Chapter Text
Many of years ago, humans, monsters, and magical creatures lived together in peace and harmony but Monstrox, King of Monsters, felt that all monsters were superior and should be ruling over humans and magical creatures. Monstrox ordered the monsters to attack. Fear was within the hearts of humans and magical creatures alike. Five ancient warriors were recruited by a young witch and wizard who needed them to fight against the monsters while they used this time to seal Monstrox in the underworld.
The only way to defeat Monstrox was for the wizard trapped him in a book but Monstrox proved to be too powerful so the witch used her magic to seal him within a book. That book was infused a special lock that no one could break unless they had good intentions. Unfortunately, the witch disappeared into the underworld along with Monstrox.
Even though Monstrox was gone, the humans began to fear the magical world and those who lived in it so the wizard erased every human's memories of the magical world and soon every human forgot about monsters and magical creatures and they became figments of imagination.
While Monstrox may have been defeat, the wizard lost his sister, a witch who fought alongside him for years. The wizard knew that one day, Monstrox would return so he would wait for that day to come when he would choose five warriors to help him in the coming battle once again.
A bus is seen driving through a very large city. This city is called Knighton. It was once a place where people became knights, at least that is what the history books say. A boy, with spiky brown hair, is sitting on a seat with a blue suitcase. He was wearing a light blue shirt with jeans and white tennis shoes. "So, the big city, huh? Wonder what trouble awaits me here."
In a different part of the city, there was a school called Knighton Academy. This was a prodigious school filled with students from all over the different parts of Knighton but today was different. Today, Knighton Academy was getting a new student. "So, why couldn't Principal Bricklyn have just one of us give the new kid a tour? He doesn't need all four of us!" A boy with luscious blond hair complained.
"Calm down, Lance. Principal Bricklyn asked us since we are not only the top students here but the kid has never been to Knighton so he figured since we all are friends and know our way around, we would be perfect to be friends with him," The girl with long red hair told him.
"Besides, I heard the new kid is awesome! Back where he is from, he won the jousting competition every year!" The teen with orange hair told him excitedly.
"Yeah, I also heard that he can make a mean pineapple upside down cake!" The tall teen with black hair smiled as he thought of pineapple upside down cake.
Lance rolled his eyes, not believing a word of what his friends were saying. "Don't worry, Lance. I heard that he's going to be living here in the dorms. You don't even know if you have any classes with him. Now, let's get to know the new kid," The girl with long red hair said excitedly with everyone nodding in agreement including Lance. She took a deep breath and opened to door to the principal's office.
"Ah, Macy, Lance, Axl, Aaron, I'd like you to meet Clay." Clay stood up from his seat and looked at the student's Principal Bricklyn told him about. They looked nice but he tried not to show it. "Thanks for showing me around." Clay grabbed his suitcase and left the principal's office and Macy, Aaron, Axl, and Lance proceeded to show him around. Little did they know that this meeting was only the beginning of their friendship and start of their destiny.
(Not making a scene of the tour. It's Knighton Academy but without the knight training.)
"Thanks for the tour, guys," Clay told them.
"So, Clay, where are you from?" Axl asked.
Clay thought to himself for a moment. "Dnullib. What about all of you? Did all of you grow up here?" Clay asked.
"I'm from Diggington. I got accepted here my freshman year and I've been here ever since," Axl told him.
"Grinstead for me. Just like Axl, I got accepted here my freshman semester," Aaron told him.
"Lance and I grew up here in Knighton. We apart of the richest families in Knighton," Macy told him.
She and Lance hoped that he would like them for them and not their money because that was how they usually made their friends but Clay just smiled and said, "Cool. Doesn't bother me though. You seem cool. I've met a lot of rich kids in my life and most of them were stuck-up brats."
Everyone laughed at Clay's little joke even Macy and Lance laughed at it. "Hey, we're going out to get something to eat, wanna come?" Macy asked.
"Yeah, I just need to put my suitcase away in my dorm. Principal Bricklyn told me I'm rooming with Jestro."
"Oh, yeah. Jestro's nice. I think you two will get along just fine," Aaron told him. Clay nodded and left to put his suitcase away. When he walked in, he didn't see Jestro and guessed that he must be busy doing something else so he just began to unpack his things.
