER!”
Silence.
Then everyone went back to normal, tending to their plates again while Yuu stares at him. He scampered over and before putting the tub down, he says “The name’s Malachite, you know?”
They simply nod and scoop out a scoop of ice cream and put it on the plate “Yeah, sorry, man. It was just the first thing that came to mind when I needed you to not put it away.”
He nodded and went back to his duty of keeping everything tidy after the chefs with the tub in hand. Yuu quickly drizzles on the sauce to make it look fancier, even though the sauce is the not-too-cheap but not-too-expensive one from Sam’s shop, and puts the plate on the pickup area with the table number for someone to take it away.
Just as they were going to take another desert order, Azul come up to the pickup window and said with his usual diplomatic smile “My, my, my Pearl, I know you are from… a far away land, but it is called ‘Ice cream’, not ‘Columbians’.” Yuu roles their eyes playfully, knowing where this is going, “Perhaps we can have you sign a contract to help you not forget your vocabulary.” He paused for dramatic effect, “With a price, of course.”
“I’ll put you in the freezer with the Columbians if you keep trying to make a deal with me, Kraken.” they jokingly reply, “besides, you don’t need to make a deal with me for kisses. You’ll get them later. Now, shoo. I can’t be seen flirting with the boss, inappropriate workplace behaviour, food contamination and that sort of stuff.”
They take another order paper and blow him a kiss before they start working on the next order. Maybe they should randomly say more references to their world’s media.
