Momo Squared

Summary:

Momo Ayase is starting her first day at university on the other side of the pacific and she's more than a little nervous, thankfully though she's found herself a friend in the form another Japanese girl... Who coincidentally has the same given name as her.

Notes:

My last DDD/MHA crossover flopped big time but I still wanted to do something with Momo and Momo, so fuck it. Let's have some fun!

Work Text:

Momo grumbled as she walked into her university class. She liked chemistry well enough but she still wasn’t entirely sure why she’d chosen to major in it. She was even more unsure of how she’d lucked into a scholarship all the way out in the United States but here she was at freaking Harvard!

She wasn’t entirely sure her granny hadn’t done some trick on that admissions officer she said she’d met on a plane but she wasn’t gonna turn down a chance to see the world or get a paid-for education.

Well, okay she did kind of suck at English and didn’t enjoy having to speak it to people, she was going to complain about that, but thankfully her boyfriend, Okarun, was a great tutor.

She settled at a desk next to the only other Japanese girl she could see. She was a gorgeous girl too. Smooth, perfect skin, long black hair in a kick ass ponytail, and an incredibly regal presence. Like a fucking Japanese Princess Diana.

“Ohayo,” Momo whispered, trying to hide the burgeoning girl crush she was feeling.

“Ohayo,” the other woman replied, a bright smile on her face.

Clearly she was a morning person. Momo wasn’t.

“Alright then!” Announced the professor. “I’m Dr. Danielle Jackson, I’m going to be your instructor for the next several months. So first things first, let’s take attendance. I understand we have two students from Japan, so in the interest of clarity, I’ll be reading everyone’s name by their given name.”

Momo and her friend nodded.

“When in Rome, do as the Romans do,” Momo’s companion whispered in Japanese.

“Abigail?” “Present.”

“Arthur?” “Present.”

“Ayisha?” “Present.”

“Benjamin?” “Present.”

“Brenda?” “Present.”

“Carlos?” “Present.”

“Daniel?” “Present.”

“Eric?” “Present.”

“Francine?” “Present.”

“Franklin?” “Present.”

“Georgia?” “Present.”

“Hannah?” “Present.”

“Jill?” “Present.”

“Kevin?” “Present.”

“Lewis?” “Present.”

“Momo?”

“Present,” answered both of the Japanese girls.

The two girls stared at each other in surprise, so did the rest of the class and their instructor.

The professor glanced at her chart, then lightly smacked herself on the forehead. “Oh yes, there are two Momos here. Momo Ayase?”

“Uh, that’s me,” replied the brown haired girl, looking between the teacher and her new friend in confusion.

“And that means you must be, Momo Yaoyorozu?”

“I am ma’am,” the black haired girl answered, a polite smile gracing her features.

“Yaoyorozu?” Momo (A.) repeated, before her jaw hit the floor. “OH MY FUCKING GOD! YOU’RE FUCKING RICH!”

Momo (Y.) looked at her new friend puzzled. “You didn’t recognize me?”

Momo A. blinked. Oh my God, this girl wasn’t just rich and smart, she was also a freaking Olympian!

She’d competed in the 100 meter dash in Paris two years ago. She even won the bronze.

“Um, Miss Ayase, is something wrong?”

Momo A. blinked. Oh right. Still in class. “Um, no ma’am, nothing’s wrong. I’m sorry. I just realized Yaoyorozu is someone I know.”

“Oh, how do you know each other?”

Momo bit her tongue. She wasn’t sure if the other Momo was trying to be low key or not, but if she was… “Our boyfriends are actually old friends.”

“Yes, they are. Izuku and Takakur- I’m sorry, Ken, are actually very good friends. They used to be very close as boys but then Ken had to move away.”

Momo blinked. Okay that was a really good lie. “Yeah, that’s something that we bonded over, I had a great friend named Jiji as a kid who moved up north from me.”

“It’s just so lovely that the boys get to be friends again.”

“Totally!” Momo A. agreed, pretending she had even the faintest clue of what was going on.

Momo smirked at the other Momo. “So you’re a bronze medalist, a chemistry major, drop dead gorgeous, rich, and an incredible actress. What can’t you do?”

The other Momo giggled. “That wasn’t a performance, I actually do know Takakura through Izuku.”

“Huh?”

Momo Y. shook her head in amusement. “I’m guessing Takakura hasn’t told you yet.”

“Hasn’t told me what?”

“A month ago, Izuku came out to San Diego with his stepfather for a comic book convention, while they were at the airport, Takakura was stopping in San Diego for a layover on his way to Albuquerque.”

