"I can't believe I got the mace, finally!" Evourai gleamed, using a rocket to accelerate his speed, trying to get to Noob's base faster. His elytra flapped, reflecting on his eager personality. "He's gonna be really proud of me," he continued, feeling quite prideful of himself. After fighting all those opponents, the riptide-macing, the end crystals, and Chompza, Noob should be proud of him! He also gained quite some skill after all that happened. "I think it might be the first time I ever actually make Noob proud, bro, I'm not gonna lie." He murmured to himself as he neared the top of Noob's house.
He chuckled, switching to his chestplate and pulling out a mace. "Noob!" Evo called out, missing his mace hit as Noob turned to stare at him. "I missed," he huffed. "Yo, what's good, bro?" Noob greeted with the same tone of voice he always used when talking to Evourai. "Look at me, bro," replied Evo as he took out the unenchanted mace he won from the trials. "Ay, you got it!" Noob cheered as Evo gave him said mace, inspecting the quality. "Nice," he drawled. Evourai smiled, "I did it, bro." He preened, showing off two of his maces.
"Hey, hey. Hold on a minute." Noob interrupted, a smirk on his face. "Give me my mace, okay, buddy?" The Iron Hammer shoved the unenchanted mace into Evo's hands, raising an eyebrow. "Good job, though!" He confirmed as Evourai grunted. "Uh- but, you can have this, bro!" He gave back the mace he won, watching Noob sputter. "I wanna keep this one." He pouted, holding Noob's mace, the one he gave him before entering the tournament. "Wh- oh my." Noob rolled his eyes. "You're just going to enchant it yourself!" Evourai huffed.
"Whatever. Whatever! It don't matter, it don't matter. Yeah, I got- I got books." Opening his enderchest, Noob placed down a bright pink shulker, making Evo's attention go to it immediately. "I got books, oh, wait. Hold on." As soon as Evourai got a peek, Noob broke the shulker and placed it back into his e-chest. "Wrong shulker." He chuckled. "First of all, bro," Evourai started, being rudely interrupted by Noob again. "I got books!" He pridefully showed, placing a black shulker full of enchantment books. "Oh, okay. I get it, I get it. Nice, bro."
Noob only laughed in response, picking up the shulker and copying the motion before, placing it inside his enderchest. "I- I did it, bro." Evourai smiled. "First of all, I wanna say," muttered Evo quickly, "what the fuck is wrong with you?" He got closer to Noob, holding out his sword. Noob did the same, sensing the change in the others tone. "'Cause everything I went through," he furrowed his brows. Noob scowled. "What did I do?" His shoulders tensed, ready for a fight. "You did not tell me I was going to, like, fight people that had crystals, spears, and Chompza had a mace. A mace?"
"What did you expect?" Noob countered, leaning in and getting in Evourai's space. "You didn't tell me!" Evo sighed, backing up and pacing around. "I thought it was going to be, like- all them having swords and stuff, bro. I didn't expect like a whole..." He trailed off as he saw Noob's deadpanned expression. "Are you stupid? If you're able to have a breach mace, so, why would people not have, like, their own things?" He brought out his own spear, as if to emphasise his point. "It's kind of, hey, you should've expected that!" He stepped closer before backing away again. "But also, um, I'm actually kind of surprised you won to be honest."
Evourai raised his brows, urging Noob to continue. "You pulled through, you did it!" Noob cheered, crossing his arms. "Very good, bro, very good." He praised, and Evourai would've basked in it if not for Noob's distant gaze. "This trial is the end. I mean, even though you won once, I mean, like- you're still nowhere near as good as someone amazing like me." He boasted, showing off his netherite spear again. Evourai rolled his eyes, windcharging up. "But! It's just- it's just something," Evourai cut off his sentence with a mace to the face. "Really, bro?" Noob sighed, holding his shield up as Evo started play-fighting him. "Really, bro? You- you wanna go right now?"
