Fanart for “Retribution for my incessant taking”

Summary:

The title really says it all.

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

A two part drawing with Es. On the right side, they’re gripping Shidou’s shoulder (the rest of him is offscreen) tightly, with an angry expression and shouting. Then in the left side, their grip isn’t as tight and they have a more worried expression.

A drawing of Shidou with hypothetical T1 guilty injuries, the most notable ones being a black eye, a bandaged head injury and a bruise on his jaw. He looks completely terrified, his pupil unfocused and his mouth hanging open, visible puffs of breath coming out.

Frustrated, Es grabs him by the shoulders of his cape, pulling him to face them.

Shidou freezes up.

"Shidou, listen to me. You can't die now. You have to live, and I will judge you fairly to the best of my ability. Do you hear me?"

They shake him slightly. He doesn't respond.

(A hand grabbing his collar, a boot on his knee)

"I've told you before. Your existence itself is a sacrilege to Milgram. Your lack of attachment to life. All of it."

(A crack in his knees. A crack in his skull. The pain that was all he could feel)

"If you face those you've killed with a life you'd so willingly throw away… you're not giving them anything at all."

(It hurt. It all hurt. He was going to die)

(But that was a good thing, wasn't it? He shouldn't be scared. He shouldn't.)

"…Shidou?"

His breathing had become shaky, and there was a look in his eyes that they never thought they'd see on him.

Fear.

This was my favorite scene, so I had to draw it to help me get through creative block.

Notes:

I am very sorry for not updating febuwhump, the last 2 weeks have been full of exams and I kinda lost motivation. But worry not, I’ll finish it, and I will post some chapters tomorrow.

On a completely unrelated note, I am very excited for Camouflage, but I’m also not ready…
