Chapter Text
Years ago, Bloomie’s past.
It was a hot summer day, and there was Bloomie, shuffling uncomfortably as her backpack straps dug into her shoulders. She was on her way to school, the sun beaming down on her as she strode. She missed the bus again, and her parents never cared to drive her. It’s like they don’t even know she exists!
Bloomie furrows her brows at that thought, shaking her head in response. The sound of voices snapping her out of thought. She could’ve sworn she heard someone call out… maybe they were-
*SHOVE*
She was pushed to the ground, her head slamming against the brick wall beside her. Bloomie gasps audibly, grabbing the back of her head in pain. Pulling it back, she sees blood. She tears up in fear, looking to see the culprit.
a laugh rings out as Bloomie looks up. The boys face was a blur, her fall must’ve messed up her vision. Two others seemingly join the bully, a wicked smile plastered on their faces.
(3) ??? ” Aww!~ look, it’s crying! “ ((Chuckle))
(1) ??? “ you should know demons aren’t allowed here.~ … Heard you creatures are like a hive mind. “
‘h-hive mind? Are these boys insane?’ Bloomie scoots back, attempting to stand and run. But one of the boys was faster, grabbing her by her horns and shoving her down. Her face was against the warm sidewalk, it stung. Bloomie squirms and tries to break free, but it’s to no avail.
(1) ??? “ tsk, looks like you need to be taught a lesson! “ an evil grin was plastered on the boys face
Another one perks up with an idea. (2) ??? “ mm.. let’s cut off her hand. I heard it brings good luck! “
Bloomie’s eyes widen in fear.. did she hear that right? No.. no way.
one of the bullies yells out, worried. (3) ??? “ WH-WHAT?! Are you insane!? W-we can’t do something like that, think of the consequences! “
(1) ??? ” shh-! You’ll alert someone. And plus, I think it’s a great idea! Think of the upsides. We’ll be so cool! “
Bloomie begins to sob, crying out in terror.
” WH- WHA-.. WAIT PLEASE...!! SOMEONE HELP! “
(Alarmed) (1) ??? “ S-SHUT UP! Quickly damnit!- Give me your pocket knife. This thing is getting on my nerves! “
-
A scream rings out as blood is spilled. The pain was unbearable… and it wouldn’t stop gushing blood. She was hyperventilating, the culprits got away. Only then did a crowd begin to pile up, all in shock and awe of the demon. Before anything could be done, Bloomie passes out.
~
Bloomie awakes in a bright room, a beeping monitor barely audible. She feels around; though she is numb, she can still feel bed sheets. She overhears her parents arguing. They’re pissed about the hospital bill. ‘Why did she have to go and get herself hurt?’ ‘Does it look like I’m made of money?’ ‘It’s all HER fault.’
she stares blankly at the IVs in her arm… her arm! Those freaks truly took her hand… and everything’s a blur from what she can remember.
suddenly, something snaps within her. They truly think she’s a monster. Why else would they do this… maybe.. just maybe… she’ll prove them right.
~
From then on, things were.. different. Anytime someone tried something, she’d fight back. Slamming them into a locker always seemed to work. Her size wouldn’t need to matter if she was stronger.
But sometimes she would take it too far. Serious injuries, maybe death. But why should she care? After all, they wanted her this way.
Bloomie would continue her studies, making sure to ace her tests. She could NEVER turn out like her bullies. They were always the ones to fail.
Her teachers praised her for her grades. They were her true family. They taught her expectations and how to live. And it seems failures never get far.
~Present Day~
Bloomie was driving to her new apartment. Until she can afford a house she’ll have to deal with this. Thankfully it’s near the school so she won’t drive far everyday.
She was glad to get away from her old place… her neighborhood was disgusting and it felt like she could never get anything done. But with this new job she can finally get away. Forever.
she could feel people staring as she walked to her room, she’s used to it by now. Maybe word got around? Good. She won’t have to deal with annoying visitors then.
Bloomie finally arrives and sets down her belongings. The place wasn’t too shabby, could use a bit of cleaning and dusting. Overall, she was glad to be independent.
Bloomie unpacks and puts clothes away. Her mind drifts in thought of what her future may hold. Maybe.. she’ll finally find friends?.. tsk- what the hell was that? She doesn’t need anyone else. She did just fine when she was younger. Why would she yearn now to fix an empty pit?
Bloomie soon noticed it was getting dark, thankfully she didn’t have a lot to put away. She combs her short hair straight and finishes her routine. Her bed was cold, pretty uninviting, but it’s all she has. She doses off, the moonlight peeking in through the closed blinds.
~
She opens her eyes to her old bedroom, the world was spinning around her. Downstairs she could hear her parents fighting like they used to. No.. please not this again…
She can’t move… frozen in place forced to let this happen. Bloomie tries to scream but nothing came out. A sound of glass shattering echos down the hall. Everything is silent. Unsettling.
footsteps follow after the silence, heading towards her room. Bloomie’s heart begins to pound, she has to pretend to sleep. Please… why can’t she move?! The figure stops at the door, trying the doorknob and slamming for entry. Things cut to black as the door gives way.
~
Suddenly Bloomie jolts awake, her whole body was in a cold sweat, her breath catching as the alarm clock rings out. She growls, slamming her fist down to quiet the contraption.
Bloomie stares blankly at the clock for a while, her breath finally calming down as she’s finally back to reality. It’s 6:00, she should get ready. It’s always best to be early than late.
Climbing out of bed, Bloomie changes her clothes trying to ignore any negative thoughts. It’s basically every day that she has nightmares. She feels so hopeless about it. Everything she tries doesn’t make them go away… ‘I feel so drained..’
