Never in a million lives would Tommy ever voluntarily hang out with Määnin Mannerheim. That guy was an idiot, more so, he was embarrassing, trying far too much to be cool. Wearing sunglasses inside, copying Freppa and Tommy’s style by wearing all denim, no. Tommy could renounce Määnin’s inappropriate comments and excessive beer drinking. Everyone knew that vodka mixed with trip juice was the ultimate combination.
Määnin had become very annoying the past few days. So annoying that Tommy would go and complain about him. He couldn’t bear another night in the same tent as him. Yes of course it was understandable that they would randomize who would have to share a tent with whom. This was a youth camp after all and learning to survive would include random connections. But Määnin was insufferable.
He bumped into someone, fell on the dirt. Oh, fuck. That was Axel. The polar opposite of Määnin and the coolest guy Tommy knew. Or didn’t because he had never talked to him before. But the way he held himself? Even the way he looked down at Tommy in the mud right now. Astonishing, Tommy knew his puberty was working a great job. He felt that actually.
“Watch yourself”, Axel groaned. This was his third year attending this camp, he held badges of honour, sewn on his jacket, and sometimes helped watching over younger participants. He was so cool.
Axel offered Tommy his hand, which made Tommy blush far too much, he mumbled an apology and got up. He had never been this close to Axel.
Before Tommy could say anything else, Axel continued walking. Oh, he had a great ass. Tommy shook himself.
If he could just approach Axel. But Axel would never want to be with Tommy, he was far too cool for him. Tommy had just run into him by accident. It was okay, he could continue to admire him from afar.
“Tommy, have you seen my flashlight?”
Tommy rolled his eyes. He ignored Määnin, who had just appeared out of thin air, to go and finally give up an official complaint about him.
Because Axel Åhman was so much cooler than Määnin Mannerheim.
