Work Text:
hyunjin meant to be cleaning he really did, but when he turned on music like this he could help but dance, swaying to the beat and spinning around drinking up the rhythm of the music.
eyes closed he puts little to no thought into his moves, letting his body do whatever it wants as he begins humming to the song
not too long after he hears soft footsteps and feels a hand holding his own and he knows exactly who it is, opening his eyes to find his fiancé and intertwining their fingers together, continuing to dance with him early in the morning as the sun rises, indicating they'll both have to get ready for work soon.
“good morning angel” he says leaning in for a kiss as they continue moving to the music together.
jeongin doesn't question hyunjins mood as he melts into the kiss while the sun paints the sky beautiful shades of yellow and orange behind them, he pulls away and turns around to look at it with hyunjin and leans into the olders side appreciating moments like this, savoring it because he knows they'll have to get ready for the day soon.
“baby don't forget the lunch i made for you it's in the fridge okay? i love you have a good day” hyunjin hugs jeongin before he leaves for work, hyunjin thankfully doesn't have to start for another hour and a half and honestly being self employed is amazing because if he really wanted he didn't even have to work today, but he’ll always choose to wake up early to spend more time with jeongin even if it's just the time spent getting ready for the day.
when hyunjin gets a break from his own work in the middle of the day he texts jeongin asking if he'd like to go shopping with him later. they needed fruit and hyunjin could use a refill of a few of his oil paints as well but shopping (along with everything else) was always better when he did it with jeongin.
hyunjin hears when jeongin gets home because well, the walls in their house weren’t the thickest and he could also slightly feel the rumble of the garage door from his makeshift studio which was really just an extra room the house came with that he ended up turning into his work space.
he walks out into the kitchen prepared to pepper jeongin in kisses only to find him looking exhausted.
“oh love what happened?” he asks holding jeongins face in his hands, concerned about the younger since he knew his work could get difficult sometimes.
“the kids were just super hectic today” is all jeongin says leaning into hyunjins hold, wrapping his arms around him as hyunjin guides his head to his chest and kisses the top of his head rocking them back and fourth.
“the kids” meant jenongins kindergarten class, they were a couple of months into the new school year meaning they'd been doing more activities since the holidays would be coming up soon and the little kiddos were getting more energetic.
“that's okay angel i understand, do you still want to go shopping with me?” he asks and he already knows the answer but he just needs confirmation from jeongin.
the younger shakes his head no and hyunjin doesn't mind, he had those days too. the ones where he felt burnt out from painting all day or even the days that he had art block.
he gives jeongin a kiss bidding him goodbye and watches as he walks down the hall to the bedroom shutting the door softly behind him.
hyunjin opens the notes app on his phone to make a quick list of the things they need and grabs his keys from the bowl, walking out to the car and mentally noting that he should wash the little fox keychain dangling from the ring of his keys.
while he's out he spots a few things that aren't exactly on his list but he knows they would cheer up his fiancé so he buys them along with the needed groceries.
when he makes it to the art store to grab materials for painting he spots a jewelry store and decides to stop in there as well before he heads back home.
“yen-ah im home!” hyunjin calls out, setting some grocery bags on their counter and dropping his keys back into their bowl in the corner.
hyunjin was excited to show jeongin what he'd bought from the store in hopes that it would cheer up jeongin but it seemed like he might be asleep. jeongin usually comes out of their room when he hears that hyunjin is home, quick to greet him but right now he doesn't hear a single footstep.
he opts on quietly putting away their groceries in the case that the younger is asleep and he puts jeongins gifts in a separate bag from everything else before making his way down the hall to their shared bedroom.
slowly opening the door hyunjin peeks inside and sees that his lover is indeed asleep.
god every time hyunjin thinks he can't fall more in love with jeongin he does. it seems jeongin didn't even mean to fall asleep seeing as he has his phone in his hand but now his head is resting on the jumbo fox plush hyunjin got him a few years ago for their very first year anniversary.
he smiles fondly and shuffles over to the bed, setting the grocery bag at the end and brushing jeongins hair out of his face.
