Work Text:
Kaito leaned back, trying his best to hide his grin as he watched Shuichi, whose focus was entirely on the movie in front of them—a sci-fi movie that Kaito absolutely loved and wanted to see his boyfriend's reaction to.
His girlfriend's reaction, too, but she was too busy rummaging through the kitchen at the moment to even watch the movie.
"Where is it…?" he heard her say, followed by a loud thud.
"What are ya looking for in there, Kaede?" Kaito finally called out, eyes still glued to the movie.
Kaede huffed. "My cheddar popcorn! I bought a bag of it last week, and now I can't find it."
Look, Kaito loved his girlfriend dearly, she loved him back, and it was good. What the three of them had good, and Kaito wouldn't give it up for anything. But… admitting to eating Kaede's snacks was pretty much the equivalent to confessing a murder. Which was exactly what Kaito—and Tenko, to be entirely fair, had done last time he invited her over to the apartment.
But Tenko wasn't here to share the blame.
"Huh. That's weird," Kaito replied as evenly as he could. "Did you check behind the cereal boxes?"
"Why would it be behind the cereal boxes?" A pause. "It's not."
Kaito had to keep himself from wincing when Kaede stepped into the living room.
"Shuichi, you wouldn't happen to know what happened to my popcorn, would you?"
"Hm? No, I haven't." Shuichi looked up then, glancing back at Kaede before looking over at Kaito. Kaito swallowed. "But… I don't think it's in the kitchen at all."
After a long beat, Kaede managed to put two-and-two together and she huffed again as she joined them on the couch, pinching Kaito's arm as she did. "You're lucky I love you, or I would be kicking your butt right now."
Kaito wrapped his arm around her, chuckling when she puffed her cheeks back at him. "Noted."
