Work Text:

“Y’know Valentina don’t want ya’ coming here anymore, Riff,” Tony huffed out, one fist pressed against Riff’s shoulder to keep him against the wall.

Riff was just smirking, he knew Tony wouldn’t do anything about it, anyways, “Yea? There ain’t nothing she could do about it. You don’t care either, do ya’?”

Tony squinted before pushing himself off of Riff, turning around and continuing to stock up a wooden basket.

“See, if you did, I would’ve been forced outta ‘ere by now. But, I’m not, you like me too much,” Riff grabbed a can, tossing it into the air and catching it, continuing that loop.

Tony glances at Riff before extending a hand out and swiping the can away from him, “Give me that,” He spat, but there was no hostility behind it (obviously).

Riff chuckled, waiting for Tony to turn back around before he curled his fingers over Tony’s shoulders, tightening his grip.

Tony froze up, letting out a sigh and Riff could feel the rise and fall of Tony’s shoulders, “What’s up with ya’, Tony? You’ve been acting like an… eehhh.. An odd ball if you will.”

Tony was very slowly grabbing cans and slipping them into the basket, subconsciously trying to avoid nudging Riff’s hands away.

Riff went from grinning to a slight frown, elevating himself and resting his cheek against Tony’s shoulder in a playful way.

“Speak to me, Tony, seriously. What’s goin’ on? Did some broad break your heart? How sad,” Riff pouted before smiling again.

Tony turned his head slightly, making eye contact with Riff who was currently gripping onto his shoulders and slouched over on Tony.

Tony scoffed, shaking his head, “Knock if off.”

Tony brushed Riff off, the shorter male finally budging and scooting back. Awesome, Tony could move again.

Riff followed Tony, wherever he would walk. And still, Tony didn’t do anything about it.

“There ain’t nothing up with me, by the way,” Tony hummed, placing down a full basket and picking up an empty one, beginning to fill it.

Riff was quiet. Tony looked up, blinking, “I knew you’d ask again so I thought I’d answer before you could,” Tony smiled, standing up straight and tilting his head at Riff.

Riff nodded, “You are so proud to be able to predict me, ain’t ya?” Riff grinned, placing his hands on his hips and walking towards Tony.

Tony shrugged, “I think I can predict most of the Jets pretty well, even after being locked up.” Tony stood in his place, watching as Riff got closer.

Riff took that as his chance, taking one quick step forward and leaning over, “Whiiiiich, means you should start walkin’ the streets with us again!—”

Tony groaned, “No, Riff, I can’t. My parole officer said I can’t leave! I ain’t gonna wander, I can’t.”

Riff moved closer, “Who cares! Like he’d know. Even an hour with us, you’re a Jet, Tony, nothing is changin’ that!”

Tony shook his head, “No, I got a job, Valentina needs me.” Tony moved past Riff, grabbing the pale one’s waist to move him to the side, but before he could walk any further Riff’s hand wrapped around Tony’s wrist, while Tony’s hand stayed on Riff’s waist.

It was quiet for a second before Tony turned to face Riff. Riff usually had this playful, careless glint in his eyes but now it was genuine, almost pleading. And Tony was nearly about to fold.

Riff snickered before tilting his head, “How ‘bout for an hour?”

Tony narrowed his eyes.

“Thirty minutes, tops,” Riff adjusted, smirking.

Tony stared at Riff, both of them just standing in silence while their chests’ were rising and falling.

“¡Tony, apurate!” Valentina’s shouting was faint, but definitely audible.

Tony sighed, about to move away from Riff.

“Please?” Riff added, grinning like he knew this would work.

It did. It did work.

Tony groaned, squeezing Riff’s waist slightly before moving away, using his hand to support the basket of cans he was holding, “Alright, alright. And, I ain’t doing this for you, I’m doing it for me.”

Riff smiled, “Really? How could this possibly benefit you, Tony. If it always were gonna benefit ya’ it wouldn’t have taken this much effort, huh?” Riff smirked, following behind Tony with his hands behind his back.

“I can just feel it, somethin’s gonna happen! I’ve been reachin’ for it,” Tony added, the last bit of their incredibly platonic conversation.
