Giddy

Summary:

Adira and Gray eat breakfast after their first night together.

Work Text:

Adira couldn’t keep themselves from smiling despite nothing being different from every other morning when they got breakfast in the mess hall. The one difference was that they’d arrived earlier than normal, unable to sleep after the evening before, and the mess hall wasn’t as busy as it usually was when Adira made it to breakfast.

After getting their food, Adira found a table in the corner where they hoped no one would notice that they couldn’t stop smiling to themselves. Yesterday’s memories kept floating through their mind, and they had to clench their teeth together to stop themselves from giggling. Adira kept hoping they’d be able to calm down before their lessons started later, but that was seeming less and less likely.

They were halfway through their breakfast when Grey appeared, making Adira’s heart skip a beat.

“Mind if I sit here?” he asked.

Adira’s smile grew. “Obviously not.”

He sat down beside them close enough that their arms brushed as they ate. Adira couldn’t look at him without giggling. Adira was sure that everything they’d done the night before was written on their faces. It was a little embarrassing, but that didn’t stop the chills that traveled down Adira’s spine each time Grey’s arm brushed theirs.

Adira hadn’t realized that being intimate with someone could change so much. They had already loved Grey. It had been unimaginable that their feelings could go stronger.

And they weren’t sure that they were stronger per se. They loved Grey just as much that morning as they had the night before, but something was different. The way every cell in Adira’s body seemed to be on fire due to their proximity was new. It was different from the butterflies they’d once gotten from being in Grey’s presence. Those felt so innocent now.
