Chapter Text
It was a normal sunny monday morning, in the middle of the year. And Kim Dokja woke up to the sound of his alarm. He got dressed, ate breakfast and got ready to go to school. But there was just one detail,
It was a new school, one he never stepped foot in before.
That was the first time he had ever transfered schools before. Which he only did because his aunt, who he didin't even live with anymore, decided to do something for him for the first time in sixteen years. Since she was in charge of his education, and the school kept contacting her about the bullying he was suffering, she just made him change schools so that the previous one stopped bothering her.
Dokja didin't mind the reasoning behind her actions, though. He was more than already used to his aunt's behaviour. Plus, a new school meant a new opportunity to escape from his old classmates. And maybe, just maybe, the people there wouldn't know his origins, considering that the case ended long ago. That he was the son of a murderer.
But at least, apart from all of that, he had his favourite novel that he was reading every day for a year already, with it uploading daily. Three ways to survive an apocalypse. He always read it on the subway, on the way to school. That web novel saved him, saved his life. And it was his only reason to live.

"Alright class. Pay attention here. I want you to welcome our new student, Kim Dokja." The teacher said, minutes after he entered the room.
He never liked presentations, or talking in front of many people, in general. It felt like everyone was judging him. Even more because he joined the year late, so everyone already were familiar with themselfs.
"Lets see... You can sit there, next to Yoo Joonghyuk."
It was only then, when he sat on the chair, that he got to take a look at the person next to him.
And wow. He was the most handsome guy he had ever come across. His facial features were just perfectly aligned, his hair neatly stood in place, as he wrote something down on his notebook. If this world had a protagonist, Dokja thought it would probably be this man.
It was when Joonghyuk turned to look at him with a frown that Kim Dokja returned to his senses.
"H-Hello."
That was the only thing he could muster up at the moment, to avoid a possible awkward atmosphere.
The guy did a quick nod, and then looked away. It was a little odd, but Dokja could except that greeting.
He then turned to look at his new classmates. He saw two girls talking to each other, one with short black hair and the other with long light brown hair. And in the seat next to to them, another girl with her hair up and a guy who had a bear-like figure. They seemed to be very close.
There was also a girl with long blond hair. She looked like an angel, even. Furthermore, he saw another person (also blond) he couldn't really tell the gender of not too distant from there. And a white-haired girl near her. That girl looked like she could be the protagonist's love interest.
Seeing that no one as staring at him and whispering to each other like the last few years of his life, It seemed that the year wasn't going to be so bad, after all.
After 1 or 2 hours of a boring and long lecture, it was finally time for recess.
As soon as the bell rang, the two girls that were talking to each other, the girl with her hair up and her friend came to him.
Dokja was ready to receive innumerous questions about if he was "that boy in the newspaper" or anything about that damn murder case from years ago. But nothing came.
"Hi there. Nice to meet you! It's Kim Dokja-ssi, right?" He nodded. "I'm Yoo Sangah. This is Han Soyoung," She pointed at the girl with short black hair and she waved at him. "And those are Jung Heewon and Lee Hyunsung." Both of them greeted him.
"It's a pleasure to meet you guys." Dokja said.
When he looked at the seat next to him, he saw that Joonghyuk, after picking up what seemed to be a homemade lunchbox, had already left the class. As soon as he turned his head, the long blond-haired girl was shaking his hand excitedly.
"Hello!! I'm Uriel. Pleasure to meet you!" She announced, still shaking his hand as her life depended on it.
"A pleasure to meet you too, Uriel." He said, Looking at his hand going up and down.
"That's enough Uriel, you're scaring him." Said two people simultaneously, a black-haired boy a bit younger than them that didn't seem to be in their class plus another tall blond guy Dokja saw somewhere in the room.
"They're right Uri." Stated another girl which he saw sitting next to Uriel earlier.
"Fine..", Uriel sighed. "Oh, these are Gabriel, Sun Wukong and Black Flame, by the way"
Kim Dokja never once in his life had received that much attention, so he was a bit overwhelmed, at first. But managed to deal with everything calmly.
"Lets go eat something, you brought lunch, didn't you?" Said Han Sooyoung, as they were leaving with Sangah, Hyunsung and Heewon.
"Yes. Wait a sec." He said, picking up his triangle kimbap from his bag and walking towards the door. The five of them walked to the cafeteria and sat down next to where Joonghyuk was already siting with a young girl and her friends who seemed to be her age. Dokja was pretty sure the girl was Joonghyuk's sister.
"Don't mind this emo bastard sitting practically all alone when he's got amazing friends like us, he's always like that." Not much after Sooyoung finished talking, joonghyuk elbowed her fiercely, and she retributed the hit.
He chuckled a bit. It must be nice having friends like these. Maybe one that he could also become close with someone like that.
After eating, they all went back to their respective classes. Kim Dokja was happy. He ate with other people at school, and that was a first for him. They all were really nice to him.
Then came more hours of lectures. After uncountable attempts of keeping himself awake in during them, the classes were almost over.
"For next week's class, you will be doing a group project with the partner sitting next to you about the subject we learned today. Class dismissed."
Kim Dokja gulps. He always hated group projects, they never ended well. He just did all the work and was too afraid to tell the teacher about it. He looked at Joonghyuk, who was already looking at him.
"It seems we're doing it together.", He said.
"Yes." Dokja responded.
"What's your number? So we can contact each other about the details."
"Oh, Its..." Dokja ripped a piece of paper from his book and wrote his number on it. Why did he feel so nervous? Was it because of the man's ethereal beauty? He didn't know. "Here it is."
Joonghyuk Hummed, taking the paper with him and giving him another one. "See you tomorrow."
"Bye."
Dokja still didn't believe that he exanged numbers with a guy worthy of being a protagonist, thus, he went home.

The trip back to Kim Dokja's house on the subway was way more peaceful than usual. He felt like this year was going to be nice for him, a new start.
He got home, tidied himself up and went to bed, writing a message to Joonghyuk after reading the new chapter of TWSA.
Kim Dokja: Hello, Where are we doing the project?
Yoo Joonghyuk: It can be at my house tomorrow after school.
Kim Dokja: Ok. I don't know the way to there, though.
Yoo Joonghyuk: I know. We can leave together, then.
Kim Dokja: Sure. See you tomorrow.
Yoo Joonghyuk: Good night.
He then turned off his phone and went to sleep, suddenly exited for the next day.
