Eleanor’s POV- At the party.
My whole body is lighter than a feather, my heart is beating out of my chest and my lips still have the memory of Gabbi. I wish the moment had never ended, but Gabbi said she was busy and had to leave early, it sucks that we couldn’t spend more time together considering it’s my birthday. My stomach drops as I realise I haven’t responded to Drea.
I hear a sound, a whisper and I was shocked to find a surprise party waiting for me. Later at the party I had been with Gabbi in my bedroom just making out and giggling as we talked about life. I obviously had to go down at some point and I let Gabbi chill in my room listening to some of music on my record player.
My heart drops when I see Drea.
After the fight with Drea I step back into the house taking deep breaths and forcing a smile so nobody would ask me what was wrong, that’s when I see Gabbi. She doesn’t look happy. “Gabbi… Did you over hear that?” I see a small nod “I’m sorry, Drea is-“
“Yeah I know Drea… And I love my brother, but you know he leaked that video…” I hate that look. Her eyes are filled with tears which refuse to spill. My face turns hostile. I know I only look angry, but it’s angry or cry, I don’t know if I can cry in front of her yet. I’m not allowed to show weakness. I need to be strong.
“You said some pretty messed up stuff out there.” Every muscle in my body tenses. Not in the way I was told by Dr Gratch. Not in the intense muscle relaxation way, where each muscle takes turn before it tenses. It was sharp. All over. I try and focus on my breathing each new word Gabbi says echos in my skull.
I manage to force out the words “It’s complicated.” I want to scream and shake her, tell her Drea deserves it. That there’s a method to my madness, but i’m not in control of my body anymore. I’m an outsider looking in. I told her that I wanted to tell her everything. God damnit I should have.
“Hey, I guess we solved the mystery on Eleanor though, right…” She smiles pitifully. I wish the ground would swallow me up.
“This isn’t your armour anymore, it’s just you.” I feel like I can’t breathe. I want to react but each twitch of my muscle became out of my control minutes ago.
“Fuck I can’t believe I was wrong… Happy Birthday though. See you around.” And just like that she’s gone. I want to run after her, scream and cry and beg for her to just listen to me. Instead I just stare at her as she walks deeper into the house.
By the time I regain control of my body all I can do is rip off my stupid “Birthday Girl” headband and bang my head against the wall. I know I can’t get her back. And it’s all Drea’s fault.
I wasn’t going to go through with the revenge plan. But now she kamikaze into my party, I knew she deserved everything that was coming for her.
I walk to my room and lock the door. My parents arrive home soon enough and kick everyone out. Olivia is on my dressing table.
“I’ve ruined everything with Gabbi. And it’s all Drea’s fault. I just wish that girl would stop ruining my life! She deserves to pay for everything she’s done.”
Just then I smile as the revenge plan pans out perfectly. It feels like everything in my life was leading me to this moment. Drea ruining my chances with Gabbi was my final straw. I already had everything planned out with Gabbi. Every date. I already knew her favourite kind of flower, I was going to buy them tomorrow. I hate Drea. I hate everyone. No one deserves happiness. And especially not Drea.