he simply stares for a while admiring his lover, god how did hyunjin get so lucky. jeongin looked like an angel he's the most beautiful thing in the entire world and hyunjin can say that with full confidence.
not only that but jeongin is so pure, he takes walks in the park with hyunjin and goes on picnics with him, does things he never imagined anyone would do with him. they often lay in the grass staring up at the clouds and imagining the different animals their shapes could be.
he takes care of hyunjin when he's sick and remembers all the little things about him. things that hyunjin didn't think were even important, things that hyunjin had only told him maybe one time but jeongin remembered them anyway.
he knew that hyunjin didn't like eggplants, he knew that hyunjin loves art and has loved it since he was young, he knows that despite the act he caught him in this morning hyunjin doesn't to it much anymore he used to love dance. he knows everything about him and that's the most endearing thing about him.
he caresses jeongins cheek and leaves a soft kiss on it, pulling back and smiling when jeongin mumbles softly. he leans down for another, and another, leaving kisses all over his face again and again until jeongin finally stirs awake.
“hi my angel, im sorry to wake you from your sleep but i brought you something from the store” hyunjin explains, raking his fingers through the youngers hair.
his heart melts when jeongin slowly blinks rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and wrapping his arms around hyunjins neck. he lets himself fall forward into his fiancés hold and nuzzles into the olders neck pressing a few kisses to his skin.
this is everything hyunjin could've ever wished for, he feels undeserving of jeongins love sometimes but the younger will always reassure him that he wouldn't want to be with anyone else.
he would move stars for jeongin if he could, he'd hang the moon and create new constellations for the younger if it meant spending time looking at them together.
“got me somethin’?” jeongin reiterates after a yawn, looking up at hyunjin with his now glassy doe eyes. hyunjin leans down to peck him on the lips
“yes my love” he pauses turning around to reach for the bag at the end of the bed to hand to jeongin who's begun to whine at the lack of contact.
“i'm here angel i'm here” he reassures, resting a hand on jeongins thigh as he opens the bag looking at the contents inside.
his eyes widen when he pulls out a velvet box, he looks up at hyunjin and back down at the box as he opens it revealing a pair amethyst earrings. “jinnie…” he trails off admiring the jewelry.
hyunjin got them for him because jeongin had mentioned wanting earrings with his birth stone on them a week ago and when hyunjin saw the jewelry store across from the art store he couldn't resist walking in.
jeongin sniffles and looks back up at hyunjin, tears rolling down his face now. “these are happy tears right aegi?” hyunjin questions just to be sure.
“very hic- happy” he replies tossing himself back into hyunjins hold, letting the older caress him.
“love, there's some more things in there why don't you take a look yeah?” he reminds jeongin, taking his face in both of his hands and making him look at hyunjin as he wipes away his tears.
jeongin rustles through the bag and pulls out a fox plush that's wearing a strawberry hat along with a bouquet of roses.
“another one?” he giggles bringing a hand up to wipe at the dampness on his cheeks.
“you can never have too many?” hyunjin tries, laughing along with jeongin. “there's some chocolate in the kitchen too, i know you had a rough day so i hope this can cheer you up” he pecks jeongin on the lips again.
“anything you do cheers me up jinnie, but this really made me feel extra happy” he replies, getting up from the bed to find a vase to put the roses in.
“i'll take care of it honey why don't you go back to sleep? i'll join you in a bit and when we wake up we can order some dinner how does that sound?” hyunjin holds jeongins hands in his own as he proposes the plan.
“okay” jeongin simply agrees, watching hyunjin walk out of their room with the roses in hand. he changes out of his jeans and button up shirt to be more comfortable, looking through hyunjins clothes instead of his own.
hyunjin comes back to the room in the middle of jeongin putting his sweat pants on and his heart skips a beat when he sees that the younger has opted on wearing his hoodie.
“i love how you look in my clothes, like you're made for them” hyunjin walks up to him resting both hands on either side of jeongins hips.
