…………

A white marble mansion stood majestically across hundreds of acres of land. Tall iron fences rose around it as though separating the estate from the outside world—like a sealed kingdom that allowed no one to enter without permission.

The kingdom of the Kaiser family.

The oldest mafia family in Germany.

This mansion rarely opened its gates to outsiders. In this generation, there had only been two occasions when ordinary people were allowed to witness the empire of the great mafia family.

The first… when the new leader assumed his position—the blood oath ceremony of a young man who stood like a crownless emperor.

The second… a wedding. A marriage ceremony said to be the grandest of all—because it was the wedding of the family head and his fiancée.

Michael Kaiser, the Alpha leader of the Kaiser family.

And

Isagi Yoichi, the Omega who was his betrothed.

Soulmates destined by fate… the providence of true love.

An exquisitely tailored wedding suit. Blue rose arches that looked like something out of a dream. Beautiful music carefully composed for the two of them. Even a special blue wine prepared for the celebration.

Anyone who had attended that wedding said the same thing—

It was luxurious to the point of extravagance. A wedding so magnificent that no one could possibly recreate it, perfectly befitting the prestige of the Kaiser family. The couple themselves looked so perfectly matched that no one else could have been more suitable.

As if they had been born for each other.

Belonged to each other.

Wedding rings crafted from rare blue diamonds were carefully slipped onto the ring fingers of the two grooms. Vows of love spoken before witnesses. A sealing kiss pressed against each other’s lips like a sacred promise between life partners. Their gazes met, tender and overflowing with affection.

The whole world seemed filled with love.

Like a beautiful dream.

But no dream lasts forever.

Everyone must wake eventually.

He was no exception…

.
.
.

Morning arrived in the vast mansion. The butlers and maids all woke early to prepare everything perfectly before their masters awoke.

Even though the master of the house—the great boss of the family—rarely returned here, there was still another master living within these walls. Therefore, nothing could be allowed to fall short.

Blue eyes slowly fluttered open.

Because he had long been accustomed to waking early, his body naturally stirred awake. He shifted slightly, feeling the dull ache in his muscles. His gaze drifted to the other side of the bed where someone had been lying beside him the night before.

But now—

There was no sign of that person.

No lingering warmth.

He must have left a long time ago.

Slender fingers pushed his hair back as he rose from the bed. He narrowed his eyes slightly when he felt the sticky sensation along his thighs.

The smaller body was completely naked. Across pale skin were scattered marks—reddish spots, bite marks, and bruises.

The work of the one who had already left.

His husband.

Isagi Yoichi was an Omega.

Even so, he was not weak. In fact, he was stronger than many Alphas, earning the respect of all the Alphas within the mafia family. He possessed exceptional marksmanship and was skilled in several forms of combat.

Not once had he ever been the weakness of the mafia family’s leader.

Isagi stepped into the bathroom, showered, and emerged again wearing a bathrobe. Water droplets clung to his face, giving him a soft and delicate appearance.

Then his beautiful eyes narrowed slightly when they fell upon the document placed on the bedside table.

Divorce papers.

His blue eyes trembled faintly.

Every time Michael returned… their nights would always end in bed. They hardly spoke at all.

Fierce, heated sex. Their bodies tangled together as one.

But without love.

They had been married for almost four years now.

The first two years had been a sweet honeymoon. Both Isagi and Kaiser had married for love. They had known each other since childhood, understanding one another more than anyone else. They had always supported each other and stood side by side.

But… the year after that,

Michael changed.

And of course Isagi noticed.

Because he noticed, it hurt every time.

The reflection of himself within those beautiful blue eyes… slowly faded away. Little by little… until nothing of him remained.

Not in those eyes.

Nor in that heart.

His husband was a mafia leader, living surrounded by the stench of blood and constant power struggles. A world where one could not afford weakness for even a second. Not a single mistake was allowed.

And so…

What Michael longed for most

Was something pure and spotless—something that could soothe the darkness within him.

Something Isagi could no longer give.

He was no longer that innocent Omega. The world of the mafia had forced him to become stronger, so that he would never become a weakness, never become something enemies could exploit.

Michael had once praised him for that.

But now… he looked at him with disgust.

Isagi crushed the divorce papers in his hand and tossed them into the trash. Then he changed into a suit, preparing to go out and fulfill his duties.

The deep blue eyes that had looked sorrowful moments ago returned to their usual calm, unreadable expression.

He could not divorce yet.

But before long…

Perhaps it would be time to let go.

………

Isagi came downstairs for breakfast. The pheromone scent of Romanée wine lingered in the air, making his slender brows knit together—he hadn’t expected the other man to still be in the mansion.

Sharp eyes watched the smaller figure who was officially his spouse. A strikingly handsome face, a tall and powerful build, the overwhelming presence of a mafia boss—anyone who saw him would tremble in fear. The blue rose tattoo at his neck only added to his allure and dangerous charm, like a walking vault of pheromones.

Michael Kaiser’s very existence made people want to throw themselves into his arms, even knowing he already had a spouse.

“Good morning, Yoichi,” Kaiser greeted, smiling at his smaller husband. “You must’ve crushed that paper and thrown it away again.”

