Work Text:
It was in the middle of the day and the only thing that kept Akk from stumbling over his feet and falling to the ground was Ayan, his arms around him as he helped him into his room. It was pretty clear from the way Akk’s face was flushed and from the way he kept shaking that Akk was sick.
Akk kept complaining about how he was fine and how he still needed to attend that meeting, but Ayan just dragged him over to his car and took him back home because Akk needed to be far away from work and all of his responsibilities. Because Ayan knew how Akk was, he decided to go with him and make sure that Akk wasn’t going to try and overwork himself from there as well.
That was why he was here, slowly closing the door behind them and Akk whined when he tried to walk on his own, but Ayan stopped him, his fingers stubbornly curling around Ayan’s sleeve.
“Aye!” whined Akk. “I can walk on my own!”
Ayan smiled softly and he shook his head.
“You keep clinging onto me,” said Ayan, pointing it out for him and Akk glanced down.
Akk’s head felt a bit funny, his brain feeling like mush, but otherwise he felt fine. Though, he was shaking as he felt pretty cold, but all in all, he was fine. He didn’t get why Ayan was making such a big fuss about it.
“Aye,” said Akk, shaking his head. “Look. I can stand just fine on my own.”
Akk slowly leaned back and crossed his arms over his chest, looking at his boyfriend stubbornly and Ayan only shook his head, sighing as he watched Akk trying to prove his point to him and clicked with his tongue.
Akk was all frowns now, getting all defensive, but Ayan knew why it was like that – Akk wasn’t really used to being taken care of, so he was being very patient with him. Akk’s hair was slightly damp and stuck to his forehead, he kept shaking and his face was red. His eyes were a bit glassy and Ayan definitely didn’t feel comfortable leaving Akk on his own like this.
“I. Am. Fine.”
“You’re shaking,” said Ayan.
“Mmm. It’s cold.”
Ayan sighed softly and wrapped an arm around his waist without asking. Akk stiffened a bit, but then he felt how warm Ayan was, so he melted into it and allowed Ayan to slowly drag him over to the couch in his room, biting on his lower lip because his stomach made a weird flop and he could feel his nose getting a bit stuffy.
“Sit,” sighed Ayan softly and Akk listened.
The couch suddenly appeared under him and he slowly landed down, Ayan guiding him down and he placed a hand over his forehead. Akk’s face was hot to the touch, but just to be extra sure, Ayan gently cradled his face, pulled his face up a bit and pressed his lips over his forehead.
Yep.
Akk probably had a fever.
It didn’t feel too bad, but it was still enough to make Ayan worry.
“You have a fever, Akk,” said Ayan and Akk glanced down.
“Mmm, maybe,” sighed Akk, shuddering again and he looked around. “It’s cold.”
Akk whined, complaining and Ayan smiled, giving him a little nod.
All that Ayan wanted to do was to move over to the chair over in the corner, where Akk had two blankets stacked on top of each other, but when Akk saw him moving away, he sort of panicked as he didn’t want Ayan to leave?
Why was he leaving?
Was he afraid that he would get him sick, too?
Akk’s stomach flopped again, but he was stubborn about it. He wasn’t going to let his germs pass onto Ayan. He was going to tell them to stay put! With a pout, he reached out and grabbed onto Ayan’s hand.
“Akk?”
“Don’t leave,” whined Akk and Ayan smiled when he heard that clingy tone, giving him a little shake of his head and he sat down next to him, gently fixing his hair and he could see how Akk’s lashes were slightly clumped up as he had been rubbing his eyes before.
“I’m not leaving,” said Ayan.
“Not true, you were trying to leave me just now,” said Akk and he scowled. “Are you afraid you’ll catch my germs?” asked Akk and cleared his throat. It felt scratchy. “You can’t, Aye. I will tell my germs to stay away from you.”
Ayan’s eyes widened and then he leaned back, chuckling under his breath.
Seriously?
This side of Akk never got old. He always got this whiny and clingy when he didn’t feel well. Also, he was always super honest at moments like this and Ayan only shook his head, slowly combing Akk’s hair to the side.
But, this was new.
Akk had now superpowers, huh?
Ayan beamed at him.
“Oh? How will you do this? Do you have super powers, Akk?”
“Power of love,” said Akk and Ayan smiled, shaking his head.
“I just wanted to get you those blankets,” explained Ayan and eyed to the side, Akk perking up, but in the end he settled down and gave him a little nod, allowing Ayan to get them because blankets weren’t such a bad idea, actually.
Akk sighed and smiled when Ayan draped one of the blankets over his shoulder, quickly adding another one and Ayan snorted when he saw Akk holding onto the blankets. He looked absolutely adorable and fluffy, Ayan chewing on his lower lip because he also needed to get Akk to drink medicine and drink some water.
Food came later.
“Better?” asked Ayan.
Akk nodded.
“Mmm. Thank you, Aye. You’re the best. I love you.”
Ayan smiled.
“Love you too,” said Ayan. “I’ll get you some water, okay?”
Akk’s jaw dropped – didn’t he just say that he wouldn't leave? Akk reached out and grabbed onto Ayan’s wrist, pulling and tugging, a pout on his lips when Ayan turned around and he slowly stopped in his tracks.
“Take me with you,” whined Akk.
Ayan dragged teeth over his lower lip.
Akk had been clingy before, but never like this.
