Chapter Text
Maggie Dresden was turning twelve years old on Friday. Her birthday was quite the big deal to her father and all of his close friends. The birthday girl had requested a pizza party at a local family owned establishment near the castle.
Harry Dresden was well known by most of the pizza joints in the city. If there was a best customer award offered, he would have won it six or seven times over. Keeping fairies like Toot-Toot Minimus and his various ilk in his employ required many frequent purchases of pizza as payment.
Sprites and other fae folk love pizza. Who would have guessed.
It was two days before the young girl’s special day and a car pulled up to the castle bearing a messenger from the White Court of Vampires bearing the seal of Lara Raith. The young succubus waited patiently outside of the castle’s threshold as Harry cautiously accepted the envelope she carried for his attention.

Dear Harry,
Thomas has informed me that your daughter Maggie is turning twelve on Friday. While I am aware that a celebration is planned in her honor at Pizza Xpress, I would also like to host a party for her on Saturday at the Raith Compound.
With your approval, I will hire caterers and entertainment. I was hoping to surprise the birthday girl with carnival rides, games and perhaps pony rides. Also the entire garden area with an inground pool would be hers to enjoy with any friends she might like to invite.
Please let me know immediately if this meets your approval.
Lara

Harry stared at the letter in disbelief before crumbling it into a ball and muttering “Over my dead body.” Glaring at the messenger, he spoke with barely contained anger “You can tell Lara that I would rather hold a live grenade in hand before I let my daughter anywhere near the White Court.”
And with that said, he slammed the castle door in the young woman’s face.