“Yes.” Isagi replied flatly, nodding for the maid to begin serving breakfast. Kaiser curled his lips into a crooked smile.

The person before him was still as captivating as ever.

But Kaiser no longer loved him.

Simply put, he didn’t love Yoichi anymore. He wanted a divorce—or at least to live separately. Of course, Kaiser wasn’t the kind of scum who would abandon the spouse who had endured hardship with him. He wanted things between them to end peacefully. He was willing to pay compensation, divide their assets fairly, and settle everything properly.

He just didn’t understand why Yoichi refused to divorce.

Still, he wouldn’t deny it—

He liked his husband’s body.

Sex with Yoichi was intoxicatingly intense, like a drug he couldn’t quit. Since the other man insisted on dragging things out and refusing to divorce easily, Kaiser decided he would play along with the game.

And see who would break first.

“I won’t be back for half a month,” Kaiser said casually. “If you decide to accept my conditions—or if there’s anything you want to demand—contact my secretary.”

He smiled teasingly as he placed food onto Isagi’s plate.

When the smaller man frowned and pushed it away, Kaiser paused for a moment.

That habit… still as irritating as ever.

In truth, Isagi hadn’t meant to provoke him. He simply felt dizzy and had little appetite, so he only drank tea and ate some fruit.

“There’ll be an executive meeting of the organization in a week,” Isagi said calmly. “I hope the boss won’t get so lost with his lover that he forgets his own responsibilities.”

Kaiser’s eyes narrowed slightly at that sentence.

He couldn’t explain it—

But he felt guilty.

Even so, Kaiser buried the feeling under a mocking smile, pretending nothing was wrong.

“Your informants work fast, Yoichi. As expected of you.”

Isagi let out a cold, sarcastic smile. His head throbbed faintly.

“Thank you for the compliment, Michael. You’re quite good at hiding things yourself… but you made one mistake.”

Isagi had once thought Kaiser fell out of love because perhaps they simply no longer fit together. Letting each other go might have preserved the relationship between two people who had known each other for so long—so they could at least still face each other without bitterness.

If that had been the case…

It would have been far better.

Better than learning that he had fallen out of love—

Because he loved someone else.

And the irony of it was almost laughable.

So laughable it hurt.

The day he discovered his husband no longer loved him…

Was the celebration of their third wedding anniversary.

Michael had acted completely normal that day, attentive just as always. They had dinner together, exchanged gifts, drank wine, and kissed sweetly like they always did.

But that night, Michael seemed to have something on his mind. He drank stronger wine than usual and kissed him with unusual intensity, stripping away their clothes, pressing their bodies together, their breaths merging into one.

And then he killed Isagi alive—

By whispering someone else’s name.

Holding him as though he were a substitute for another person.

Their third wedding anniversary.

That was the day Isagi Yoichi’s world collapsed.

He could only ask himself over and over if he had done something wrong. Had he failed as a spouse? Why had Michael taken someone else—and how long had it been going on?

He cried alone until he nearly died from it.

“Dan… Daniel, wasn’t it? That Omega of yours,” Isagi said, shaking off the memories. His beautiful blue eyes stared at Kaiser with open challenge.

That gaze made something inside Kaiser ache strangely, but he quickly brushed the feeling away.

“Yoichi…” Kaiser’s sharp eyes narrowed. The powerful pheromones of an Alpha pressed down heavily, suffocating and threatening to crush flesh and bone alike. His anger simmered, ready to explode.

“Don’t touch him. If even a single hair on his head is harmed, I’ll make you pay dearly for it.”

Isagi clenched his fists tightly, nails digging into his palms so the tears wouldn’t fall.

Ah…

It hurt so much.

As though invisible hands were squeezing his heart without mercy.

As though hundreds of needles were piercing his body.

A hollow wound tearing wider and wider.

He lifted his chin, refusing to let the man before him see his pain, and laughed weakly.

“Haha… how amusing, Michael. You’re threatening me for your lover? If that person of yours were truly pure and innocent, he wouldn’t be involved with someone else’s husband.”

“Shut up!” Kaiser snapped.

He didn’t even know what he was angry about anymore. But he hated that look in his spouse’s eyes.

“Don’t compare him to you, Yoichi. They’re nothing alike.”

“You’re acting like I’m the one in the wrong, Michael,” Isagi replied bitterly. “Even though you’re the one who cheated. Meanwhile your precious lover is so righteous and pure.”

“Yoichi!”

Kaiser’s pheromones surged violently, causing the glassware on the dining table to crack and shatter with a sharp crash. The glass beside Isagi shattered as well. Shards cut into his slender hand, drawing blood.

Kaiser froze.

He quickly withdrew his pheromones. Concern surged uncontrollably in his chest.

He hadn’t meant to hurt Yoichi.

But his irritation had spiraled out of control—he didn’t even know what he was truly angry about.

“Ah… I understand now,” Isagi murmured softly. His voice was cold as ice. He didn’t even glance at the blood running down his arm. The smaller man stood up and called for the maids to clean the mess.

“Maybe the next time you come back… my signature will already be on that paper you want so much, Michael.”