"Yup, yup, sure." Evo repeated as he saw Noob equip his elytra and windcharge up. "Okay- I'll, I'll just-" he stuttered as Noob striked him, dealing three hearts of damage. "Yo, chill on me, bro!" He pleaded. "Alright, alright- alright." He huffed, but listened to Noob as he spoke about his unenchanted mace again. "This- getting to somewhere, like, my level is just something you have to get to over time. Like, you'll just have to keep fighting, playing on the server, and then eventually, maybe you might- probably never going to be as good as me, but," Noob shrugged, a playful expression coating his features, "you could probably be up there. You could probably be up there."
"So," he continued on with his dialogue and Evourai listened silently, holding both of his maces, "just keep fighting. Keep, keep practicing, keep training and you can get there." Noob walked slightly, humming as he thought more about what to say. "I will say though," but, before he could continue, Evourai interrupted him again. "Alright! Well, can we train again or what?" He chirped, jumping up and down as if he was stretching. "I'm actually kind of excited now. I'm going to get better. Let's train daily from now on!"
If Evourai wasn't distracted from all of his thoughts of training the mace, he'd notice the look of uneasiness on Noob's face as the man clad in blue pranced around. "Like, you know, go crazy and get better daily." He kicked the dust from the sandstone underneath his feet, smiling at all the possible scenarios of Noob training him. "Okay, well, I will say- okay." Noob calmed him from all his fidgeting. "I haven't exactly been completely honest with you..." Condescendingly, Noob murmured just loud enough for Evo to hear him. The latter stilled. "Um," the Iron Hammer hummed. "What do you mean? Wait, what?" Evourai's voice got lower, suspicious.
"Um, okay." Noob settled, trying to ease Evo's worries. "So, for the majority of the time I've been on the server, I've, obviously, like, been a player on my own." He explained, glancing towards the other to see if he was still listening or not. "I've been more so of a solo player and I kind of wanna, get back into that? And, like, do my own stuff, go on, like, my own little adventures. You know, see what I could do, uh, on my own again, so." Evourai froze, his hand grabbing his mace instinctively.
"What..?" He breathed, and Noob's face scrunched up. "Um, that's kind of why I wanted to train you up because- yes, the ego thing is true and yes, you are kind of an idiot. Uh, so I thought that," he continued with a bit of a chuckle. "So I thought it would be best to, uh, train you up a bit, you know. Get you really understanding how to- play the freaking game before, uh, I go off on my own way." Go off? Noob was leaving him? Weren't they a good team? Sure, Evo dragged the guy into a lot of his conflicts, actually, all of them, but, he didn't think it was that bad!
Evourai took a step back, his voice growing shaky. What about his training? "Bro, no." He said, his voice cracking at the end of the word. "Come on, bruh." He tried to convince himself that Noob was just joking, that he was gonna say it was a prank, but... "I'm sorry, dude. I'm sorry, but this is just- this is just how it has to be, you know." Noob tried explaining, but Evo glanced away before the guy could see how his eyes shined with unexpectedness. "I mean, like, I'll probably see you again at some point," he tried cheering him up, "but, uh, I'm gonna need some time to, uh, do my own stuff, you know?"
"Bro," mumbled out Evourai, genuinely confused. Did he do something wrong? Was he not supposed to win the mace trials? "Are you serious? Like, I mean- I just- like, wh- what?" He scoffed, stuttering on his words. Was it his fault? Was Noob leaving because of him? No, it can't be. "What- what am I supposed to do?" His tone grew gloomy. Without Noob, who could he even trust? Did he even have a teammate after him anymore? "What," he stumbled on his words, disoriented. "Dude, you just pulled through! You just won, uh, you just won, like, a very hard trial." Noob responded, gesturing with his hands. "Not many people can do that, so. I mean, I don't know? Pat yourself on the back and keep going. That's what it is. It's really just about experience."
