Chapter Text
Pounding rain. Dreary neighborhood. Shootings that happen at least once or twice a week.
Its not uncommon for that to happen in the poor old city of Harney. It why not a lot of people go out anymore. This percentage of people that hide in their homes all day includes Richard Peterson, a man of many..useless talents.
So, get this. He's 39, pushing on 40, working a stay at home job for fucking State Farm. Answering calls from day to night, overworking himself on documents that could be procrasinated on for quite a while. Thats his life. And, to put the cherry on top, hes looking to MARRY! Who would wanna marry a guy like that! No use of using some dating website, nonono. Richard would never work out in a relationship. Never in a million years. Of course, that doesn't stop him from trying. He's gone on around..what, 4 dates in the past 4 months? None of them have worked out. Plans are cancelled because of weather, dates don't even bother to show up. Its a hard and sad life for this man right here. Yet, he keeps going, for some strange and unusual reason.
He believes that one day he will find true love.
Whether it be on the internet or in real life.
I'm not the one to judge, though, I suppose. Its a bit pathetic, though, if you think about it from an outsiders perspective.
It's 9:45pm on a Friday. After today, its free. A man who has a posture like-wise to a shrimp slowly fades into view. He's at his computer, who he notably named Peter. However, Peter isn't the main character of our story, now is he? No, no. The main character of our story is the shrimp-looking man. This man's name is Richard Peterson, a 39 year old couch potato that barely doesn anything useful in his life, other than..insurance, I suppose. However, complications about his use aside, he still serves no purpose other than..one measly thing. Its pitiful, how much value he has to Earth. I'm sure even God must be crying tears of empathy for this poor, poor man. Of course, we all know god doesn't exist in this neighborhood. If he did, people would still feel safe going outside. Maybe thats why he's pathetic. Because he's scared, worried for his safety. What a sad life. Living in fear all the time. Scared of real people. It has to just be..horrible for poor Richard, right?
Well, its apparently not. Richard loves his life. Its so nice to him, not having to go out. Of course, even with how much he loves it, he yearns. Deep, deep inside, he aches for something more. Something bigger. Something beyond being stuck at home all day. You could say..Homestuck: Beyond. Ha. Ha. Ha.