“Yoichi…” Kaiser reached out instinctively, only to clench his fist instead. The sight of blood dripping from Yoichi’s fingertips made something in his chest ache painfully.

He wanted the divorce papers.

That was true.

But why now—

Now that Yoichi seemed ready to sign them so easily—

Why did he suddenly feel like he didn’t want it?

The look in Yoichi’s eyes before he left made Kaiser’s chest tighten. His heart felt strangely hollow, the restless emotions inside him twisting into even deeper frustration.

His instincts were whispering something to him.

He was losing something incredibly important…

..........

Isagi let out a long sigh. His head throbbed and nausea churned in his stomach, but he still couldn’t go rest yet—there was far too much work left to deal with. Isagi was one of the executives of the mafia family. He had to carry out his duties properly so that no one could whisper behind his back that he had only obtained this position because he was Michael’s wife.

So Isagi headed to the mansion’s infirmary to have a doctor treat his wound.

The infirmary in this mansion was practically a miniature hospital. It was equipped with modern medical equipment and staffed with several highly skilled medical professionals.

Isagi raised an eyebrow when he sensed a refreshing scent in the air—like taking a walk by the seaside on a perfectly sunny day. He could almost hear the cry of seagulls and the waves hitting the shore.

It was a pheromone scent that brought an inexplicable sense of calm.

“Why are you here, Alex?” Isagi asked.

The person in question smiled brightly. The magenta-purple eyes that used to be cold softened into warmth and gentleness. Then his brows furrowed when he saw the blood on Isagi’s hand. He stepped closer, carefully holding the slender hand and turning it over to inspect it with concern. When he confirmed there were no glass shards embedded in the wound, he relaxed and guided Isagi to sit down.

“I came to pick up some vitamins,” he said. “What happened to your hand, Yoichi?”

“Clumsy mistake.” Isagi replied. “Weren’t you supposed to be on vacation?”

Isagi himself had signed off on the man’s two-week leave so he could handle some personal matters.

The listener laughed, then grabbed the first-aid supplies and began treating Isagi’s wound himself instead of letting the doctor do it. The real doctor could only stand there blinking in surprise.

Isagi shook his head slightly and simply let the other man take care of the wound.

Alex—

Or rather, Alexis Ness, their childhood friend.

He had once been Kaiser’s right hand, and eventually became Isagi’s as well.

“I came back earlier than planned,” Ness said softly as he treated the wound. As an Alpha with keen senses, he could easily detect Yoichi’s unease. But he chose not to ask about it—he didn’t want to cause the smaller man more pain.

“Ah… I’m glad you came back,” Isagi murmured.

“Um…” the doctor spoke up hesitantly. “Young master, is there something you’d like me to do?”

“Yes. I’d like a medical checkup,” Isagi replied. “Lately I’ve been getting dizzy often. I don’t have much appetite, and sometimes I feel nauseous.”

“Of course,” the doctor said kindly, preparing the equipment with practiced efficiency.

Meanwhile, Ness excused himself and stepped outside to give his superior some privacy.

He had returned earlier than his leave allowed.

Because he was worried about Yoichi.

Yes…

Alexis Ness had been in love with Isagi Yoichi for a very long time.

But he chose to step back, because he knew that the two people he respected most—Kaiser and Yoichi—loved each other.

Watching over Yoichi from afar and taking care of him quietly had been enough.

Of course he wanted to possess him.

But more than that…

He wanted the person he loved to be happy.

There was no way Ness hadn’t noticed that Yoichi hadn’t smiled from the heart for a long time now.

That beautiful smile—both eyes and lips shining with warmth—

It had disappeared.

And the reason…

Was Kaiser.

If Yoichi hadn’t asked him not to act, that Omega named Daniel would have been dead a long time ago.

Pretending to be innocent. Pretending to be naive. Acting that way because he knew Kaiser liked that type. Knowing full well Kaiser already had a spouse and still deliberately approaching him…

Did he really not realize?

That he was nothing more than a reflection of Yoichi from the past.

Ness had watched the two of them for years. Of course he knew the truth.

Kaiser had never fallen out of love with Yoichi. Not even once.

The man Ness respected was simply confused.

Lying to himself.

Sooner or later, Kaiser would realize—

That the person he loved most

Had always been Yoichi.

Ness waited for nearly an hour before Isagi finally walked out.

He gave him a wide smile.

“Do you want to rest first? You look pale, Yoichi.”

“It’s fine,” Isagi said. “There’s an important meeting today.”

Ness shook his head helplessly. When Yoichi decided to be stubborn, no one could stop him.

“Fine,” he sighed. “I’ll go with you. I’m your secretary and your right hand, after all.”

Isagi smiled softly and patted Ness on the shoulder.

“Thanks, Alex.”

When I feel lonely…

You’re always here.

You’ve always been here.

Thank you.

..........

“Haa…” Isagi sighed deeply, rubbing his temples as he leaned back against the chair. He loosened his tie slightly. He had just finished the meeting and finally had a moment to rest.

Executive meetings of the mafia family were never enjoyable.