Unfortunately, Clay was right. Jestro was busy doing something else but it wasn't anything good. Some known school bullies were terrorizing him and daring him to go into the known haunted forest. "Do it or else!" He threatened. Jestro gulped and walked into the forest. Jestro was a coward at times but when it came to his friends, he was the bravest of them all, course, at Knighton Academy, he didn't have many friends mostly Macy, Axl, Lance, and Aaron. They didn't hang out much but they always defended him against school bullies.
"Okay, you can do this. You just need to go to the creepy abandoned house, take a picture or take something inside then leave. It's that easy... right?" Jestro continued to walk through the forest and the longer he was in the more he wanted out. "Oh... I just wish I could just leave this stupid forest!" Unbeknownst to Jestro, someone heard his wish and it wasn't someone good.
"I can help you."
Jestro jumped at the sound of the unfamiliar voice. "Who's there?"
"Calm down. I'm a friend. I can get out of this forest."
Jestro perked up at the sound of this. "You can? How?" Jestro asked hopefully.
"You just have to enter the cave just a few meters to your right."
Jestro nodded and proceeded to follow the voice's instructions. As Jestro got further in, he just wanted out of this forest and back to his dorm but something was drawing him toward the voice.
It took him some time but Jestro found the cave. "Okay, I found the cave, now what?"
"You gotta enter the cave. I'm trapped inside. You gotta free me in order to escape."
Jestro wanted to say no at first. Something in his stomach told him this was a bad idea. He wanted to go home but he knew that he was too deep in the forest and he had no clue how to even get out and his phone had no signal. So, Jestro entered the cave and he kept walking until he spotted something odd. It was a brown book with a magical lock on it. 'That's the only thing here. Is that what I'm supposed to be looking for?' Jestro slowly walked over to it and picked up the book like it was nothing.
"Huh? Wonder who that voice was?" Jestro asked himself. Jestro felt like a fool. He should have known that the voice was someone who was trying to tease him. "Guess I have to find my way home." Jestro started to walked home, with the book in his hands, but unknowingly, he just released the greatest evil known to mankind and it would possess him making him the evilest monster of all time.
For many years, Merlok has been keeping watch of both the human and magical realm. It was his duty as one of the only wizards left since the Great War. He was in his study when he felt the magical lock keeping Monstrox in his prison break. "Ava, Robin, the seal has been broken! We must find five warriors to don the armor!"
"Are you sure we will be able to find them? We've been searching for them for years!" Robin said worriedly.
"Don't worry, Robin. We won't find them. They will find us. Here's the plan..."
Clay couldn't explain it but something was wrong. It felt like a great evil has been released.
"Everything all right, Clay?" Macy asked taking him out of his thoughts.
"I don't know. Something feels wrong, I just can't place it."
"Maybe you're tired. It's a long trip from Dnullib to Knighton," Aaron suggested.
"Maybe." Clay didn't think it was that but maybe he was tired.
"Help!" "Someone please help us!" Everyone ran outside and saw two children, a young boy and girl, screaming for help. Many people looked at the children concerned.
"Please help us! Our grandfather was taken by something and it dragged him into the dark forest." This caused many people to turn their backs. The dark forest was considered haunted and anyone who entered it never returned.
"I'll help." Macy, Lance, Axl, and Aaron looked at Clay as if he was crazy.
"Clay, are you crazy?!" Lance asked.
"Yeah, the dark forest is dangerous, no ever enters it! I do a lot of crazy stunts but I'm not crazy enough to enter the forest." Aaron told him.
"It doesn't matter. They need our help. I'm not afraid to help someone even if it's dangerous. Who's coming with me?" Everyone was silent but Macy and Axl stepped forward.
"I'll help. I've always wanted to enter the dark forest to be quite honest," Macy told him.
"Yeah, my mom taught me to always help people in need," Axl told him.
And so Axl, Macy, and Clay went with the two children to the dark forest. "There! This is the place where we saw that strange creature," The young boy told them. Just as Clay, Macy, and Axl were about to enter the forest Aaron and Lance came by.
"Wait!" Aaron shouted. Lance and Aaron ran to their friends.
"Aaron and I talked it over and we're coming too," Lance told them.
"Yeah, it sounds risky and we might get in trouble but as long as we can do the right thing then everything should be fine."
Unbeknownst to them, the two children smiled and whispered among themselves. "Merlok was right. The five warriors did find us." The boy whispered.
"Yeah, who would have thought it would work?" The girl whispered sarcastically.
They all entered the forest and began the search for the children's grandfather. The young boy and girl waited for the teens be ahead and once they were, the disappeared within the trees.
