Thank you for reading! I don’t own any of Harry Potter! Please let me know if you enjoy!

“Don’t you think this is a bit much, Lily?” Severus asked as he watched his wife hang the fifteenth bundle of dried flowers he had helped her arrange across the mantle of their hearth.
“Oh, don’t be so glum, Sev.” Lily chided him with a gentle smile, “It’s Harry’s first spring. I want it to be special for him!”
“He’s barely eight months old.” Severus sniffed, “He’s certain not to remember any of this.”
“Maybe not, but I want him to smile even so.” Lily laughed, “Is that so very terrible of me?”
She walked over to where her husband stood in the living room and laid her hands gently on his chest as she looked into his pale face.
Her soft fingers moved carefully over the thick fabric of his black robes.
As he gazed down at her, his black stare widened in fascination at the allure he found in her emerald eyes.
“……..You could never be terrible, my love.” He whispered as he bent down and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.
Lily laughed again as she lovingly returned his affection before she pulled back and cuddled against his chest while her arms wound around what they could reach of his shoulders.
“I’m so glad the first day of the season is on a Saturday this year.” Lily smiled as she looked pulled back to steal another kiss from his lips, “You’ll be able to spend the whole day with us!”
Severus happily accepted his gift as his tapered fingers splayed across her slender waist.
At only twenty-one years old, had been proudly hired as the youngest Potions Master in Hogwarts history, determined to provide for his little family.
Some may have thought that Severus and Lily had rushed through their youth to marry mere months after graduation and welcome their first son, Harry, hardly two years later.
Severus would have disagreed.
After all, he had loved his darling Lily since the first day they had met as children, on the riverbank behind their houses.

Early the next morning, Severus blinked his bleary eyes open as he heard the bed creak while the mattress shifted underneath him.
He turned his head to watch Lily stand and pull her robe around her shoulders as the sound of a familiar, needy cry caught his attention.
“WWWWWAAAAA!”
As Lily padded out of the room, Severus was on his feet in an instant, trailing behind her down the hallway after he grabbed his warm, black cloak.
“WWWAAAAAAAA!”
“You didn’t have to get up too, Sev.” Lily smiled tiredly as she glanced over her shoulder at her beloved while she bent to collect their crying baby from his cot.
With Lily at home and Severus having just begun his teaching career a few months ago, the Snapes had little money, which only paid for a small flat.
In Harry’s nursery, the cot nearly touched all four walls, leaving scarcely any room to stand, let alone move around.
Severus furrowed his brow in awe as he watched his two darlings.
Lily’s crimson tresses were tousled from sleep although her brilliant, green eyes shone brightly in spite of her fatigue.
Baby Harry’s black tufts of silky hair betrayed his heritage.
He earned a loving smile from his mother for the way he curled into an awkward little ball on her chest.
“…….Didn’t the midwife say he should have stopped doing that by now?” Severus asked.
“He will when he’s ready.” Lily smiled patiently as Harry whined against her chest, bunching what he could grab of her robe into his little fist.
“Perhaps we should schedule another visit…..one with a healer…..to check his progress…….and confirm everything’s……moving adequately.” Severus frowned.
“He’s fine, Sev.” Lily chuckled as she slowly walked out of the tiny nursery and into the living room to settle herself on the sofa, “Our Harry’s doing just fine.”
Severus frowned in devoted concern as he came to sit behind Lily.
He chivalrously let her lay back on his chest as he wrapped his cloak around them both to guard his small family from the early morning chill.
His black eyes watched carefully as Lily exposed her plump breast for Harry and guided him to find what he cried for, after which he finally let go of her robe.
“We’re going to have a lovely day, sweetheart.” Lily cooed to their baby, “Daddy’s with us…..we’ll sit by the fire and read stories together this morning, then we’ll go outside and look at the blooms…...Mummy and Daddy will do all that we can to make your first spring special.”
Severus nuzzled his wife as she spoke and breathed in the gentle scent of her perfumed hair.
“I love you, Sev.” Lily whispered as she looked over and gently met Severus’s lips with hers.
“You are my world, Lily.” He whispered back, his deep voice a husky rumble.
“…….You and our son.” He added.
Some time later, Harry let go of his mother and cuddled against her as she kissed his father once more.
Severus had never known a loving family growing up, only the cold of winter and the ache of a growling stomach.
Lily had brought light, laugher, and hope into his dark world.
Once their kiss ended, Severus’s black eyes flickered to their infant son.
His son, his wife……..no longer did Severus have to drift through life alone.
At last, he had somewhere he belonged.