Especially now, when outside enemies were challenging the family’s authority. One small mistake could not be allowed.

It was like being surrounded by a pack of hyenas, waiting to tear you apart the moment you slipped.

Even though he was an executive—and the boss’s spouse—Isagi was no exception to this rule.

To reach this position, Isagi had proven his abilities in every possible way.

So that he could stand beside Michael as an equal.

So that he would never become Michael’s weakness.

For the person he loved with all his heart.

It was one of his bad habits—

Whenever Isagi loved someone, he gave everything.

He lost himself completely in that love, pouring his whole heart into it without ever preparing himself for disappointment.

So when he realized he was no longer loved…

It felt no different from dying while still alive.

His phone rang.

Isagi reached over and answered it. The caller was the doctor who had examined him earlier that evening. He raised the phone to his ear and listened.

“Yes?”

“Um… there’s something important I need to inform you about. I apologize for disturbing your rest, young master.”

Isagi frowned slightly.

“It’s fine. What’s wrong, doctor?”

“Well… you are approximately five weeks pregnant.”

Isagi froze.

His eyes widened as his hand instinctively moved to his stomach. He inhaled slowly, forcing himself to stay calm.

Five weeks…

It must have been the last time Michael came home.

That night he had held Isagi in his arms the entire night.

And Isagi had been in heat.

“I… had sex with Michael just last night,” Isagi said. “Will that affect the baby?”

“No, it should be fine. From my examination, your health is strong. Sexual activity is still possible as normal. However, if you feel exhausted or weak, you should refrain for the time being. And if possible… try to avoid anything too rough or positions that put pressure on your abdomen. Pregnancy in male Omegas requires extra care.”

The doctor continued explaining, barely hiding his excitement.

“You may also experience emotional fluctuations. Some Omegas develop nesting instincts for safety. In such cases, I recommend asking the boss for support—his pheromones will help stabilize you.”

“If you’re available, I’d like you to come tomorrow or the day after to begin prenatal care and receive some basic guidance about pregnancy.”

Isagi exhaled slowly.

“Alright. I’ll come tomorrow morning.”

He paused before continuing coldly.

“And please keep this a secret. Don’t tell anyone—especially Michael. If this information leaks outside…”

“I can’t guarantee your safety.”

“Y-Yes… understood, young master.”

“Thank you.”

Isagi hung up.

His eyes were filled with worry—and pain.

He was carrying Michael’s child.

On the day the father wanted a divorce.

How ironic.

His slender hand gently stroked his stomach. The realization that a tiny life was growing there gave him strength he didn’t know he still had.

“It’s okay…”

“We can live just the two of us.”

Looks like…

It was truly time to let go.

Holding on served no purpose anymore.

And now—

He had another heart to protect.

.........

“Strange. I thought you said you wouldn’t be staying at the mansion for half a month, Michael.”

Isagi greeted the tall figure who had just walked into the room. He recognized him immediately by the pheromone scent alone.

“In case you forgot,” Kaiser replied coolly, “I own this mansion. I can come and go whenever I want.”

He walked toward the smaller man.

That’s what he said—

But only he knew the real reason he hadn’t left.

Because Alexis Ness had returned.

Kaiser knew Ness loved Yoichi.

And he just…

Didn’t want Yoichi and Ness together.

Even hearing reports that the two of them had dinner together made him uncomfortable.

Maybe because…

He was afraid Yoichi might smile at Ness.

The kind of smile

Kaiser hadn’t received in a long time.

“Oh… I suppose that’s true,” Isagi replied calmly.

He wondered silently—

If telling Michael about the pregnancy would change anything.

“Hey… Michael.”

“Hm?” Kaiser raised an eyebrow.

The tattooed arm wrapped around Isagi’s waist, pulling him closer. To Kaiser’s surprise, his smaller spouse leaned obediently against his chest.

Lately Yoichi had been like a cat with puffed-up fur, ready to lash out at any moment.

He rarely allowed Kaiser to touch him.

And…

He smiled less.

Of course Kaiser had noticed.

Even if he didn’t love him anymore, they had known each other for years—enduring countless hardships together.

There was no way he wouldn’t see it.

And he couldn’t deny that he was the cause.

Even now Kaiser was confused.

He didn’t understand his own feelings.

What did he actually want?

“Do you like him that much?” Isagi asked quietly.

Kaiser froze and looked down at the man in his arms.

Even though he had said so many cruel things earlier…

When faced with the question directly

He couldn’t answer.

Did he like Daniel?

He didn’t know.

Being with him simply felt peaceful.

It felt like escaping the filth and bloodstains he dealt with every day.

In the dark world of the mafia…

Daniel was like a small light.

His appearance, personality, atmosphere—

They were all like Yoichi from the past.

“You must like him a lot,” Isagi murmured softly. “Otherwise, when you held me… you wouldn’t have said his name.”

Kaiser’s eyes widened.

His arms tightened around Isagi.

He—

He had—

“That time… it hurt so much…” Isagi whispered.

“Mm—!”

A heated kiss crashed down, swallowing the rest of his words as if Kaiser could no longer bear to hear them.

The more he listened

The tighter his heart clenched.