They all kept walking without even noticing that they weren't being followed by the children anymore. Clay suddenly felt a shiver down his spine. "Did you guys feel that?" Clay asked.
"No, why?" Macy asked.
"I feel completely terrified and worried that I'm going to get lice in my hair."
Clay rolled his eyes. "Lance, you'll be fine. We got more things to worry about like helping the kids find their grandfather and getting back to school safely."
"Okay, so where did you last see your grandfather?" Clay asked. When he got no answer, everyone turned around and saw that they were gone.
"Where did they go?!" Macy asked worriedly.
"I don't know but I'm getting kind off freaked out right now. Maybe we should leave," Lance said getting a little scared.
"How? We're deep in the forest and we have no idea where we even are!" Aaron told him.
"Everyone calm down. I'm sure if we work together then we'll be able to get out of here," Axl told them.
"Axl is right. Maybe if we keep walking then we'll find some way out," Clay said. So they all kept walking deeper into the forest, not knowing who or what is going to seek them.
"I heard of all kind of rumors of creatures that live here. Trolls, elves, goblins, giants, fairies, pixies, and I even heard a wizard lives here. I heard that he's Merlin's evil twin brother who uses his magic to turn humans into donuts and eats them," Aaron told them.
"Donuts sound delicious right now."
Everyone stopped once Clay started to speak. "Guys, you've been reading too many fairy tales. There is no such thing as trolls, elves, goblins or anything of that stuff. And come on wizards, please..." Clay was about to go on but he noticed that no one was looking at him but they were looking behind him.
Clay turned around and saw a bearded cloaked figure. "Uh... guys..." Macy said hesitantly. "Anyone else want to run?" Aaron asked. "I can't. My feet won't move," Axl told him nervously. Suddenly, everyone was surrounded by fire monsters. (Think of the fire monsters from season 1 and 2 of NEXO Knights.)
"Whoa! What the heck?!" The wizard looked around and brought his wand out. He spoke a language that none of them understood and as soon as he said it, five brooms came out of nowhere and took them somewhere else.
"Where are we going?!" Lance shouted.
"I don't know!" Clay shouted back.
'Good. Now that's I've taken them to safety, I can get to work.' Using his magic, the wizard destroyed all the fire monsters in one fell swoop.
Back in the sky, everyone was still on the brooms freaking out since they had no idea what was going on. Well... almost everyone, Aaron was laughing with joy since he always wanted to fly like this, sure they had hoverboards but flying on a broom was way cooler.
The brooms got closer to the ground and dropped all of them off then they flew away. "Okay, that was totally radical!!" Aaron said excitedly.
"Where are we now?" Axl asked.
"I'm not sure but now do you see why no one ever comes here, Clay!"
"Calm down, Lance. I have no idea where we even are, Axl," Clay said.
"I call this place the Fortrex." Everyone turned and saw the same wizard from before.
"Quick! In here, guys!" Clay said as everyone started to back up into the castle on wheels.
Everyone entered the Fortrex and the wizard teleported himself inside. Everyone walked in and they were surprised to see a giant room. There was a table with five different colors and five different animals: Yellow with a bull, white with a horse, green with a fox, red with a dragon, and blue with an eagle.
"I thought it would be best if you were all brought here." Lance smiled and looked at the scary wizard. "Hi, I'm Lance. Now, this is a lovely place you have here. Did you get a famous carpenter to decorate? It's so futuristic," Lance said as calmly as possible.
The wizard waved his wand, returning the brooms to their proper place, and removed his cloak revealing a white-bearded wizard with another blue cloak under him. "I am the wizard Merlok. Welcome to my home." Merlok said as he gestured all around him.
Everyone looked around and needlessly to say, they were all speechless except for Aaron. "Whoa! This is awesome!"
Merlok smiled. "When the five of you stepped into this forest, you stepped into a magical direction."
"There's a parallel dimension outside of Knighton? That's totally wicked!" Aaron said excitedly.
"A few years ago, there was a great battle between our world and the monster world. Dark magic nearly conquered our realm but we successfully defeated them and sent them to the Underworld. Sadly, even war has it's casualties, the gate was sealed with a very powerful spell, unfortunately, someone has broken it and evil has returned."
Lance raised his hand and smiled again. "Hi, it's me, Lance. Now question, what does that have to do with us?"
"It could mean the end to both our worlds."
Clay rolled his eyes. "Please. None of us are buying this dumb fairy tale."
Merlok looked at Clay seriously. "This is not a fairy tale. What I tell is what happened."
