Cygnus Patrick Malfoy

Summary:

The Age Line placed around the Goblet of Fire was superfluous; the Goblet would never allow an underage Magical to be picked as a Champion even if it had been enchanted. The Enchantments on the artifact force the Goblet, however, to fix a mistake and reveal the truth about Harry Potter, who was attending Hogwarts.

Notes:

I do not own Harry Potter or its characters; I am just using them for fun.

This story is a sort of alternate universe to the Original Cygnus Potter story I posted a few years ago with some key differences, such as when Harry is found to be Cygnus, the age Cygnus is, Draco and 'Harry' having older siblings, and most importantly is that while Dumbles is still bad in this story there will be no sexual abuse of minors that he performs. I also don't plan on having Harry/Cygnus being Asexual as he was in the first story, but due to how old he really is, he is not interested in things like that.

Chapter 1: Cleansing by fire

Chapter Text

"I know some of you are disappointed for not being selected as your school's Champion. But that does not mean you all don't play an important part in the Tournament. I want you to cheer for your Champions during each task, even if the Champion you cheer for is not from your school," Albus said, giving the gathered students a wink as he kept an eye on the Goblet of Fire. This was not right, according to his sorces one of Riddle's people should have been here and placed 'Harry's name into the Goblet of Fire to force the boy to com[ete in the tournament. The Goblet, at least, was still lit, meaning that 'Harry's' name should be shooting out anytime now, hence why Albus was bullshiting all this stuff to give the Goblet time to work.

He knew that the enchantments he had placed on the brat were active, as shown last year when exposed to the Dementors, 'Harry' had blacked out and experienced the death of the Potters rather than, say, his kidnapping. Albus wondered if the Goblet was trying to get a read on the boy's Core, which Albus knew was strong enough to compete since he had cast the enchantments on the brat's Core himself due to how young the boy really was before Albus had forced him to drink Aging Potions to make him the same age as Harry was when the Dursleys killed Albus's original weapon.

Albus breathed a sigh of relief as the Goblet began to rock back and forth on its pedestal and the flames inside went haywire, meaning the Goblet was finally going to shoot some parchment to make 'Harry' become the Fourth Champion and compete all to bring back Riddle. Yet after rocking back and forth for a few minutes and attracting the attention of everyone in the hall, the flames in the Goblet shot out and formed 'NO' in the air above the cup. Albus was not the only one who was confused, as everyone in the hall stared at the flaming letters before they merged and zoomed into the air.

Several students screamed in fear as the line of blue flames shot into the air before arching down right onto Harry Potter's form. Several people gasped as Harry let out a blood-curdling scream of pain as the blue magical flames engulfed his body. Several older Gryffindors and even Ravenclaws sitting close by cast the Aguamenti Charm on him, but the water did not even reach the magical flames. Soon the Four Heads of House, Bagman, Crouch, Mad-Eye, and Madam Pomfrey all rushed over trying to put out the flames, but just like the students thier attempts to do so were unsuccessful.

Albus could only watch in a growing panic, his hands gripping the edges of his Eagle-based podium so hard his fingers were white as the magical flames, which were still connected to the Goblet of Fire, started shifting as they lifted the screaming boy off the bench he had been sitting on until he was floating in the air a few inches over the table. Being able to see 'Harry's full body, Albus noticed that despite it being engulfed in the magical flames, the boy was not being burned. Though he was screaming in pain, there did not appear to be any harm being done to him.

As none of the staff or students had been able to stop the flames, the entire hall just watched in a worried state, even the three students chosen as Champions had returned to the hall, their mouths falling open in shocked horror at what was going on. As the entire hall focused on 'Harry,' Albus began to hear some people begin to talk to each other.

"Is it just me, or does Harry look smaller, somehow?" someone asked as the clothing on the boy began to look a little baggy.

"What is happening to his hair?" another asked as the boy's normally wild and messy hair seemed to become straighter, though remaining the same length.

"His face is changing," another pointed out as 'Harry's cheeks became less rounded and a little sharper.

"He does appear to be shrinking," someone said as the glasses that 'Harry' was wearing slipped off his nose and fell onto the Gryffindor table.

"They're not even hot," Hermione said as she cautiously tapped the glasses before lifting them with her bare hand.

Seeing Hermione hold the glasses, Ron reached up trying to touch Harry, but was unable to touch him. "It's not hot?!" he reported and even showed those around him his palm, which was perfectly fine.

Getting an idea, Albus aimed his wand at the brat and cast a summoning charm, hoping to get the boy out of the magical flames. Yet rather than the boy getting free or Albus being pulled towards him, the Headmaster was blasted backwards with a wave of magic as he was thrown into the wall. There were gasp of shock seeing Dumbledore thrown into the wall mere inches from the bottom of the windows behind the Headmaster's podium. As those who had followed the old man being blasted into the wall turned back to Harry, they saw the flames around him were dying down as 'Harry' was lowered to the floor between the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw tables.

"His hair?" was shouted around the hall as the once messy dark brown rats nest was gone an in its place was a mane of long blonde hair.

