“What Souta didn't tell Nao: he put two peas up his nose and they only got one of them out. The second one is rattling in his brain” – Norin
When Souta finally tells Nao this, Nao sighs in relief. "I thought you wouldn't understand me," he says.
"Understand what?" Souta asks. "Nao, you can tell me anything!"
Nao takes a deep breath and reluctantly pulls his hand away from its spot on Souta's arm. He reaches up to grasp his hair gently in his hands and closes his eyes. Souta looks at him, confused. His eyes widen when he sees Nao lift his hair upwards. It comes off his head in one solid piece, almost like the hair of a Lego minifigure. Nao's head is bald, hairless and shining under the light coming through his window, with one faint line going around the circumference.
Souta gasps softly and reaches forward to touch the seam, hesitating a few centimeters away and catching Nao's gaze, a silent question in his eyes. Nao nods and Souta closes his hands around the sides of his lover's head. He pulls slightly and Nao's head opens on a nearly invisible hinge. Opening it all the way, Souta peers inside.
The inside of Nao's head is hollow. There is no brain, nor a skull. Instead, it is plastered with pictures of Souta, Souta, and, oh look, more Souta. Souta's heart skips a beat seeing with undeniable certainty just how much space he takes up in Nao's mind. But the real surprise is that staring up at him from the middle of this Souta-themed cavity are two small green peas.
"Nao- I-"
"I'm sorry I didn't tell you until now, Souta." Nao's hands return to their natural places, gripping Souta's arms as if to plead for Souta to accept him, peas and all.
Souta smiles and softly meets Nao's anxious gaze. "I love you," he whispers, slowly closing Nao's head back up and giving the smooth bald top a gentle kiss.