Ayan’s heart was melting.
“Your kitchen is just-”
“Too far. Aye, please, you said you wouldn’t leave!”
“It’s just water-”
“Aye!” whined Akk and then he leaned against him, smiling as he took a deep breath in, burying his face into Ayan’s shoulder. His shirt smelled so nice and he pressed his lips together, feeling his eyes getting prickly.
Ayan stopped once more and gently ruffled Akk’s hair, who sighed.
“You smell so good, Aye,” whispered Akk.
Ayan had to bite into his lower lip, leaning closer to Akk.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah, you smell like home, Aye,” said Akk. “So warm.”
“Akk,” started Ayan again, the tone of his voice calm and collected, completely patient. If Akk wouldn't wait for him to leave, then he wouldn’t, but he really wanted Akko to drink that medicine. “Can you be patient with me and wait for me here? I’ll only be back a second.”
Akk’s heart fell.
“You said-”
“I’ll just get you a glass of water and some medicine,” said Ayan and Akk looked to the side. He didn’t really need water or medicine, he needed Ayan. Nothing was really making sense to Akk right now, he felt too out of it. He was annoyed with the thought of Ayan leaving him.
“But-”
“Baby,” sighed Ayan and Akk smiled at the nickname. “One minute. That’s all. Na?”
“I’ll go with you.”
Ayan laughed, but he saw that he couldn’t really change Akk’s mind, so he decided that Akk was tagging along, slowly standing up with him, trailing after Ayan into the kitchen, clutching onto the blankets and Ayan couldn’t stop smiling because Akk was too adorable.
Those blankets that he was huddled under only made him look cuter.
Still, Ayan was worried, so he slowly poured some water into an empty glass, hurrying to find the medicine as Akk was now leaning against the counter, his eyes on the clock upon the wall. A frown appeared on his face when a minute passed by, keeping track of time, but Ayan still didn’t have the medicine ready.
By the time that Ayan did find the needed medicine, a minute and twenty seconds passed by!
Ayan frowned when he saw Akk’s frowning and pouting.
He smiled.
“What’s with the frown?” asked Ayan.
“It’s been over a minute and you only found the medicine now,” scolded him Akk and Ayan just chuckled when he heard that Akk was scolding him. Nothing new, but to be scolded about something like this? Too cute.
Sighing, Ayan slowly handed him the glass of water and the pill, Akk allowing Ayan to take care of him properly. He parted his lips, allowing Ayan to feed him the pill and he took a few big gulps, making a face when he forced the pill down, his stomach flopping again and he whined.
“Aye.”
“Mmm, you did good, Akk,” said Ayan, gently rubbing his back.
Akk was beaming at him – he liked Ayan fussing over him like this. Biting on his lower lip, Akk hesitated a bit, but then he slowly reached out and grabbed onto Ayan’s sleeve.
“Aye, can we go sit down? My legs are tired,” said Akk and Ayan slowly nodded along, his smile big as he slowly guided Akk back towards the couch, scooting next to him as Ayan turned on the TV and found them something to watch – a documentary about animals.
It was the first thing that appeared and Akk decided that he was interested, but as he continued watching, something started to creep into his mind. The documentary’s next segment was talking about bugs and Akk started to have a very silly thought – would Aye still like him if he turned into a bug?
It was silly.
Too childish.
But, the more he thought about it…
“Aye?” came Akk’s little voice and Ayan slowly turned towards him.
“Yes?”
“Would you still love me if I was…” started Akk, but the rest of the words were muffled by the blanket and Ayan frowned, slowly pulling the blanket down, humming along.
“What was that?”
Akk’s face was red.
Well.
“Nothing.”
“Akk?”
“It’s stupid-”
“Trust me, it’s not. Just ask away,” said Ayan, gently ruffling his hair and Akk held in his breath, but then he slowly decided to ask, anyway.
“If… If I turned into a bug like that,” started Akk slowly, feeling dizzy. “Would you still like me?”
It was so random, especially for Akk.
Ayan’s jaw dropped and he blinked a few times. It was the last thing that Ayan expected to hear from someone like Akk, so he blinked a few times, a bit taken back and he chewed on his lower lip.
Then, he snorted.
Akk frowned and turned around – his boyfriend was a traitor.
Ayan’s lips curled up and he wrapped his arms around Akk and pulled him into his lap. Akk kept glaring up at him, but the more time that passed by, Akk slowly started to melt, Ayan kissing every part of his face until he had Akk giggling in his arms.
“Yes,” said Ayan.
“Mmm?”
“I would still like you, even if you turned into a bug,” said Ayan and Akk’s eyes widened.
“But I would be ugly,” said Akk and made a face.
“Ugly? No way, you would be the cutest, even as a bug,” said Ayan.
"Would you keep me in a jar?"
"No way, I would give you the most luxurious home ever," said Ayan as he tried not to laugh about it. Akk was taking this seriously. "With fresh and yummy leaves."
Akk made a face and shook his head.
"No?"
"I'd prefer chocolate," said Akk with a giggle and Ayan snorted, planting a kiss over Akk's forehead.
"Fine, then plenty of chocolates" said Ayan, his heart ready to explode because Akk was currently too cute. He decided to not tease him too much about it – at the moment – going back to watching the documentary, but after Akk got better, Ayan made sure to mess with him just a little bit.
Akk was absolutely the cutest.