"I don't feel too good," 'Harry' said before collapsing and would have ended up in a heap on the floor if he had not been caught by McGonigal.

Snape, seeing that just like several people had noticed, Potter had shrunk during his time in the flames, used his wand to shrink the boy's clothing rather than having it fall off his now smaller form. McGonagall gave him a nod of thanks as she hurried to the room where the Champions had been told to go, followed by Madam Pomfrey to check to make sure Harry was alright. Cedric, Fleur, and Viktor moved out of the way as the Deputy Headmistress and the School's Medi-Witch came in, laying Harry on the floor. Madam Pomfrey wasted no time in casting the most powerful Diagonstic Charm she could on the young boy, hoping he was alright. McGonagall, on the other hand, began to use magic to create screens around Harry to give him some privacy from the three Champions as the Matron worked.

Both women goggled as the results of Madam Pomfrey's spell began to print out of her wand. Madam Pomfrey kicked herself a little since she had cast a spell that would print out any relevant health data since the last time such a spell had been cast on the boy. Yet the printout was more than a few months of data that showed that Harry had not gone to the yearly check-up that Albus told her that Harry had at St. Mungos, rather than having her do it during the first week of classes. Hell, the printout was longer than several years' worth of information. After a full five feet of parchment had been released from her wand, the results were finished as the end of it fell to the floor with the rest of the parchment creating a small puddle of paper.

Madam Pomfrey reached down, seeing that the very last item on the document, in other words, the first thing to have happened to Harry, stated that Harry had been scanned shortly after his birth by Narcissa Malfoy. While Poppy knew that Lady Malfoy worked in the children's department at St. Mungos, she had no idea the Healer helped deliver babies. As Poppy began to pull up the document to reach the top and the most recent things to happen to Harry, she had another thought. While five feet long was rather more parchment than was normally produced by the spell that she had cast, it was rather short for a fourteen-year-old when the first, earliest item on the document was getting scanned after their birth.

Finally reached the top of the document, Poppy started to read about what had just happened to Harry in the Great Hall. "No, that is not possible," she began to mutter to herself as she rolled out the document to read further.

"What's not possible?" Minerva asked.

"It seems that the flames from the Goblet did not hurt Harry, but somehow performed a cleansing on him," Madam Pomfrey said without looking up.

"A Cleansing?" Minerva asked, her eyebrows shooting up in surprise.

"Yes, it removed a large quantity of Ageing Potion that had been in his system, removed some enchantments strengthening his core, and even altered his memories, or I should say removed memories that were not his to begin with," Poppy explained, still going over the document.

"Ageing Potion, how old is he really?" Minerva asked, thinking of the various students who had tried to bypass Albus's Age Line by using Ageing Potions.

"Give me a moment," Pomfrey said, her face paling as she began to read of some of the abuse Harry had received from his Muggle Family. "He has been on them for a while," she reported, not finding the first time Harry had used the Ageing Potion. To find out when he had first taken them, as well as focus on something other than the abuse that had been done to Harry, Madam Pomfrey tapped the parchment with her wand to activate a search function for Harry using the Ageing Potion.

The parchment began to unroll itself as her spell located the times Harry had been exposed to the Ageing Potion. There were only two listed items in the entire document: the one at the top saying the potion had been cleansed from his body, while the second one was near the end of the document. In fact, it was the fourth item from the bottom of the page. It seemed that after Harry had been scanned shortly after birth by Lady Malfoy, he had been placed under a stasis spell for some reason, his core had been strengthened, and before he had been given Ageing Potions to make him five years older than he was. After the Ageing Potions had been administered, the staiss spell had been removed before he had memories implanted in his mind belonging to Harry Potter.

"That makes no sense," Poppy said as she began to scratch her head. Why would anyone make Harry receive the memories of himself? Wait, if he had been aged up, he could not be the real Harry Potter. Since Harry had only been one at the time that You-Know-Who attacked the Potters. His surviving the attack would have been listed before he had been put into stasis for some reason. And unless whatever the reason was for him to be put into stasis to correct kept him in it for years, it was another sign that whoever this was was not Harry Potter. After all, if the memories placed in his head were a fake childhood as he was healed from living through the Killing Curse, the document would have stated that was the case, not that the memories belonged to Harry Potter.

While she had cast a Diagonostic Charm on 'Harry' to get all this, Poppy used her wand to perform a Family Line test on the boy.

Reading the results of the Family Line test on the young boy, Madam Pomfry's mouth fell open in shock. Rather than share the results with Minerva, Poppy pocketed the family line test and the earlier document as she gathered the young boy into her arms and rushed out of the room. Nearly bowling over Albus as the man, along with Crouch, Bagman, and the two visiting Headsteachers talked to the Champions about the tournament. She barely offered the Headmaster an apology as he glared at her, or so she thought while he was really glaring at Cygnus unconsoise in her arms.