Because I’m the one who hurt you.

I thought I had fallen out of love.

So why—

Why does it hurt this much now?

Your voice cuts deeper than a blade.

I want to apologize so badly.

But my pride and stubbornness won’t let the words leave my mouth.

Admitting it would mean defeat.

And seeing your tears…

Kaiser’s kiss softened, becoming gentle and tender, full of care.

Isagi closed his eyes, accepting the touch without resisting.

Tears slipped from the corners of his eyes, falling onto Kaiser.

You’re kissing me…

But whose heart are you kissing?

Michael…

When I press my ear against your chest

It hurts even more.

Because I know the answer.

Your heart…

No longer beats for me.

So it’s true, Michael.

You really have fallen out of love.

This may be the last kiss between us.

The wedding bells that once rang like a beautiful dream—

Had finally reached their end.

Wake up, Yoichi.

It’s time to wake up.

The next day, Isagi woke up after Kaiser. This time, however, he felt a little surprised because there was no divorce paper placed beside the bed like usual. The smaller man shook his head and got up to take a shower and change clothes, preparing himself to go see the doctor and attend another meeting.

Even if there was no divorce paper this time, it didn’t matter anymore.

With someone who didn’t even wear their wedding ring,

no matter how hard he tried, nothing would ever be the same again.

“Yoichi, are you inside? There’s an emergency!”

The anxious voice outside belonged to Ness. Isagi hurried over and opened the door immediately.

“What happened?”

“Our enemies’ family has joined forces and attacked one of our warehouses. The damage is considerable, but it’s been contained. However…”

“It’s not over yet,” Isagi continued, taking a deep breath. “Let’s go to the scene. And… does Michael know about this yet?”

Ness hesitated before answering with a lie.

“Not yet.”

He didn’t want Yoichi to know where Kaiser had gone.

If Yoichi knew, it would only hurt him.

Because Kaiser… had rushed out immediately after receiving a call from that Omega named Daniel.

Isagi narrowed his eyes, studying Ness carefully. But now wasn’t the time to press for the truth. There were more important matters to deal with.

“Bring the bodyguards with us. Someone must have betrayed us. Otherwise, how could those filthy sewer rats get in so easily?” Isagi grabbed his trusted gun and left together with Ness.

Within just a few minutes, they arrived at the important warehouse where the family stored its goods. Some of the bodyguards had already cleared the area, but traces of damage were still visible. His slender brows knitted together.

They used fire…

And they knew exactly where to burn to cause the most damage.

So there really was a traitor.

“We’ve captured a group of suspects. Yoichi, should we—” Ness removed his coat and draped it over Isagi’s shoulders when he felt the air growing colder. He didn’t want the smaller man to get sick.

“Bring them here. I’ll interrogate them myself.”

Ness gestured for the bodyguards to drag the traitors over. The condition of the four men could only be described as miserable, but none of them seemed the least bit shaken.

Thud!

Their bodies were shoved down at Isagi’s feet. Isagi smiled coldly.

Then—

“AAARGH!”

He stepped on the hand of the closest man before kicking the tip of his chin, forcing his head to snap backward. The smaller man lowered his gaze.

“Oh… so you’re from the intelligence unit.”

Isagi remembered every member of the family. Whether they were ordinary subordinates or high-ranking executives, he knew them all. He remembered who had done what, who had caused trouble.

These four belonged to the intelligence unit and had always performed their duties well. There had never been anything suspicious about them. They could even be called rather skilled spies.

But they were too normal.

That was why he had people keep an eye on them.

And just as he suspected—

“Ha… ha ha ha ha!” The man whose hand Isagi had stepped on and whose chin he had kicked suddenly burst out laughing, his voice sounding completely unhinged. Ness, standing beside Isagi, couldn’t stand it and stomped hard on his stomach again.

“What are you laughing at?!”

“Ha ha ha! You stupid-faced Omega! Everything you’re doing is completely pointless!”

“You bastard! Shut up!”

“Let him talk, Alex. I’m curious about what nonsense he’s going to spout too,” Isagi said.

This time, it wasn’t just words.

A chilling atmosphere spread across the entire area. An overwhelming aura radiated from the smaller man’s body.

Normally, Omega pheromones carried scents like flowers or sweets—sweet and enchanting, like a spell meant to lure people in.

But Isagi was different.

His pheromones smelled like snow.

Cold.

Oppressive.

So heavy it made people feel like they couldn’t breathe.

They pressed down arrogantly on everyone around. And now, with his eyes narrowed like this…

Those sharp blue eyes alone were enough to make people tremble without him doing anything at all.

At that moment, the man who had been secretly looking down on Isagi began trembling with fear.

This was—

The Omega who was the other master of the Kaiser family.

The Omega acknowledged by the entire family.

“Speak!”

“Y–Your husband… your husband… abandoned you.”

“Shut up!” Ness reacted instantly, kicking them before they could say anything else. He waved his hand for the bodyguards to drag them away. That was already enough to know who the traitor was.

Kaiser… I hope you open your eyes soon.

That Omega you think is so innocent and pure—

he’s involved in this too.

