As Peter swung into his apartment window, he threw his mask on his bed and groaned.
“Ugh, such a long patrol, I am starving!” He said, but not loud enough for his next door neighbor to hear. He took a small walk to his kitchen and opened the fridge, bending down to look around.
But there wasn’t much, there was a container of leftovers, a jar of pickles and half a gallon of milk that was most likely spoiled.
“Dude…I just wanna eat and rest, now I gotta go shopping?” He groaned once again, throwing his arms back and closing his fridge.
Luckily enough, he had just gotten his paycheck from the bugle and would have enough for a few groceries. With a sigh, he walked back into his bedroom to put some clothes on over his suit.
He wore a white under shirt, a dark green t-shirt, black baggy jeans and his roughed up sneakers. He grabbed his phone and laid back on his bed, opening his notes app (which he used for a grocery list), and starting writing things down.
- Milk
- Cereal
- 1 pound of Beef
- Whatever fruits on sale
- Eggs
- Bread
- Mayo
- Lettuce
- Deli turkey
- Peanut butter + jelly
- Mustard
That seemed like enough things, to at least let him live this week. He’ll possibly be living off sandwiches, but whenever he’s invited to Avengers tower for dinner, he’s most definitely accepting.
With that, he got up from his bed, put his headphones on and slipped his phone into his pocket, playing his playlist.
The streets of New York, specifically Queens, were always a bit busy, people rushing to work, people rushing home, drunks and addicts wobbling around the streets. But today was a bit calmer, making Peter have a relaxing walk to the grocery store.
As he walked into the store, his phone started ringing, so he took it out of his pocket and glanced at the contact before pressing accept.
“Hey Pete, how’s it going?” Tony’s voice came through the phone as Peter looked around for the fruit section.
“Hey Mr.Stark, what’s up?”
“Just checking in, I know you're always back from patrol around now. What’re you up to?”
“Just doing some shopping, there was literally nothing in my fridge that was edible.”
“You know if you’d let me—I’d buy your groceries. You’re already living in that very untrustworthy apartment.”
“As I’ve told you and Harry multiple times, I can survive. If I was in desperate need I’d call either of you. But I just got my paycheck so I’ll manage.” Peter rolled his eyes with a slight smile.
He actually liked how people always offered to help, but he didn’t want to seem like he just needed help all the time, cause really, he’ll manage.
“If you say so. What’re you getting there anyway?”
Peter picked up a gallon of milk and placed it in his cart.
“A few things, it’ll last me through the week.”
“Right, well would you like to come over for dinner tonight? Don’t worry, I’m not cooking.”
Tony chuckled.
“Yeah, of course. Who’s making what?” He asked, opening a box of eggs, inspecting that none of them were cracked and placed it in his cart.
“Steve’s making burgers, since the weather's getting nicer we can finally use the grill again.”
“That sounds nice, what time?”
“I think you should be here by six, don’t wanna miss any cooking drama.”
Collecting some more items from his list, he placed them in his cart and made his way to the self check out.
“Well I’ll see you later Tony, thanks for calling” He smiled.
“I’ll see ya later bambino, swing safe.” He said, ending the call.
He slipped his phone back in his pocket, his music unpausing as he paid for his groceries and left.

It was nearly six, and luckily he didn’t live that far from Avengers tower. He packed his clothes into his backpack and put his mask back on, slipping through the window and closing it as he webbed away.

Over at Avengers tower, everyone was gathered outside. The sun was still up in the sky, since it’s now summer, and everyone was doing their own thing.
Steve was at the grill whilst Bucky and Pepper prepared other foods like coleslaw and fries, Bruce and Tony were yapping on about nerd stuff, Natasha was sitting on a bench near the lake, talking with Wanda, Sam and Rhodey were playing a friendly game of ring toss, Clint was arm wrestling with Morgan, of course, letting her win.
Morgan giggled, Tony rolled his eyes at Bruce’s idea, Rhodey groaned when he lost, and Bucky gave Steve a quick kiss on the cheek. Overall, everyone was having a great time.
“Oh yeah, Peter is nearly here I believe.” Tony spoke up.
“Perfect, dinner is almost ready.” Steve smiled.
“I’m sure he will like my idea.” Bruce said, elbowing Tony, who only rolled his eyes once again.
On que, Spider-Man swung into the Avengers yard, if you can even call it that. He took off his mask with a smile.
“Peter! Glad you could make it.” Tony smiled.
“Hey Pete!” Sam called out with a wave.
“I’m also happy you could make it.” Pepper gave a sweet smile.
“Petey!!” Morgan yelled out, rushing over and hugging him.
Peter picked her up and gave a quick spin. “There’s my little Morgan!” He smiled, setting her down.
“Hey everyone!” He waved. “I’m gonna go get changed real quick, I’ll be right back out!” He yelled, running inside.
-
He ran back out as the dinner was being set up on the picnic tables. Everyone started sitting down, Peter sitting in between Sam and Tony near the end of one of the tables.
“Alright everyone, dig in!” Pepper smiled.
Peter was happy. He felt like he belonged here, he did belong here. He loved his team, his family.