“OH RIGHT! Okarun was coming out to America to visit Roswell but he wanted to fly to Albuquerque and just drive the rest of the way.”

“Roswell is a much smaller city, it’s easier to just fly to a big city and then drive the rest of the way.”

“Right right right, so your Izuku and his stepdad ran into Okarun and they got to talking and catching up?”

“Yes, your Okarun is apparently a big alien otaku, my Izuku and his father are big superhero fans, so they got to talking about things like Superman, the Martian Manhunter, and the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Momo A. looked at her counterpart in confusion. “Okay, I know the first thing and the third thing but not the second thing.”

“Oh, well Izuku could explain it better than me, but basically the Martian Manhunter was an alien refugee who came to earth like Superman but he came from Mars instead of Krypton and as an adult who was married with children instead of a baby who was raised by normal humans.”

“And does he have super powers too?”

“He’s very strong and can fly but he’s not as strong as Superman but he can also shapeshift.”

Momo A. nodded. “Sick. What kind of super powers would you want if you had them?”

Momo Y. thought for a moment. “Hmm… I think I’d want the ability to make anything from my body. I’m always forgetting small things while I’m out and about.”

“Didn’t you literally forget to bring a pencil?” Momo A. teased.

“I did!” Momo Y. laughed.

Their phones both buzzed.

“Okarun?”

“Yep. Izuku?”

“His father actually, the boys are all three in Las Vegas having themselves a good old time.”

“Who’s Izuku’s stepdad anyway?”

Momo Y. wore a smug grin. “He’s Toshinori Yagi.”

“THE BASEBALL PLAYER?!?!?”

The other Momo nodded. “Mrs. Midoriya is an oncologist in Tokyo while Yagi was playing for the Yomimuri Giants.”

Momo A. nodded again. “Right, right, Yagi had stomach cancer during his last season.”

Momo Y. nodded back, her expression turning solemn. “Yes, he actually had to have his entire stomach removed.”

Momo A. gasped. “How the fuck do you even live like that?!?!”

“It’s not easy, but he manages. He’s a very strong man, not just physically, but also in terms of his character. He feels as much like a father to me as he does, Izuku.”

Momo A. quirked her lips in annoyance. “Must be nice.”

“Is there something wrong?”

“Oh no, no, no! It’s just that… I grew up mostly with my grandmother and… She’s great but she’s also…”

Momo Y. smirked. “Kind of a bitch?”

“Yeah!”

“Do you see yourselves in each other?” The other Momo teased.

“How did you guess?”

“Izuku is the same about his mother, he loves her deeply but he occasionally complains about her being a bit of a worry wart, but he’s the exact same way. He cares so deeply for everyone and just wants everyone to be safe.”

“Maybe I should go meet this Izuku,” Momo A. mused.

“Well as I said, he, his father, and your boyfriend are already out in Las Vegas and we have the rest of the afternoon wide open,” Momo Y. replied.

Momo A. looked at her confused. “What are you saying? You think we should just fly over there?”

“Well I already bought us tickets when I came into class this morning.”

Momo A. stayed at her counterpart in bewilderment. “We hadn’t even met yet?!”

“I’d met your boyfriend, he was friends with my boyfriend, my boyfriend told me what the three of them were up to, it only seemed fair that if I was going to see him that I would bring you along.”

“Shit, how much were those tickets?”

“Only $1600 dollars. I got us first class because I assumed you’d like to be pampered.”

Making friends with a rich girl was paying off big time.

“Should we get our stuff first? It’s probably colder in Boston than it is in Vegas.”

“Oh don’t worry, I’ll be footing the bill for any expenses Yagi isn’t already covering.”

“How come we’re not just taking a private jet?”

“You really think I have a private jet?” Momo Y. asked, looking at her friend a bit confused.

“You’re right, I guess I assumed a lot-”

“I’m just kidding, I absolutely have a PJ, I just figured it would be quicker to just book a charter flight than try to get my pilot ready in time for a flight to Vegas right after our class.”

“Shit. You thought of everything.”

“That’s my job!” The heiress winked.

Momo A. laughed. “Alright, so when do we leave?”

Momo Y. checked her watch. “Kurumada should be waiting outside.”

“You have a limo driver. And why shouldn’t you.”

“He used to work for my friend, Todoroki’s family, but after Todoroki’s father retired, he and his siblings rejected their inheritance and moved to different parts of the country. Kurumada needed work, so my family hired him. He’s a lot less grumpy nowadays though.”

“Huh. Good to know.”

“Shall we?” Momo Y. asked, holding out her elbow.

“We shall!” Momo A. replied, hooking her friend’s arm with her own.
