Work Text:
People are easy, they feel silly and predictable emotions. If you're different you hide or are ostricized, if you lower your mask more of you always gets exposed than you planned for or mean for. To go into an interaction for the sake of it is silly. You only gain or lose when interacting with people, if you don't gain then someone else does.
That's the truth about humans, very few people realize this truth, and those who do would never say it out loud. I am one of these few, I only ever gain when I interact with others. My mask never slips, allowing it to slip would allow me to lose. If I constantly maintain a mask then I am in control at all times and I never lose.
All everyone else sees is the sweet girl Rosalie Hills, an innocent and calm girl who can do no wrong. This is my mask, this is my control over people. If I let people under my mask, I lose control over them. I don't need anyone close though, I've never had anyone close and see no reason to start. Love can't feel that great anyways can it?
My mask is total and seamless, I spend more time wearing it than I do acting genuinely, not like there's much of a real person under it anyways.
