Work Text:

Alphonse and Seth’s partner, Sugarboo, had headed out with Jessie to go pick up the pizzas we ordered for dinner. I had just gotten a… package earlier that day, and was really excited to show off.

Al and Seth… they’ve known for a while that I’m a trans guy — but I’ve spent a majority of the time just wearing sports bras instead of binding. They’ve known that. They’d offered to get me binders several times, but I’d sworn up and down I wanted to get one on my own with my own money.

Fast forward to now, staring at the crumpled white binder in my hand, sitting on my bed… yeah. I decide. Let’s do it.

I take my shirt off and my sports bra follows. I wear one of those stupid ones that zip in the front because then I can just put it on like a jacket.

I pick the binder up from where I’d tossed it on the bed to take my shirt off, and pull it on over my head like I’ve watched in videos. I adjust my chest properly until the binder fits comfortably and correctly. I take a deep breath to test that it doesn’t obstruct my breathing. I can take a deep breath without pain. Ok. Good.

I put my shirt back on, deciding I’m gonna go bother Al and Seth and see how long it takes them to realize.

I walk out of my room and find them watching some cooking show on the couch. Alphonse waves as I enter. Seth acknowledges me with a nod. Al pauses the show when I start talking.

“Sooo, guess what’s different!” I grin, flopping onto the other couch.

“Ya…. got a haircut?” Seth guessed.

“A haircut’s more obvious than that, Seth,” Alphonse elbows Seth, then adds; “Ya brushed your teeth?”

I throw a pillow at Alphonse, “I brush my teeth all the time, Al!”

Seth laughs and Alphonse makes an exaggerated pouty face, “Just tell us then, Charlie!”

I laugh, “Maybe a side view would help?” I rotate slightly on the couch.

Seth realizes first. His eyes go wide, “YOU’RE F L A T.” He yells, then laughs at himself for saying it like that.

Alphonse takes a minute to process, then his eyes widen too. “YOU GOT ONE??? FINALLY??”

I laugh, “I don’t know, did I?” I throw the other pillow at Alphonse, getting another fake-pouty face.

Jessie arrives just then with Sugarboo, two medium cheese pizzas for me and Sugarboo, a Hawaiian one for Alphonse — Seth called him a heretic for that — lovingly, I might add — and a sausage one for Seth.

Jessie gave me a knowing look but said nothing — and Sugarboo was blissfully unaware. Just as I liked it.

“Well, who wants pizza?” Jessie grinned.

“ME!”
