Work Text:
What Kensuke doesn’t expect when he arrives home in the middle of the afternoon, is seeing Ryota in bed, the TV in front of it playing some video.
Something rare, but it happened from time to time, especially considering how busy they were lately. They had to get new outfits for an agency project, so they had been either at work, practice or with the staff in charge of that.
What’s even stranger is seeing Ryota with his eyes red and a few napkins on the side.
“Ryo? Is… Is everything okay?”
“Ken! Sorry.”
“Ryo…”
“They’re happy tears.”
“Happy tears?”
“Or, well, not sad.”
And he wasn’t lying, his laugh gave him away. It’s also rare for Ryota to pat to his side on the bed, but Kensuke isn’t going to play hard to get, immediately sitting at his side as Ryota fiddles a little with the remote.
“What… happened, then?”
“A fan recommended this musical series to me. I've been watching it these days, but I left the final for today.”
“A musical series? What is it about?”
“The Odyssey.”
“The Odyssey? Ah, the King from Ithaca that fought the Trojans, right? With the wooden horse.”
“Yeah. It’s a series of songs depicting the different traversies that Odysseus went through during his journey, twenty years away from home due to the different troubles they encountered after ten fighting in the war.”
“Then, was the ending about when he finally came back home?”
“Yes. When he finally reunited with his wife, who also kept her suitors off the throne.”
“I see. Was the ending that good?”
“It was.”
Ryota chuckles a little, at that. Kensuke takes the chance to pull him closer, and he enjoys that he nuzzles into the embrace.
“I was just… I don’t know how I got there, I was just daydreaming when you came home, I guess.”
“That means it was really good~ Daydreaming about what, then?”
“Us.”
“Mh?”
“I was… I was just thinking of what if that were us. I could depict you doing so much, trying to be so kind to avoid a bloodbath, but with the strength to fight for those you love… And… I wondered if you’d still love me, if you’d come back to me if we were separated for twenty years, or if you’d stay with someone else.”
“Mh… I have my answer clear, but would you still love me? I mean, twenty years is a long time, Ryo. I'm sure I would love you and I would fight twenty years to get back home if I know you’re waiting for me.”
“And if I said I no longer want you?”
“It'd hurt, I mean- Twenty years? But that's on me. You'd have the right to make a new life.”
“Would you leave, if I asked you to?”
“I'd do it for you, even if it ripped me apart, yeah.”
“...”
It’s even rarer that Ryota is the one to reach for a kiss, moving to sit on his lap as he did so.
He enjoys holding him closer, keeping it going even when Ryota was ready to get away. He looked lovely with his larger clothes to stay at home, looking so cozy, and that faint blush on his cheeks…
“Well, I certainly would fight for twenty years if I knew that was waiting for me.”
“Idiot.”
“I love you~”
“...I do, too. Do you want to watch it with me? I want to rewatch it. I was also thinking of posting about it, so we can take a picture later.”
“Sure thing~ But first! What I came here to tell you. Kou and Mamoru are coming late tonight, so I wondered if you wanted to order takeout instead of cooking?”
“Mh, sure.”
“Okay~ Let’s pick something and then let’s watch it! And don’t spoil me when I make predictions.”
“That’s… Fine.”
“I’ll go grab my phone then, be right back!”
Kensuke knows better than to say it, but that small kiss as they parted felt much more intimate, and definitely something that would fuel him for years if he needed it.