“you like how i look in everything” jeongin argues as he brings a hand up to play with the hair in the back of hyunjins head
“and nothing” hyunjin teases pulling away to change his clothes as well. he settles on a tank top and his lazy day sweatpants and snuggles up to jeongin under the covers, opening his arms for the younger to squeeze himself as close as he can get.
hyunjin is the first to wake back up from their nap and instead of jeongin being cuddled into his side like before, he's almost completely on top of hyunjins chest.
one leg is attempting to wrap around hyunjins torso and his face is squished to hyunjins chest while his arms wrap around the older.
things like this are one of hyunjins favorite parts about being with jeongin. one of the things that pushed him to propose, he loves waking up with jeongin like this and he'll do it for the rest of his life so long as he's able to.
he's not really able to move the majority of his body but he slowly reaches an arm over to the bedside table to grab his phone and check the time.
it was only 8pm which means that they definitely still have a lot of options on what to eat for food. hyunjins not sure what jeongin is up for but he's particularly craving some pizza so he'll have to ask jeongin what he wants when he wakes up.
for now he watches the younger as he sleeps, his body rising and falling along with his breaths. his body unconsciously moves, almost like it's trying to merge and become one with hyunjins.
he doesn't mind it one bit, he wraps both arms around jeongin and gently rearranges the other so that he's completely on top of hyunjin and his body seems content at that because it stops moving and jeongin rubs his cheek into hyunjins chest, letting out a content sigh as he goes back to his regular breathing.
hyunjin thinks back to when they met all those years ago, they were both still in high school and it was through other people that he'd met jeongin. hyunjin had been pretty close with felix and felix ended up dating chan which led to felix and hyunjin hanging out with chans friend group because at the time felix was all hyunjin had and chan didn't want him to be alone.
chans friend group consisted of jisung (and by association minho) and changbin, changbin a few months later had started dating seungmin and seungmin knew jeongin. that's how hyunjin ended up meeting him, rethinking it sounds confusing but it all felt natural at the time.
hyunjin was confused back then about how seungmin even knew jeongin if he was in the year below them but seungmin had told him that they were both in choir together which made a lot more sense.
over the course of the rest of their high school years hyunjin and jeongin had gotten pretty close, close enough to the point that hyunjin would pick up the younger on the way to school and drive him back home after.
they'd snuck out together a few times as well when they had more of a situationship going on. hyunjin remembers they'd go out to get fast food since it was the only thing available and they'd sit in the parking lot and just talk until one of them determined they'd been gone too long and should probably head back home unless they wanted to get caught.
they started dating in hyunjins senior year and he remembers jeongin being devastated that he was leaving, he held him while he cried about not being able to see hyunjin every day and that's when hyunjin knew he was in love.
now seven years later they're going to be getting married next may and hyunjin wouldn't want it any other way, jeongin is the most perfect human being to exist and he thanks the universe for letting life play out like this.
about 30 minutes later hyunjin thinks he might fall back asleep when jeongin begins stirring awake, pushing his body off of hyunjins as to be able to sit up on the bed.
“sleep well?” hyunjin asks staring up at the younger with a soft smile. jeongin smiles back and opens his arms before falling forward on top of hyunjin once more, hugging him in the process.
“m hungry” is all he says, and when hyunjin laughs jeongins body moves along with it. “i'll order some pizza is that good?” he feels jeongin nod into his neck.
he pulls out his phone searching for the food delivery app and begins to place the order when he feels jeongin starting to leave a hickey on his neck.
“angel…” he warns one time, submitting the order and grabbing jeongin by the back of the neck to pull him away when he doesn't stop.
hyunjin can't even jokingly scold him when he sees the younger looking at him with his big pouty eyes.
“we've promised eternal love to each other already don't you remember? can't you let me have this one thing” he knows exactly what jeongin is trying to do and it's working because instead of even responding hyunjin just guides his head back to the spot jeongin was working on.