Clay scoffed. He couldn't believe that they were buying this. "Guys..."
"Hey. Let's hear what he has to say. We can always leave after that," Macy told him. "This is "The Microform NEXO, (Latin for NEXO Book. I used Google Translate for the latin.) this is the book of all things known and unknown." Everyone slowly walked over the Microform NEXO and an image with a different language appeared. "What kind of language is that? I've never seen it before." Axl asked. Merlok smiled. "This is the language of the ancients. You will soon learn it. It says, "When evil rises again, five mystical warriors from the human realm will step forward." You are those warriors. You are the Power Rangers."
Clay was just watching them in disbelief. 'How can these guys believe this ridiculous story?'
Aaron smiled and got excited. "Awesome!" He always wanted to be a power ranger.
"Uh... there must be some mistake. How are we going to defeat pure evil? Our high school hasn't even won any of our sports games in like six to seven years," Lance asked concerned.
Merlok smiled as he magically pulled out five weapons that served as both wands and weapons. "These are your wands/weapons. There will serve as your weapons and your magic wands. You must never go anywhere without them" Merlok handed Axl a yellow ax with a bull on it, Macy got a red mace with a dragon on it, Lance got a white lance with a horse on it, Aaron got a green bow and arrow with a fox on it, and Clay got a blue sword with an eagle.
Suddenly, two kids, a boy and girl, came running in. They looked human but they had pointed ears. "Merlok!" The boy said fearfully.
Merlok bent down to his level and the boy whispered in his ear. Merlok's face suddenly turned fearful. "Oh, dear. All of you must stay here. Do not go in the woods by yourselves." Merlok quickly teleported away leaving them all by themselves.
"My name is Robin and this is Ava. We're elves... well... I'm a mechanical elf. I'm basically a wizard with technology and all this mechanics. Ava is a wizard on the computer. She's the fastest typer in the whole world. So, you guys are the Power Rangers?" Robin asked hopefully.
"No, we are not. I'm leaving," Clay said and he and the others were about to leave but Robin and Ava stopped them.
"You can't leave!" Robin told them.
"He's right. Merlok told you guys not to leave and you should trust him," Ava told them.
"We all should go. Our parents are going to be worried sick if we don't return home," Macy told them.
"Robin, what are we going to do?" She whispered.
"I made something just for this occasion." Robin pulled out a remote which was intended to trap the rangers but instead trapped himself and Ava. "Okay... so there are a few bugs in the program. Sorry," Robin said as he scratched the back of his head nervously.
Everyone was now too freaked out to stay to they all left their weapons/wands on the Microform NEXO and left the Fortrex. "We are going to get in so much trouble with Merlok," Robin said worriedly.
"Yep."
Back in the forest, everyone was running away but they stopped once they came upon a sight that filled them with horror. It was an entire village destroyed. The people seemed to be fine but it was obvious that they were extremely scared.
"Look..." Macy said in disbelief.
"Who are they?" Lance said in disbelief.
"I should have known you wouldn't stay at the Fortrex," Merlok said as he approached the rangers.
"What happened here?" Axl asked shocked.
"Woodland village was destroyed. Tomorrow it will be another village. The darkness will destroy everything within their path until they find what want," Merlok told them.
"But what are they looking for?" Aaron asked.
"They are looking for me and then they will go after you." Everyone started to get a little scared except for Clay. He still didn't believe anything Merlok was saying.
"Hold on just a sec. I never agreed to be a part of this."
"It is them! It is them! It is the protectors! Hail the NEXO Knights!" A voice from the Woodland village shouted excitedly. The villagers soon surrounded the rangers excitedly just like Robin and Ava did earlier. They all bowed in respect to their protectors.
"Huh? I always thought that I would be worshipped by my future movies but this is a little crazier and cooler than a future movie deal." A roar took them out of their thought. Everyone turned around and saw a fire monster behind them. It looked like a cyclops with a scythe. "Okay... that's bad." Lance said fearfully.
The villagers ran away in fear. "Take out your wands!" Merlok told them.
"Uh... we kind of left them back at the castle on wheels," Aaron said nervously.
"All right. Stand back!" Merlok took out his wand and used his magic to destroy the creature but while Merlok was defeating the monster with his magic, other small fire monsters came attacked the others.
"Guys, we have company," Clay told them.
"Hmm, we have two choices, we can surrender and be destroyed or fight," Aaron suggested.
Clay looked at the monsters with a face of determination. "We fight."