Isagi narrowed his eyes and stared at Ness silently, as if demanding an answer. He knew Alex was hiding something, ever since he had asked about Michael earlier.

“Alex… you know what he was going to say…”

Ness lowered his head. He didn’t speak, but when he saw the pleading look in Isagi’s eyes, he couldn’t harden his heart any longer. In the end, he sighed and told him what had happened.

“It seems that Daniel ran into some kind of trouble… judging from what those men let slip, this was probably part of their plan. That Daniel guy is definitely involved. Right now we should head back immediately, Yoichi. I’m worried this might be a trap to lure you out.”

Even though they had brought bodyguards with them, the current situation wasn’t trustworthy. They should return to the mansion as quickly as possible.

“Ah… mm…” Isagi nodded and bit his lip tightly, forcing himself to walk back to the car and return to the mansion.

But his feet felt heavy, as if weighed down by lead.

Every step was painful.

His heart ached sharply.

Ah…

So the reason you rushed out

was because of this.

“You told him what happened… and Michael must have told you to let me handle this myself…”

It hurt so much.

It hurt so badly.

The pain was so unbearable that even breathing felt painful.

As if blood were slowly seeping out from his heart, the wound growing larger and more ragged.

It hurt even more than when he first found out—

that you chose to protect someone else instead of me.

He had already thought that he had lost his importance.

But when he actually faced it…

Why did it hurt this much?
"Yoichi..." Ness clenched his fists tightly. He wanted nothing more than to pull the smaller frame into his arms and whisper that it was nothing, that everything would be alright, and that Kaiser would soon come to his senses.

Don't... look so pained.
Don't shatter like that.

No matter how much his heart agonized, Isagi couldn't let himself lose focus. He still had another life growing inside him. He had to prioritize his own safety, so he hurried back toward the car.

But...

Bang!

A bullet grazed his cheek by a mere fraction. If it weren't for his sharp senses and quick reflexes, it would have buried itself into his flesh!

They were being ambushed!

"Damn it!" Isagi cursed. His gaze snapped to a corner, and he fired his gun in a flash. His shot was deadly accurate. There was the heavy thud of someone plummeting from a high vantage point and crashing to the ground.

It was so precise and blindingly fast that even the sniper had missed their mark!

"Yoichi! Get in the car!" Ness drew his own weapon, shielding Isagi securely behind his back. Just a little further and they would reach the vehicle! "Protect Yoichi!"

Ness roared his orders, commanding the bodyguards to surround the smaller figure and escort him out of the firing line. He rained down bullets with lethal precision. His sharp magenta eyes narrowed as a frenzied Alpha pheromone erupted from his body.

Like a raging sea, suffocating everyone in its wake!

Isagi didn't just cower behind his protection, either. He helped the bodyguards shoot down their enemies, his other hand instinctively shielding his stomach. His heart pounded wildly against his ribs.

No matter what... we have to be safe!

Ness and the bodyguards successfully escorted their precious VIP to the vehicle. The Kaiser Famiglia's cars were equipped with the highest grade of bulletproof glass, and the tires were custom-made to be puncture-resistant. Inside the car was undeniably safer than out here.

Just a few more seconds and they would make it.

But...

Bang!

A mysterious gunshot rang out.
Just a single bullet...

Fired from behind, piercing right through their entire defensive line.

The small body collapsed, a spray of crimson blood splattering the air!

Blue eyes widened in absolute terror.

No...
No...

The bullet had been aimed straight at his heart, but Isagi had instinctively twisted away... The shot missed his heart but struck lower—dangerously close to his abdomen!

No...
Not like this.

Please...
God.

I'm begging you...
Please...

"Yoichi!"
"Yoichi!"

Bang! Bang!

Two voices screamed out. The first belonged to Ness, the second to Kaiser, who scrambled out of his newly arrived car. It was Kaiser who planted a bullet straight into the skull of the sniper who shot Yoichi, before sprinting toward his mate through the tight ring of bodyguards.

"Yoichi... don't fall asleep yet. Yoichi..." Ness's voice trembled. His hands were covered in the thick blood seeping from the smaller body. His sharp eyes wavered in helpless panic, trying desperately to keep calm enough to contact a doctor and an ambulance.

"Yo... Yoi...chi." Kaiser rushed over as well. Seeing those slender legs bathed in blood filled him with a sickening premonition. And right before Isagi lost consciousness, the blue eyes that looked up at Kaiser were filled with nothing but pure, unadulterated hatred.

That was the exact moment the great Mafia boss realized...
He had lost the most important thing in his life!

........

The brazen challenge against the Kaiser Famiglia was swiftly and brutally concluded. The head of the family led his forces to personally wipe out their enemies. Every undercover mole was dragged out into the light and died an agonizing death. Every mafia family, big or small, that stood against Kaiser was entirely eradicated.

In just one night... blood pooled everywhere, as if a torrential storm of madness had swept through.
Hundreds of corpses were offered as sacrifices.

Even Daniel... the Omega that Kaiser had once been infatuated with...
Was executed at Kaiser's very feet, his corpse mutilated beyond recognition!

