Daiki was unfortunately the lightest sleeper of the bunch so they were awoken when they heard someone crying. It wasn't very loud weeping but still enough crying to wake them up. “Who's crying?” They whispered and sat up in bed.
“Oh……Daiki. Sorry I didn't expect anyone to hear me.” Natsumi figured she was being quiet enough not to wake any of her partners.
“Don't apologize, why are you upset? Are you having bad dreams about Tsukasa again?”
“No.” She sniffled and decided to get out of bed. “I'm going to get a drink. Again sorry for waking you Daiki.” Not really answering them completely she took off to go downstairs.
Daiki decided to follow after her to make sure she was okay and also wanted to know what had upset her. If it wasn't about Tsukasa, then it meant it had to involve them or Yusuke this time.
Natsumi had gone off to the kitchen to make herself some tea, it would make her feel better after her bad nightmare. Daiki showed up soon after and she asked them. “Why did you follow me?”
“To make sure my girlfriend is okay obviously. I know you've had upsetting dreams before, but not like this. Crying in the middle of the night. What happened?”
“Can I have my tea first before I get into it?”
“Alright. I'll wait at the table then.” Daiki left the kitchen and sat down at one of the tables they all typically sat together.
It didn't take Natsumi long to make up her drink. She appeared shortly after Daiki sat down and sat next to them, cup in head. She took a sip of her hot tea before putting it down on the table. “It was about Yusuke this time. Yusuke and your brother. He had him kidnapped again but this time it was worse.” Getting upset again she picked up her cup of tea and drank more.
“I see. Whatever my brother did in your dream I'd never let that happen to Yusuke.” They wanted to protect the smaller bug rider too much like Tsukasa. Even more so if it involved their own sibling that wanted to hurt someone Daiki had grown to care about.
“It was awful. There was so much blood. Junichi was trying to have the amadam cut out of Yusuke.” Natsumi started to cry again, so much for the tea helping.
Daiki understood why she was so upset now. That would most likely kill Yusuke if their brother or anyone else took the amadam from his body. They gently placed a hand on Natsumi's shoulder. “Yusuke is going to be fine Natsumi. He has all us too look out for him and he's aware my brother isn't trustworthy.”
“I really hope so.”
“Our bug is safe with all of us.” Daiki wasn't just saying all this to make Natsumi feel better, they truly meant it. Yusuke had three powerful people who cared about him. Also more control over his own most powerful form. It wouldn't be as easy for Junichi to get him again.
Natsumi finished her tea and then moved off her chair to sit in Daiki's lap. She wrapped her arms around their shoulders to hug them. “Thank you Daiki. I feel a bit better and less worried.”
“Oh….uh good.” Affection like this was still awkward for them but didn't push Natsumi off them. They easily would have done that before when they were just getting closer to everyone but just accepted now. “We should get back to bed.”
“Okay.” Natsumi kissed their cheek before getting off of them. “I'm glad to have you here more often, Daiki.”
“Yeah well, someone has to make sure you all don't starve.”
Natsumi smiled, because she knew Daiki did truly care about all of them. Even if sometimes they tried to act like they didn't.