"Actually, there's a third option. Plan Lance, I'll just reason with them." Everyone groaned internally and rolled their eyes. There is no way that Plan Lance was going to work. His plan usually never worked. Lance smirked and walked over to the monsters. "Hey there. Lance Richmond, here. We aren't from around here and if it's okay with all of you, we'll be heading off in another direction." The monsters looked at each other and smirked. The fire monster shaped like a ball hit Lance pushing him back to his friends. Luckily, Lance's friends caught him. "Well... I guess we fight." (Note, I am very bad with fight scenes so I am going to try my best. :). )
Everyone got into a fighting position and waited for just the right moment but the monsters breathed fire at them. They all dodged it skillfully but the monsters charged at them. They surrounded them and they were beginning to lose. 'Okay, this is getting out of hand.' The monsters were tossing them at trees and various items. Everyone was trying their best to fight them but they were failing.
Merlok jumped back to dodge an attack from the monster. Merlok soon noticed that the Rangers were losing badly. If they didn't use their magic then they would lose. "You must use your magic! All you need to do is believe in magic!" Merlok shouted. They all took a few more beatings.
"What did he say? To use magic, all you need to do is believe. Well, I do! I believe in magic!" Aaron shouted. He raised his arms to defend himself from the fire monsters and they were about to attack him but green arrow appeared out of nowhere and shot at all the monsters, destroying them. Aaron lowered his arms and saw that believing in magic works. "It works. Guys! The magic really works! Just believe!" Aaron shouted at his friends.
"I believe. I believe in magic!" Lance shouted. A white lance appeared out of nowhere and destroyed the monsters surrounding him before it disappeared.
"I believe in magic," Axl said. Soon, a yellow ax appeared and destroyed the monsters surround him.
"I believe. I believe!" Macy shouted and a red mace appeared in her hands. "Oh, yeah!" She then used her mace to destroy all the monsters surrounding her. "I love this! This is the coolest thing I've ever done!"
Once Merlok knew that the Rangers were fine, he went back to fighting the monster. "You're finished!" Merlok used an ice spell to freeze the monster which destroyed it. Merlok turned around and saw that Clay had still not believed in magic. He was still getting creamed by the monsters.
"Okay. I guess I believe, too," Clay said since he was getting tired of getting beaten by the monsters. The magic didn't appear for him. 'What's going on? Where's the magic?' The monsters were about to attack him again and Clay used his arms to defend himself but before the monster's attacked Merlok used a spell to defeat them.
Clay got up and everyone walked over to Merlok as he began to talk to them. "Excellent work, Rangers. You are the ones who can defeat the darkness. Think you can do it?" Merlok asked hopefully.
"Oh, yeah! Let's do it!" Aaron said excitedly.
"I'm in! I kicked some serious monster butt back there!" Macy said excitedly.
"Sounds good to me. As long as we can get something to eat afterward or a hero's feast!" Axl said hungrily as he rubbed his tummy.
"Someone's got to look after these guys, right? Guess I'm the leader!" Lance said confidently.
Everyone soon looked Clay who hasn't said anything since the fight finished. "Me? No way. I'm out of here."
Merlok walked over to Clay concerned. "Are you sure this is what you want, Clay?" Merlok asked.
"Look, the "I believe in magic" thing didn't work for me."
"Try believing again. Maybe it didn't catch on the first time," Macy told him.
"He is a nonbeliever. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do. Robin and Ava can see you out of the wood safely. Robin! Ava!" Merlok shouted. Merlok's phone began to ring and when he answered it, he saw Robin and Ava trapped in a cage. 'Oh, Robin. You and your inventions.' Without the two speaking a word, Merlok used his magic to bring Robin and Ava though the phone.
The two shook off any turbulence they went through and said, "Thanks, Merlok. That was my fault. There was a bug in my invention. I'll fix it when we get back."
"Ava, Robin, can you safely take Clay out of the woods?"
"Sure, follow us and try not to get lost," Ava told him and Clay then began to follow Ava and Robin out of the woods.
Soon, after Clay left with Ava and Robin, a woman appeared from a dark purple portal. She had electric blue hair, purple skin, and was wearing an electric blue dress with a black wand in her hand. "You may have defeated my Kaibutsu but you will not defeat me," She told them as electricity shot out from her hair. She used her magic to attack all the Rangers as well as Merlok. "Electric Storm!"
"It the end for you!" Then she laughed evilly. Merlok looked at her seriously and wondered who this witch was.