“you make me crazy yang jeongin” he says attempting to hold back a groan.
jeongin pulls away for a moment “s’ gonna be hwang jeongin soon” he reminds and hyunjin can't resist kissing the younger.
jeongin is the one who deepens it but when he tries to pull away for air hyunjin chases to get his lips back on the youngers again.
they stay like that for god knows how long but it's long enough that the only reason they're pulling away now is because of the doorbell ringing.
hyunjin is glad that he makes it to the door after the delivery person must've left because he knows he probably looks a mess with his hair tangled up and lid lips swollen.
he comes back to the dining room and opens the box of pizza before pouring soda into each of their cups
hyunjin wouldn't change his life for the world, nothing could ever compare to the way he feels when he's with jeongin, he's completely and utterly obsessed with him. he's the first thing he thinks of when he wakes up and his last thought before bed, nearly everything reminds him of jeongin and he gets excited about each new day even if there's nothing special to it simply because he knows he'll wake up with his love once again.
hyunjin likes to believe he knows every little thing about the younger, he knows that he wanted to be a priest when he was younger, knows about the short lived phase he had where he wanted to be a singer, hence why he was in choir.
he (and only he) knows about the moles on jeongins thighs and the marks he's left there. he knows about jeongins small little habits that he might not even notice, the little things like how he touches his ears when he gets nervous or how he prefers acts of service over tangible gifts.
it's the little domestic moments like this that reignite the obsession because in moments like this he wants to keep jeongin all to himself, sometimes he wishes he could mark up jeongin the way he marks up hyunjin. unfortunately unless jeongin quits his job (which isn't likely) he'll have to settle for leaving marks in places only he can see.
“whatcha thinkin about?” jeongin asks taking the last bite of his pizza.
“just us…im so grateful for you yen-ah i can't imagine my life without you in it. you feel like a blessing from the universe i don't even know what i did to deserve it” he feels like crying, that's how deep his love for jeongin is.
if hyunjin was able to, he'd crawl inside of jeongins ribcage and create a home to stay there forever, he loves him so much it's almost too much for his heart sometimes but he'll continue to love jeongin until the day that he dies and even in the afterlife he'll watch over the younger, he'll become his guardian angel.
“oh jin, how many times do i have to tell you that you do deserve this, you do so much for me you're so good to me you deserve me as much as i deserve you” jeongin says walking over to hyunjin and making him stand up so that he can hug him.
they stand still and silent for a few moments until jeongin pulls away, kissing hyunjin and beginning to gather up their used dishes and clean up the table.
hyunjin trails behind him like a newborn puppy wanting to be near him at all times and when jeongin finishes they head to the bathroom to shower and start their nightly routine.
hyunjin turns on the shower while jeongin sets out their skincare for later and they both undress, getting in the shower together.
hyunjin takes his time washing jeongins hair, lathering the shampoo into his scalp and massaging it around for longer than he needs to simple because jeongin looks adorable with his eyes closed as he hums like a cat purring and letting hyunjin do whatever he needs to.
he moves on to his own hair and when he's finished he rinses jeongins shampoo out and starts on conditioner, repeating the same steps until they both have no more soap in their hair.
they finish the rest of their shower quickly after that and change into actual pajamas instead of the hoodie and tank top they wore earlier to nap in.
hyunjin grabs jeongin by the back of his thighs lifting him up onto the counter to stand between his legs and do his skincare for him.
when they'd first started living together jeongin always questioned why hyunjin insisted on doing everything for him and hyunjin didn't admit it till months later but he told the younger that he enjoyed doing things like washing his hair or doing his skincare because he felt that jeongin should be treated like a prince, no less than.
if hyunjin could he would do everything for jeongin, but unfortunately he can't so he has to settle for this, he also has come to enjoy staring at jeongin while he rubs in the moisturizer and face wash, always comparing his features to a fox.
as they finished up they made their way back to their room, making sure they had their things prepared for the new day to come.
getting into bed hyunjin wraps jeongin in his arms and gives him a kiss on the head falling asleep with a whispered promise of eternal love, just as he'd done the day he proposed.
hyunjin couldn't wait to marry jeongin, sealing their promise to be together for the rest of their lives, he couldn't wait to wake up with jeongin in his arms once again and do it all over again.
