Work Text:
Growing up Tzuyu hated the colour yellow. It reminded her of many things she doesn't like— bananas, bees and the sun.
So naturally whenever someone asks her what's her favourite colour it's always the same answer.
"Definitely not yellow."
But today was different. This time Sana asked her.
Sana— whom she'd known since she was 8. Who was there for all the things that happened to her, who knows her better than herself, who she'd always cherished.
"You know, I've always wondered— What is your favourite colour? After all we've been through I still haven't figured it out." Sana hummed.
As Tzuyu was about to answer with the same sentence she did whenever someone asked her about it, Sana cut her off.
"I think mine would be yellow." She softly says.
Tzuyu raised a brow at that. Not once did she talk about the colour, so it was surprising— really.
"How so?" Tzuyu questions.
"Well, I don't know they just became my favourite because of you."
Now, Tzuyu was even more confused.
Tzuyu furrowed her brow. "Huh? What did I do?"
"Well, you know how you puked that banana smoothie? or how you got chased by bees? or that time you fainted under the sun?"
Tzuyu frowned. "Are you annoying me right now?" Those are some of the moments Tzuyu wished she could forget, it's been years ago yet somehow Sana still remembered them.
Sana snickered seeing Tzuyu's reaction. "No.." she trailed off. "But those moments were the reason I loved you."
Tzuyu's heart skipped a beat, her mind racing but she forced herself to stop. Sana had always been like this, way too affectionate to the point she'd accidentally mislead someone. Tzuyu was no different.
Tzuyu tried to concentrate. "Hm?" She asks causally, trying to act like she wasn't panicking inside at all.
"Cmon, did you seriously forget? I was there with you when they happened." Sana rolled her eyes.
Tzuyu opened her mouth to speak when she suddenly remembered it all happening again.
She was there when Tzuyu had thrown up a banana smoothie that Sana made because the taste made her puke when she was 9, when the bees chased her for half an hour because Sana wanted honey and she thought you just had to ask nicely and they'll give you honey when she was 12, when she fainted under the sun because the heat made her dizzy while Sana panicked the whole time she hasn't woken up when she was 14.
"I guess you were."
Sana nodded. "Mhm, that's why it's my favourite. What about yours?"
Tzuyu thought about it for a while.
Maybe she did hate the color yellow because of all those embarrassing things that happened to her, but it didn't matter now. Because during those times, Sana was there. She was always there with her, sobbing all throughout the events that happened to Tzuyu.
"I guess I like the color yellow too.” Tzuyu admitted.
