Summary:

What if Wifies had survived the explosion?

Notes:

not that good at writing, so please ignore any mistakes or errors lol

Work Text:

It had been long since the death of Wifies. A lot had changed since then. Sometimes Parrot would wonder if he could’ve survived. But nevertheless, it was impossible. Wifies was dead.

15 million blocks out from spawn.

It had taken him months to get out that far, but he knew he had to disappear. Nobody could find him.

On a trip back to spawn for some materials, he saw a poster hanging up. ‘Vote Parot’. Who the hell was Parot, and why would people need to vote for him? After collecting his materials, he wandered around spawn, of course making sure he had his invisibility on. He found himself in Capital City.

“Hey, who are you voting for king?” Someone said.

“Of course I'm voting for LettuceK, who else would I vote for?”

He made his way to this place called the ‘Northern Council’? Something like that. There was a huge board with people’s faces, and numbers he guessed were how many votes they had. He scanned the people to see if he recognized them. Then he saw him. Parrot. He wasn’t high up on the board, sitting at 6th place. He paused, just staring at it, until someone came up to him, “Hey, y’know you can’t be invis in here?” His head snapped towards the voice. In front of him stood ParrotX2. “You have to take it off, or the guards will probably kill you or something.” He didn’t say anything, just placed down a sign that read 'can't.' “What do you mean you can't—" He had already flown off. Parrot stood there, puzzled. What was that guy’s problem? He shrugged it off and went back to his room.

As he crashed down into his house, his invisibility already worn off, he went over what just happened. He just saw Parrot. ParrotX2.

Wifies stared at the friendship bracelet he had made for him and Parrot, Parrot’s one probably long gone. He hadn't seen Parrot since Paragon, where he supposedly died for the second time. Parrot saw the invisible player zoom off and knew something was wrong. There always was every time there was an invis player. So, here he was, millions of blocks away from spawn, barely keeping track of some random player. Sure, people like this appear every once in a while. But not people like this. Something was different.

As he looked up, he expected some random player or someone with armies not-

"… wifies?"

Parrot whispered, not daring to move an inch as he stared at his 'dead' best friend.

"Parrot-? Why—why are you here—what?!" Wifies exclaimed, shocked at the intruder.

"I should be the one asking questions; you're dead!" Wifies paused at that.

He stared at the spyglass. Parrot had left him. He was going to die. No. He wouldn't die after everything. He dashed, faster than he had ever ran before, grabbing the spyglass and stumbling up the stairs. The explosion did hit him, causing a scar to be etched into his face and arm. Wifies mindlessly traced the scars at the memory, "I… Parrot…" He didn't know what to say. What could he say?

"How—how did you survive?" Parrot asked, his voice firm, making Wifies believe he was mad, when he was on the verge of tears.

"...I don't know. I shouldn't have. I wired the explosions so that if you ran, you would live. I shouldn't have been able to survive. But I did."

"Then why didn't you tell me? Give me some sort of sign that you were still alive?" Parrot was getting annoyed. It made no sense. He wasn't particularly mad; he was hurt. He spent months trying to get over Wifies. Just to find out he was alive?

"Well—you were doing so well—you're running for king! You're better off without me. I can't keep you safe."

'I was scared of you being upset. Finding you just to lose you all over again. I couldn't take something like that.'

Parrot knew something was wrong about Wifies' explanation, but something was wrong about this entire interaction.

Wifies hated everything about this. It was too hot. Too cold. Too much of everything. He hated it. He squeezed the spyglass tighter, as if it were a lifeline. He couldn't speak. The only thing he could say was,

"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I messed up. I know I did, and I know I can't fix that. I don't expect you to forgive me, give me a second chance, or anything like that."

Parrot just stared at him. "You're right. You messed up. Badly. But I meant it when I said I would remember you as the Wifies who was kind to everyone. Not the Wifies who did all those horrible things. I don't forgive you, but everyone deserves a second chance."

So that's how Parrot ended up here. Sat next to a dead man, talking about the past, catching up.

Being friends.
