A brand new hand as a gift to be given
“And so, I made you this!”
Tech presented his gift for Echo. The brand new and shiny prosthetic hand Tech hoped Echo would appreciate more than always relying on the scomp hand he was still using.
“A gift, for me, Tech?”
“Yes, well, I mean, your scomp is really good for many things I know to be true. But I thought you could use a real hand. For other things, when not on a mission.”
Realising his double entendre, there Tech corrected himself. “I mean, a more familiar appendix.”
Echo could only smirk at the slight blush on Tech having thought he made a small booboo.“Looks really great, Tech! But what of my scomp? I am going to miss it for sure.” Echo having gotten used the the mechanical hand and guess, feeling a tad nostalgic about it too. The hand having gotten them out of so many situations during the war and then after too.
“You can keep them both. This new one, is a detectable one. See…”
Tech quickly made the adjustments on Echo himself on his datapad, showcasing the idea behind the new hand. Then taking the scomp off before attaching the artificial new hand into its place.
“See, just plug and play. And it has several settings and…” Tech already deep in the technobabble, enthusiastic to show Echo all the new functions of his gift.
Again, Echo could not help the smile widely as Tech was just filled with puns and all today he most likely did not even realise.
Echo then tried the new hand out, wiggling and stretching and griping with it. It felt… strange and yet, familiar as well.
“Feels… good.”
Tech looked happy as did Echo. After all, this was a very thoughtful gift and there wasn’t as much need for the scomp these days as it had been in the past.
Hunter arrived there just then, seeing the gift in place, already aware of Tech’s idea of a surprise for Echo.
“Looking good, Echo!” Hunter smirked pointing at the new hand on the smiling ARC.
Echo still in awe of the new appendix realised something.
“Thanks Tech! This is very much appreciated!”
Echo then leaned in as he gave Tech a peck on his cheek, seeing the blush there once again on his friend’s face, before rushing out suddenly.
“You did a good thing there, Tech!”
“Thanks, Hunter. It was time for Echo to get a replacement.”

As it was, Echo could not wait to show this new hand to Fives.
“Hey there handsome!” Fives greets Echo, seeing Echo was exited and practically rushing to their rooms. “What’s ya hiding in there then, eh?” Echo having his hand behind his back as he entered.
“This!” The hand pooped out, all shiny and new, as Echo moved it around.
“Oh! Wow!” Fives too being in awe of the new appendix.
“Yeah, Tech made it for me.”
“Looks really fancy!”
“Well, it should be… And it has various settings too.” Echo blushed suddenly, thinking of all the possibilities his new hand could do…
Fives too was having a coy smirk on then, as an idea was forming as well…
“Should we, um, test it out then, eh love? I mean it’s new and should be tested right, broken in I mean?”
“Sounds like a perfect plan there, sweetie!”
The two giggled and headed to their bedroom. Ready to do some on the spot handy calibration with for the new appendix of Echo’s.
After all it needed to be done just in case the hand needed to be recalibrated before their next op.
