Chapter Text

Kyoya Ootori. A man of many different qualities.
Rich, stern, dark, but never loving.

Then again, he had the ability to love so much it physically hurt him.

And he had wished it never would've ended out like this.

Everything was over. They had saved Tamaki from Éclair, and all of the members of the host club had now graduated and had their own lives, he knew it.

But this was the day he dreaded the most.

Tamaki and Haruhi's wedding day.

It was a peaceful ceremony, everyone having fun or congratulating the new couple, everyone was still their same old selves- especially Tamaki, Kyoya had noticed.

He noticed everything about Tamaki.

He knew every little thing about Tamaki.

You might say he even loved Tamaki.

Which is the exact reason why this was the day Kyoya dreaded most.

After the recessional (and during the wedding party), Kyoya had done his best to stay away from the newlyweds at all times.

Every time he spotted them at the corner of his eye, he would begin a conversation with another guest, go to refill his drink, go to the bathroom- all sorts of ways to avoid them.

But unfortunately, this had backfired on him when he found Tamaki washing his hands in the bathroom when trying to avoid him in the first place.

As a natural response, Tamaki looks up to see who entered the bathroom, lighting up when he sees Kyoya's cold expression.

"Kyoya! Mon ami! I was starting to think you hadn't come at all!"

Despite having wet hands, he hugged Kyoya tightly, something he'd do in middle school whenever seeing him.

Damnit... Kyoya mutters internally. Kyoya being in this situation is just like being happy that you're a girl but then crying about not having a dick, if you could even compare that situation to his.

"I couldn't miss it." Kyoya strains to say that with a smile. He could've missed it. He could've said he was busy with his father's business, but he didn't.

And he still doesn't know why.

"So, what did you think of the ceremony? Oh! And don't I look dashing?"

Tamaki immediately switches into "Charming Host Mode" and Kyoya internally curses at himself for finding it adorable.

"Ravishing. It's like those outfits you'd make us wear in our hosting days."
But ten times better.

Tamaki lets out a laugh at Kyoya's words.
"'Hosting days'? You say that as if it wasn't a couple months ago!"

His laugh is so adorable. And contagious clearly, since Kyoya fails to hide his smile when hearing it.

Not before he realises why he was in the bathroom in the first place, however.

"I should go. Someone was waiting for me."

"Leaving your best friend so soon?"

The way Tamaki says "best friend" is almost condescending, causing Kyoya to grit his teeth and reach for the door, just before a hand grabs his shoulder.

"I missed you, Kyoya."

His breath hitches as he turns to look at Tamaki's beautiful- desperate face.

"..."

"I missed you too, Tamaki."

Way more than you could imagine.

With that? Kyoya breaks out of his friends' grip and storms out of sight.
