Jon Sims - Once Upon A Fear (In London)

Summary:

This is not exactly a fic, it's a cover for The Mechanisms' 'Rose Red' in which I changed the lyrics to be about The Magnus Archives (starring Jon as Rose), which I'd say still classifies as 'fannish' enough to warrant being on this site (who knows, maybe the crew somehow witnessed the events in TMA and is singing about them).

Notes:

I did this 4 years ago with no understanding of music or meter, re-discovered it today still with no understanding of music or meter, slightly modified two lines, and decided to post it because fuck it we ball.

Also English is not my first language, so there's that.

(also also, if by any chance anyone wants to record this feel free, just tag me/let me know, I wanna listen to it! :D)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

[JONNY D'VILLE & TOY SOLDIER]

Jon, Jon, Jon Sims
Will you ever marry me?
I will marry at thy will, yes,
at thy will

Knock-knock, knock-knock,
Horrors coming at your door
Make thy statement on a web covered tape
On a web covered tape

[TOY SOLDIER]

Jon, Jon, Jon Sims
He's recorded and he's seen
Been marked by all fourteen fears
He brought on the Eyepocalypse

[JONNY D'VILLE]

Let's get to smite, let's get to smite!
Hunt down Jonah and end his freight
All we know is endless fear
And a web covered tape

[TOY SOLDIER]

Jon, Jon, Jon Sims
Eternity will see him free
Always throwing out his life
As another sacrifice

[JONNY D'VILLE]

Time for murder, time for murder!
Turn myself into this world's martyr
Have that as our epitaph
On our web covered tape

[Instrumental break]

[JONNY D'VILLE & TOY SOLDIER]

Jon, Jon, Jon Sims
Will you ever marry me?
I will marry at thy will, yes,
at thy will

Knock-knock, knock-knock,
Horrors coming at your door
Make thy statement on a web covered tape
On a web covered tape

Notes:

I am aware 'statement' has one syllable too many to properly fit in that line, but it is what it is, if professional songwriters can make it so you have to sing only half the word for it to work, so can I. I personally pronounce it something like 'staymt', almost like you wanted to say 'stain(e)d', if that helps.