Because that man had intentionally lured Kaiser away and hired the hitmen to shoot Yoichi. It didn't matter that he wept until he cried tears of blood, clinging to Kaiser's legs and begging, claiming he did it all out of love, out of jealousy, because he wanted Kaiser all to himself.

It was as if he knew... that Kaiser had only gone out there to end their relationship.

Yes... Kaiser had gone out for exactly that reason. He had spent the whole night asking himself repeatedly if he had truly fallen out of love with Yoichi. Once he was certain of the answer, he wanted to make amends. He rushed out to meet Daniel—which coincidentally happened right when the other called for help.

Kaiser wasn't stupid. Sensing something was off, he brought his most elite bodyguards with him. When Daniel tried to stall for time, Kaiser's anxiety for his mate flared up, and he immediately rushed back.

But... it was all too late.
He had lost absolutely everything.

Kaiser stood frozen in front of the hospital room, refusing to step inside. The surgery to extract the bullet had been a success. After observing him for any complications and finding none, the doctor had Yoichi moved to a VIP suite. The tall, once-majestic figure was now entirely consumed by exhaustion.

Only after waiting for the doctor's confirmation that his mate was safe did Kaiser lead his men to annihilate their enemies. He returned straight back here to keep watch without resting, completely neglecting his own well-being.

Every passing second crushed his heart... terrified that something else might happen to Yoichi.

Now that Yoichi was awake, he was even more terrified to step inside. The hand gripping the doorknob trembled. He pushed the door open just a crack, but couldn't bring himself to open it fully... couldn't go in, couldn't face him.

His sharp eyes peered through the gap, seeing the small figure he yearned for finally awake. It looked as though he was slowly processing his own thoughts.

And the very next second, Kaiser heard a laugh.

"Ha... haha!" Isagi laughed maniacally. The moment he opened his eyes, he didn't need anyone to tell him what had happened to him. Flashes of the chaotic events replayed endlessly in his mind. A slender hand lifted to stroke his own stomach; the hand trembled, looking completely devoid of strength.

How could he not know? How could he not feel it?
His absolute worst nightmare had come true...

"My baby..." Isagi whispered, his voice so utterly broken it sounded as if he were dying. It was a fragile breath of a sound, like a desperate plea to God that all of this was just a nightmare. "My baby..."

No... they were no longer there.
Gone...

"Hic..." He bit his own lip until it hurt, sobbing until his entire body convulsed. Kaiser, watching from outside, felt just as much agony. His hand gripped the doorknob so hard his veins popped. His eyes burned fiercely.

The moment the family doctor told him Yoichi had miscarried...
He had widened his eyes in horror, collapsing to his knees on the floor, completely broken.

It hurt worse than...
Being buried alive.

If even he felt this destroyed... then what about Yoichi? Just how agonizing must it be for Yoichi?

"Hic... no... not like this..." Isagi's voice trembled even harder. Those blue eyes were utterly hollow and fractured beyond repair.

Shattering over and over again.
Pieced back together only to be shattered once more.

Again.
And again.

If having a heart meant enduring such agonizing, fatal pain...
Then it would be better... for humans to have no heart at all.

"I'm sorry... Papa is sorry... hic... I'm sorry." Slender hands stroked his own stomach, whispering apologies over and over. His voice sounded so incredibly, agonizingly pained. Tears streamed down his cheeks without end.

Crying... as if he were weeping tears of blood.

I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I'm sorry I was too weak and couldn't let you open your eyes to see this world. I'm sorry for being weak and worthless... I'm sorry...

He had dreamed... such happy dreams.

Dreams of naming his child himself, of buying piles of baby name books. Whether a boy or a girl, this child would have a bilingual name, both German and Japanese. After the divorce, he was going to travel to Japan to give birth, buy a small house, and plant trees and flowers all over the place.

Holding those tiny hands.
Cooking for them, buying them toys, taking them to school, taking them to the amusement park.

But...

"Hic..."

They were gone.

His baby... was dead.
Without even getting the chance to open their eyes to the world.

It was as if all of his happiness had been ripped away, tearing all the light and color from his world along with it.

Ah... it hurts so much.
Why does it have to be this agonizing?

"Just wait a little bit," Isagi uttered in a fragile, weightless voice. And the very next sentence made Kaiser throw the door open and rush inside in sheer terror.
"Maybe soon... Papa will follow you."

"Yoichi," Kaiser called out, and when Isagi glanced back at him, his blood ran cold.

Those blue eyes were dull, devoid of any spark, and could almost be called lifeless.

The great Mafia boss was at a complete loss. In the end, he could only manage a single sentence. "I... I'm sorry."

An apology that used to be so incredibly hard to say. His ego, his pride—none of it mattered anymore.
If it were any normal time, hearing an apology from Kaiser would have made Isagi surprised and overjoyed. But now, he felt absolutely nothing. It was all just... empty.

Silence descended between the two of them for several minutes. Neither spoke. It was a suffocating silence, heavy with sorrow.

"The divorce papers... you can bring them to me now."

Kaiser clenched his fists. He softly called out his little mate's name, "Yoichi..."