Madam Pomfrey did not stop until she was back in the Hospital Wing, as she placed Cygnus on a bed before using her wand to cast a Patronus spell to summon the boy's older brother to the wing. Not knowing if perchance the rest of the Malfoys might have also been enchanted to not recall Cygnus being born, she just had Draco come to the wing. After sending her pengquin patronus to find the older boy, Madam Pomfrey used some Floo Powder to create a connection to St. Mungo's. She was grateful that Lady Malfoy worked at the Magical Hospital since it was the only place the floo in the wing could normally reach.

"Madam Pomfrey, what is the issue?" the Welcome Wizard manning the Floo asked as she stuck her head through.

"I need you to inform Healer Malfoy to bring not only her husband but her eldest children to Hogwarts right away," Madam Pomfrey said.

"Is there an issue regarding young Draco?" the Welcome Wizard asked while writing the message to send to Narcissa.

"Not really, but I need to see the entire family as soon as possible," Poppy said as she pulled her head out of the fireplace to end the Floo Call just in case Draco had shown up yet. She got it just in time, for as she stood back up, the fourth-year Slytherin entered the room.

"You wanted to see me, Madam Pomfrey?" Draco asked, looking over at Cygnus, still unconscious, on the only occupied bed in the room.

"I did, Mr Malfoy, and it has to do with him," Poppy said, walking over to the bed and having Draco join her.

"Potter... that is Potter, right? I could not get a good view of him when the flames vanished," Draco said, looking down in shock at his school rival.

"Yes and no, Mr Malfoy. Yes, this is who we all believed to be Harry Potter, but according to some test I ran on him after he was released from the flames, his real identity is something quite different. Tell me, does the name Cygnus Patrick mean anything to you?" she asked, seeing the fourth year start before his body became rather rigid.

"How do you know that name?" Draco asked his tone dropping several octaves.

"I take it you do know it," she said, not answering his question.

"Know it. Of course, I know it, no one in my family would forget it," Draco said, his body beginning to shake a little as if he was fighting back, unleashing some tears or a bout of anger.

"Can you tell me about it?" she asked as she pulled out the results of the first test she had run on Cygnus earlier.

Draco seemed to gather his strength before he actually answered her question, which actually surprised her a little that he was so willing to do it. She thought that maybe he wanted to unburden himself or share it with someone. "Due to the last war, my mom was informed that she could not give birth to any more kids after I was born. But when I was around six years old, one of my parents' friends told them about some Muggle method which might allow her to have more kids. They decided to test it out, and my mom was able to get pregnant with my baby brother.

As they had followed the Muggle method during the entirety of her pregnancy, she gave birth in a Muggle Hopsital. Only Dad and I were there since Delilha and Orion were in their second and first year, respectively," Draco said with a small chuckle. This made Poppy smile as well, recalling the strange events of the Malfoy twins' schooling. As they were born hours apart, they were born on different days, which unfortunately fell around the cutoff point for attending Hogwarts. So despite being twins, Delihla had been in the year ahead of Orion while they attended Hogwarts.

"The Muggle Doctors, you know the name they call their Healers, were shocked by my baby brother. Not only did he have the pure blonde hair of my family already, but he was born with vivid green eyes. One of the nurses, their Medi-Magicals, joked that Cygnus's eyes were green due to being born on their holiday of St Patrick's Day, which led to my parents choosing Patrick as his middle name.

After the Muggles left us, my Mom cast a spell on him to make sure he was alright, making her smile since her spell detected a Core, meaning that he had not been born a Squib due to Muggle procedures that had been needed for my mother to become pregnant with him. It seems that in Muggle hospitals, sometimes a baby is removed from the room to allow the parents some rest, unlike how it is done in our world, where the baby is kept close to help them get accustomed to their parents' magic. I only know this since one day when dad was checking in at his office, and I was getting my assignments for my pre-Hogwarts lessons, mom fell asleep, leading them to remove Cygnus from the room."

"I see, so your baby brother did not fully bond with the family magic?" Madam Pomfrey asked, wondering if that was why the boy had been put under a stasis spell.

"I wish," Draco shot back, his voice filled with an equal mix of anger and sorrow. "By the time dad returned to the Muggle Hospital and found Cygnus out of the room, something had happened; the Hospital had lost track of him."

"No," Madam Pomfrey said, raising her hand to her mouth in horror.

"Yes, and since Mom had been asleep when he had been removed while Father and I were not there, we did not even know who had taken him to question them. The whole place was searched, but no sign of Cygnus was ever found. Mom and Dad were beside themselves in worry and fear as they sought help from Madam Bones and the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, but even they could not find my brother," Draco said, sinking into the chair beside the bed. "We all gave up hope he was still alive almost six years ago. So why bring it up now?" he asked, turning to look up at her with an angry expression while tears poured from his eyes.

"Because the scans I took on 'Harry' after he was exposed to the Goblet of Fire's flames stated that he is, in fact, Cygnus Patrick Malfoy," Madam Pomfrey said, placing a hand on the fourth year's shoulder as she held out the Family Line test she had taken on 'Harry' in the secondary trophy room.

"What was that?" a quaking voice asked from behind her, making her turn to see the rest of the Malfoy family having just stepped out of the Floo.