"You're not, uh- I mean, you did know from the start you weren't always gonna have me here to help you out, right?" Noob retorted, trying to lighten up the mood. It did nothing for Evo's spiralling mind. "Not- not really, I'm going to be honest." He simply answered, avoiding his mentor's eyes by watching the wooden house behind him, looking at the leaves, anything. Anything to not let Noob see how hazy he is. "Oh, my god, this guy." Noob only rolled his eyes as Evourai turned away, watching the nearby forest.
"I mean, like- like, I feel like you just gotta change your mindset, you know?" Noob reasoned. "It's not about who it is. You could beat them. You could- you can do it. It doesn't matter who it is. It doesn't matter how many people there are, it doesn't matter what they have." He stepped closer, noticing Evourai's silence. "That's how you gotta think, that you can do it, and then you will be able to." He reassured, his voice steady and stable. "Without you?" Evourai sighed. "Yes, without me!"
Evourai walked to the edge of Noob's base, scoffing. He reflected on their memories. Like when he first got lectured on how to use the mace. How they fought the viking nation together. How they beat the witherstorm, how Noob lost a life. "I mean, like," Noob huffed, "you know, it really- it really is what it is, bro. I'm telling you." He stepped into Evourai's vision, drawing his attention. "As long as you just put your mind to it, as long as you really try hard, um, you could do whatever you want to do." He continued as the other paced around again, seemingly restless. "You got that, bro."
"You're not gonna be here anymore." Evourai suddenly turned to Noob, his feet stilling as he stopped treading. "That's... gonna change a lot of things, I guess." He inhaled a breath, finally meeting the other mace wielder's eyes. "Yeah, you're not going to have the best player in the history of the world with you." He shrugged, smiling as Evo murmured an "okay, bro" under his breath. Both of them chuckled, seemingly in a better mood than just now. "Oh, man." Evourai groaned, wiping a hand over his face. "Are you serious? I just- I can't, like, I don't know, bro. That's a big change."
And a big change it is. He would probably still fall into the familiar habit of looking to the side and expecting Noob to be trailing behind him, or calling out to Noob as he fought. At least he still had Noob's mace with him. "Well, you got my old mace, now." Speak of the devil. "That's a really big change, bro." Evourai returned, starting to meander around again. "I think you know what you're doing, at this point. Um, I have faith that you'll be able to do whatever you want to do, so, with that... I'm gonna dip, but..." He trailed off.
"Will I see you again?" With the wind blowing on both his hair and body, Evourai looked up, meeting Noob's gaze yet again. His headband flapped and fluttered, much like his conflicted feelings, and yet, nothing could distract him from his focus on Noob. A pleasant silence followed, giving Noob a chance to think about his next words. Whatever they will be, it will affect Evo. "Or no?"
Noob only smiled as he answered. "Maybe one day. Probably not." His voice was still the same as ever, and Evourai was certain that he was going to miss Noob's company. His stupid jokes, how he cheered him up when things were low, everything related to Noob would remind him of the mace wielder. "Realistically, but." he added, walking around. "I mean, to be honest," Evo started, "I did make a new friend named Supzec. He said that he fought you before in the trial." Noob froze, his gaze distant as he tried to recall the memory. "Uh, well, he must've not been that good, since that name means nothing to me!"
"Okay, okay. Like, yeah." Evourai huffed, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth again. He glanced back to Noob as the latter laughed, boyish and free. He sucked in a breath, "um. Any- any, like, last piece of advice, I guess, you want to give me?" Evourai tilted his head, holding up his shield, which was in the pattern of Noob's left eye, a red star. "Before you head off?" He switched his grip to his mace. "Don't die," Noob said in response. "That's it! Don't die!" The guy said as he walked off, glancing back at Evourai a few times.
"Good luck, bro! I believe in you!" Evourai watched as Noob equiped an elytra and flew away, leaving a trail of smoke from the fireworks he used. Evo's scarlet eyes followed Noob's silhouette as he soared, uncertainty in his gaze. He glanced down. Was he really going to be okay without Noob by his side?