"I want a divorce. Don't worry, I won't take a single thing from your family. I will leave quietly. You can tell your entire Famiglia that I'm no longer qualified to be your mate. I just ask for one thing... let's never see each other again."

"Don't do this, Yoichi... please..." Kaiser pleaded, his voice laced with a begging tone he had never used with anyone before.

The arrogant, prideful Mafia boss threw away his dignity and absolutely everything else.

I'm begging you, pleading with you.
Don't leave me.

Give me a chance to make amends. Let me take care of you.

Isagi stared at Kaiser blankly. "Kaiser... I've lost my baby. The baby I wanted to take such good care of. Even if he only had me as a father, I was going to give him all of my love. But..."

Kaiser clenched his hands tightly, his nails digging into his palms, but he didn't feel a thing. The more he listened, the more agonizing it became... Yoichi had been planning to leave him all along. Right... I was the one constantly pestering him for a divorce.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry... I'm just as devastated as you are... that was my child too..."

"Are you sure about that?" Isagi gave a mocking sneer. "If I had told you back then that I was pregnant... I know exactly what would have happened... Kaiser."

The pronoun shifted. Distant. Cold. Drawing a line and building a massive wall.
Going from calling him 'Michael' so intimately, to only addressing him by his last name.

Because that Omega who loved Kaiser with all his heart...
Who devoted absolutely everything to him... died that night.

Died along with a shattered heart.

The Isagi Yoichi right now... was nothing more than a wind-up doll.

Waiting for its battery to run out.
Waiting to wither and fade away.

"If I had told you back then that I was pregnant... what kind of question would I have gotten in return, Kaiser?" He curled his lips into a smile, a self-deprecating, bitter smile.

A smile... that sliced into Kaiser's heart like a knife.
Slashing it repeatedly until it became a gaping wound.

"You would have asked me if it was really yours, wouldn't you? That a slutty Omega like me probably spread my legs for anyone and everyone, only to claim the bastard was yours..."

"Yoichi..." Kaiser interrupted, shaking his head. His voice was laced with pure agony, but Isagi didn't listen and continued speaking.

"Ah... or..."
"Yoichi! That's enough!"

Please... don't say another word.

I'm sorry...
Darling... I'm so incredibly sorry.

"Don't touch me!" Isagi slapped Kaiser's hand away, his blue eyes narrowing.

He was utterly repulsed by Kaiser's touch!

"Why are you getting mad, Kaiser? You used to say things like that right to my face all the time. You treated me like I was just a doll to vent your lust on, a stupid wife clinging to a marriage certificate. You wanted me to divorce you every single day and night. You'd come back and hold me, but moan your lover's name. And before you left, you'd leave the divorce papers out every single time..."

"Yoichi... please... don't say anymore..." Kaiser begged, the edges of his eyes burning hot.

It was pure, unadulterated torture.

Every single thing he had done in the past was coming back to bite him.
Reinforcing just how incredibly lucky he had been to be loved by Yoichi.

And just how much of a monster he was to destroy that loving heart with his own two hands.

"You can't bear to hear it? But I had to listen to it for a whole year. I lived with those feelings for a year... while you frolicked around with your pure, innocent little lover. Cherishing him so much you wouldn't even let me touch him with my words. Telling me he was ten, a hundred times better than me... I was already planning to leave you. I had my baby... I had a life I was ready to spend the rest of my days protecting and caring for. But... but... hic..." Isagi's voice shook as tears streamed down his cheeks once more. "But my baby... is gone... they're gone..."

Right then, Isagi thought... if Kaiser had chosen him.
If he had chosen to come to him instead of going to someone else, would his baby have had a chance to survive? Would this loss have even happened?

Even though he knew it wasn't entirely Kaiser's fault...
But...
But...

"Hic... It hurts so much, Kaiser. I'm in so much agony I feel like I'm dying alive. Why... hic... waah!"

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry, Yoichi." Kaiser pulled the small frame into a tight embrace, letting the smaller boy sob against his chest, pounding his fists against him as he cried. While Kaiser himself...

Also shed tears of his own...

"Michael Kaiser... I hate you. I hate you so much that even if you knelt or died right in front of me, I would never, ever forgive you!"

"I'm sorry, Yoichi." Kaiser could only mutter apologies over and over again.

"I hate you! I hate you!"

"I... I'm sorry... darling... I'm sorry."

He used to think he had fallen out of love...

But
He never did.

His heart had never once stopped loving Yoichi.

The day he realized he still loved him just the same, loved him even more than before...
Was the day he lost Yoichi forever, with no point of return.

"Hic... You don't... you don't need to apologize. Because I... will never... I will never forgive you!"

"Darling... Yoichi. You don't have to forgive me... just hate me."

Because I... hate myself too.

They both wept from the loss.
Embracing each other in tears.

Like this was their very last embrace.

This fracture... could never be mended again.

Marriage... is sometimes like a tragedy of love.
Not the end, but rather the prelude to a brand new theatrical act.

As time passed,
The theater of dreams seemed to come to an end.

Marriage
Was therefore nothing but the ruins of a life.

The only things left behind

Were tear stains.
Were pure agony.

And a gaping wound that would never fade away.
