Chapter Text
The spiky grass feels soft in a way against the skin of the two girls spread out on the green ground, their faces towards to the navy blue night sky filled with yellow shimmering stars all around them as Marion's white collar light shines a faint neon green.
Yuri glanced at the girl next to her almost seemingly trapped in a trance by the stars, her purple irises mixing perfectly with the bright yellow light from the stars.
Her eyes moved along with her head to look back at the sage staring at her. Yuri quickly turned her head away from Marion to look back at the night sky, embarrassed. Marion did the same, yet didn't show embarrassment on her face as she looked back at the stars.
Stars were so interesting to Marion, she always wondered why they shimmered so bright in this horrid world full of darkness and suffering.
..Yet she never dared to utter the question out loud to her guardian and kept it to herself. Moments passed in silence the air thick with unsolved feelings for each other. Yuri noticed this and decided to lighten the mood.
"You seem so wowed by the sky, you know? Do you like stars?" The raven-haired girl asked in an amused tone, her eyes still captivated on the bright orbs in the sky. Marion was quiet for a few moments her gaze flicked onto the other girl before replying.
"..Yeah, I think they're cool." She murmured as she looked back at the shining sky, her voice coming out a little more vulnerable than she'd like it to be.
Yuri slowly moved her hand to hers to intertwined their fingers together. She waited a minute before smiling warmly to Marion as she didn't pull away.
Marion was a tad taken aback. She knew Yuri could be touchy at times but this felt more intimate than what she's done in the past.
"I like stars too, they remind me of you, Mari.." Yuri admitted, her gaze breaking straight through the Marion’s emotionless facade. Marion's lips formed into a slight smile.
'What is this warm feeling..?' she questioned quietly her collar color changed into a yellow color, as she looked back into the irises of sage green burning right into her beating heart, making it skip a beat.
'I.. suppose this is okay.' Marion thought to herself as the two continued staring into each other's eyes in comfortable silence. Yuri was the first to break the intense gaze exchanged between them just a second ago.
She closed her eyes just before she brought Marion's hand to her chest. Marion's eyes widened, this behavior from Yuri was a little unusual. But she decided to take the lead and guided the sleepy girl to the bottom of a nearby tree.
Marion sat down at the tree's trunk and patted the grass next to her, although the other girl had different plans. She climbed onto Mari's lap, hugging her body. Marion was surprised at first but let her cuddle her regardless, plus sleep driven Yuri didn't really care at the moment if this crossed the line of platonic or seemed romantic to others.
Mari wrapped her arms around the other's body and closed her eyes, embracing the quiet moment. She looked up at Marion after a few minutes, admiring how relaxed and beautiful her face looked against the soft faint glow of the night sky. She waited a few moments, making sure the other didn't hear before saying "Tu es ravissante, ma chère..." she whispered.
While Yuri didn't want her to hear, she still had the faintest desire that had Marion heard her. Even if Mari didn't know what she said, Yuri still had hoped she did a bit. After that, the brunette nuzzled against the other girl's warm body and fell asleep quietly in the arms of her little crush. (Or perhaps more in the future? We'll see...)
Flashbacks to earlier that day
It was lunchtime for the small humans and as usual they got their food and sat down at their assigned seats at the lunch tables. Luckily, Yuri is sat with her entire friend group at a table. She was determined to spend more time with her dear friend Marion, since she always had guitar practice.. The lunch room was chattery overall, but not too loud or they would tell us to quiet down and such. but anyways! Onto the point.
Today was Yuri and Mari's quality bonding day! Yuri took a seat next to Marion, (like usual) with excited grin plastered onto her face. Mari glanced at her with curious eyes on why she was so happy today. Yuri took one singular bite of her food before asking her awaited question.
"Hey Mari, wanna hang out later today?" she asked, tapping her utensil on the table as if mimicking a drum. "Uhh.." The girl gave it a little thought before replying back. "Sure. I'll meet up with you at the stump in the garden after my guitar recital, okay?" Mari said after brushing small strands of hair away from her face gently. The others were mostly eating but some chattered as well, including them.
After lunch everyone went to do whatever they needed to do or chores and stuff Yuri didn't care that much since she had free time in her schedule today to enjoy and could play around as much as she wanted to with the others. And she did just that, playing games of hide and seek, tag, and the occasional stealing of a couple alien fruits for food and just for fun to get chased around by that old wrinkly alien lady.
Laughing as she hid with a light brown skinned kid with blond messy hair behind some furniture, snickering quietly, her shoulders moving up and down in stifled laughter as the old alien looked for them just so she can scold them and get her fruits back the messy blonde stifled his giggle as well, his hand over his mouth so he doesn't make a sound.
As the fun laid-back day ended, Yuri was tired from this, but looked forwards to the promising bonding with her friend. She waited at the stump, sitting on it and kicking her feet as the minutes flew by and Marion was no where to be found. Yuri was about to give up when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned and smiled at the bluenette standing there. Usually people would get startled by Mari's quiet tap but Yuri knew Mari long enough to get used to it. She found it endearing, really.
Yuri took her hand and dragged to the soft patch of grass she found beforehand. She sat on the grass and looked up at Marion to signal her to next as well. Marion did as silently told and sat on the patch on grass next to her, the other girl turned to her. "So how was guitar practice?" she asked, wanting to know more about Mari's day. "It was alright, I learned more about the notes and got a couple notes right.." Mari rambled, as the brunette listened intently to her words.
"Ahhh... you're way more productive than me, that's for sure... I've been playing around all day!" Yuri complained as she flopped down onto the grass dramatically in attempted to make Mari smile. Marion's lips tugged at the corners slightly. "Oh really now?" She asked amused at Yuri's behavior. Yuri flopped an arm over her eyelids in mock stress,
"Ugh, yes! I felt bad since you have to practice all the time.." She joked but said the last part with a genuine tone. Marion's chuckled, "Don't go worrying all day for me now, it's for my good anyways." She said politely as she patted Yuri's head softly to reassure her.
Yuri pulled her body down and wrapped her arm around her upper body as she leaned forward into her warm body. "Don't overworking yourself, okay ma ange?.." She muttered, her voice filled with concern as she placed her chin on her shoulder. Mari, stunned stayed in silence for a moment before moving again.
Mari patted her back hesitantly, not so used to this type of behavior from others. "I promise I won't overwork myself for you." The other replied calmly her emotionless demeanor fading into a softened one as she held her body against hers savoring the contact, as if she'll never feel it again. Little did she know, it was the last touch she'll get from Yuri.
